Chapter 20 Take care of Xenon
(SHANNICA'S P.O.V)
FIVE DAYS LATER
It's been five days, and tomorrow... It's going to be Xander and I's official wedding day.
But before anything else, today we are on our way to the countryside where my Mom and brother lives. And I'm really worried how will they react on this, they will totally freak out for sure.
"I bet your Mom's pretty scary that's why you're restless and uneasy right now." Xander suddenly uttered while driving. I look at him and saw that he glance at me for a while and look again in the road.
Actually, it was him who convinced me that we should at least go and meet my Mom together before he marries me. He said it's uncomfortable for him to marry me without informing both sides of the family. That's why even though I'm hesitant to see them, I decided to give it a try, after all tomorrow's the wedding, they won't be able to stop me from remarrying either.
"I'm just kind of embarrassed... I'm not sure what I should tell them first.." I said.
Aside from that, I've been trying to approach Xenon ever since that day happened at their mansion but there's no any slight improvement at all. I still remember what Aunt Milla said to me that day,
FLASHBACK
"Young master Xenon is quite sensitive, please do understand, Miss Shannica." Aunt Milla started.
"Yes, of course. I do understand and I'm not planning to force myself to him or something. I know it will take some time." I answered.
Suddenly, Aunt Milla chuckled from what I said,
"It would take you forever I think."
I look at her confusedly. And why is that?
"I have a feeling that I have to tell you this, Ms. Shannica." she uttered.
I nod, "Go along it's okay, you can tell me."
She take a deep breath and starts talking,
"Ever since this mansion has been constructed, I was the first maid hired in this mansion, Ms. Shannica. I was hired by the former madame of this house, Arianna Lincoln, Sir Xander's wife." she added.
What's her point? Is she going to tell me to back off on this marriage too?
" I've witnessed everything in this mansion Ms. Shannica, how Madame Arianna used to take care all of us, and how she loves the young master Xenon while he is still on her tummy. I used to recall what she told me a week before her scheduled labor.... 'Aunt Milla, help me raise Xenon, okay? Xander, you, and I, we will raise Xenon together. Don't ever leave us, okay?' That is what she told me. Funny how she makes that kind of request yet she's the one who ends up leaving this world." she started to explains.
Arianna... So that's Xander's wife's name. They must have been so in love with each other back then. Come to think about it, Xander got married at a young age of 23?
I didn't say anything and just listen to what she's about to continue.
" And from the very moment Sir Xenon comes out to this world, I promised to myself that I would always be right by his side, I will help sir Xander and raise the child as my own too. But as the young master grows, he became indifferent, he understand things easily that makes him feel lonely, ans even myself, I failed to make him feel loved." she added that confused me.
How did that even happen?
" As you can see, Sir Xenon always distant himself to any of us, he never opens up or cling to anyone, even to his own father. He isolates himself and he prefers to be alone than being accompanied by someone. It's not like there's something wrong with him mentally, he already gone into check-ups, in fact he is a very smart kid, but we don't know what he were thinking, he's too cold and he never let anyone enters his heart."
"W-Why are you telling me all of this, Aunt Milla?" I asks.
She moves closer and held my left and right hand,
"Once you will officially marry the chairman, you will also become the official Madame of the mansion. I'm not asking you to cancel your marriage with Sir Xander because I know it's something that the Chairman also deserve... To find love again, and I know this day would happen. But, Ms. Shannica, all I am asking is about Sir Xenon, please take good care of our Young master. I'm not asking you to take full responsible for the kid, but at least be good to him." she ask favor and bow her head a little.
I was a bit surprised... Do I look like someone who would mistreat a young kid?
" Tressure him, as much as we all tressured him. I beg of you." she added still bowing her head to me.
I held her hand back and squish it a bit,
"Aunt Milla. Don't worry, I will never ever do anything to harm the kid. And before I said yes to Xander, I am already prepared to become a mother to Xenon, you have my word." Although it would be just for a year, I still promise to myself to become someone useful to the Lincoln's family.
"Thank you Miss Shannica." she said and finally she smiled to me.
Hmm, since after we get married, I have to learn so much things about being a temporary housewife and a mother, then I must first start in Xenon's education.
"By the way Aunt Milla, will you help me--"
"Shannica."
I wasn't be able to finish what I'm about to say when Xander suddenly popped up from our back.
"Sir Xander." Aunt Milla greeted him with respect.
"Aunt Milla, can you excuse us?" he asks. What's wrong?
"Oh sure. Of course." Aunt Milla responds and look at me. I smile at her in return before she walks away.
"I heard from Glenda that you were here with Xenon." he opens up.
"Oh yes. I-I'm sorry Xander, did you talk to him? He was pretty upset by me, I was just thinking that he could come with us and play after we finished our agenda with the wedding planner." I honestly answered.
Xander's brows furrowed, "Next time, just don't bother that kid, Shannica. He loves studying, he has no time to go out during weekends."
I unbelievably stare at Xander after hearing his words,
"What? Are you saying you never went out with your son during your free time? Like hanging out or spending quality time with him?" I asks
"Xenon doesn't want to. He hates it, I told you Shannica, my son is not like other kids you knew. Xenon is different, he's matured and loves spending time alone." he answers.
I felt irritated by his answer all of the sudden,
"How is he different? He is still a kid, and every kid has the right to spend time with their family, and crave attention by someone they love." I uttered staring at him.
Xander's facial expression became dark,
"Are you questioning my way of raising my son now, Shannica?" he asks in a serious tone.
"He is my son, you don't have to tell me what I should do. And about Xenon, please refrain from approaching him if you can't handle him. I didn't hold you responsible for him." he added. And it made me realizes that I nearly crosses the line.
Sht Shannica, you must be out of your mind.
" S-Sorry." I apologized and bend down my head.
"Let's go. I never go late to any of my appointments." He change the topic.
"A-Alright." I give up and sigh.
We walk thru his car and before he starts the engine, he look at me,
"My apologies for my sudden behavior, Shannica... I'm just also a little bit sensitive when Xenon is involve in the topic." he apologized.
There's one thing I am sure right now, Xander is not close to his son, Xenon. And Xenon distant himself for his dad. What's wrong with this two? Ugh.
END OF FLASHBACK
I was spacing out for a couple of minutes that I didn't even noticed that we are arriving at our destination. After more or less that 15 minutes, we have arrived in my home town and we stopped in front of our house. It's just an average home good for five people house.

Time check: 5:00 PM in the afternoon. Right, we traveled for almost two hours... Since we starts driving at 3:00 PM after Xander's meeting with a client.

My sister-in-law Jana was outside with her laundry so I went out from the car and call her,
"Jana. Is Mom and Shaun inside?"
Her eyes widened upon seeing me, as well after Xander went out from the car and walk towards my side.
"S-Shannica? W-Why are you here?" she asks.
