Chapter 56 Untitled Chapter
The what!
My eyes snapped open, and Hans and I exchanged glances.
“And their aim…” He paused, looking at us one after the other, then his eyes fell on me again. “Is to kill you,”
To what! What da!
“Are you kidding me? Why would they want to kill me? What did I do to them? I only killed Rowan because he was part of those who killed my parents.” I gasped shockingly, looking at him.
“It isn't about Rowan alone, Amelia.”
What does that mean? If it isn't about Rowan, then what again?
“Decades ago, when the Sect was formed by the dark magician, the Lunskye Pack and the Arkonix Pack were the only packs that refused to join the sect. All the Alphas from the other packs did, and because of that, the sect targeted the Alpha bloodlines from these two packs and killed them.
However, everything returned to normal when the gods gathered and wiped them out.
But they reformed the sect and tried to initiate the Alphas and Lunas from the Lunskye Pack and the Arkonix Pack, but they failed again. And because of that, your parents were killed.”
Wow! So that was it? That was the reason they were killed? Is it by force to join a sect that will destroy your life?
The power stirred in my stomach, but I shut my eyes, controlling it. I can't lose it here; I will only hurt the healer and Hans, who have nothing to do with this.
“And now that they've succeeded in initiating Alpha from the Arkonix Pack, they are after you, Amelia. They will do whatever it takes to kill you and take over your pack and all that is in it.”
He shut his eyes again, leaned on the sofa, and shook his head vigorously.
“Amelia, you must wipe out that sect to bring peace back to this kingdom and to rule your pack with no obstacles.”
Like seriously? Is he being real right now? The gods wiped them out decades ago, but they found their way back in my generation.
What nonsense does he mean by I should wipe them out? Who am I? Just an Alpha, not a goddess. If the goddess and the other gods could do it, would they reform? Who am I then?
“Stop toying with my feelings, Matt; I'm not a goddess.” I got up and signaled to Hans to do the same.
“You are the only Alpha bloodline that can wipe them out. All you've got to do is capture their leader and kill him. Also, do not refer to yourself as a nobody. Don't you know why the goddess gifted you with that power? It is because your bloodline is strong, and the Lunskye Pack was formed directly by the goddess.”
Now what? The chosen one? Hahahaha, this is funny.
“You cannot brainwash me into getting myself killed. I am out of here, dude. Go find someone who would believe your lies!” I glared at Hans, who was still seated. “Get up, dude, and let’s get out of here!”
I grabbed his wrist and pulled him up from the sofa.
“Go think about it, Amelia. The lives of the Alpha bloodlines in this kingdom are in your hands. Only you can save them from the dark magic and curse cast on them by the sect leader. I will pray to the moon goddess to show it to you.”
I hissed loudly, turned my back on him, and stormed out of the apartment.
As we returned to the Packhouse, Hans tried brainwashing me into believing what the Healer said earlier on, but my mind doesn't buy it.
I am not a goddess or the descendant of a goddess. There is no way I will be able to kill that sect leader. Who knows? They might be a demon. And I am not a match with demons.
“He said you are chosen by the moon goddess. And do not forget, Healer Matt is said to be an oracle. He communicates directly with the goddess, so he would never lie to you.”
“Come on, Hans. Do you believe that? He is an oracle, yes, but how can he communicate with the goddess? This is a modern world, for goodness’ sake!”
For the remaining ride to the Packhouse, I was only focused on my phone, ignoring all that Hans was saying.
And when we arrived, I locked myself in the study room to avoid any disturbance from him.
“What if it is true?” Amy interrupted me, “The moon goddess does not lie, and her oracle can never lie on her. Healers like Healer Matt, who lives in all the packs in this kingdom, are direct oracles from the goddess. They pass her message to us, and it has never been wrong before. Also, it was the goddess who gifted you the magic and who showed you how to awaken it. Wasn't it Healer Matt?” She sighed deeply, shaking her head. “You cannot defy the goddess, Amelia. We cannot bring calamity into our pack.”
Now what!
“Amy, can you leave me alone, please? I am trying to figure out something. Do not disturb me.”
I blocked communication with her and focused on the game I was playing on my phone. I refused to be tempted. No, I cannot fight any idiot.
A loud knock came from the door, startling me. I wanted to ignore it, thinking it was Hans who had come to poison my mind, but the knock grew louder, piercing into my ears.
“Who is that!” I thundered, getting up from the chair in a fit of rage.
“It is I, General Lykon. There is something you’ve got to see.” He sounded so urgent, alarmed, and horrified about something.
When I opened the door, he bowed his head and pointed at the entrance door.
My eyes widened in shock when I saw the mighty door on the floor, shattered into pieces.
“How did that happen?” I asked, hurrying towards the door.
Earlier on, I heard a loud bang, but I thought the servants were breaking something. So it was the door? Who could have done this?
Getting closer, a strong smoky scent hit my nostrils, and I paused. The door pieces had smoke all over them, as if they had been burnt down.
And when I lowered myself to feel the smoke, I saw something, a black envelope, pinned on a piece of the door with an invisible smoke arrow.
‘I am coming for you, Amelia Brook; you are next.’
