SHANNICA'S POV

"I'm asking you if they're home." I ask again. Well, Jana and I is not quite close so I just ask straight to the point.
"Shaun's inside with the baby... And Mom she's on the house next door, I-I'll call her." she said panicking while keep on glancing at Xander.
"Oh, please come in. Shaun! Shannica's here!" Jana yells from the outside.
"Who is she?" Xander whispers on my ears.
"A-Ah she's my sister-in-law, my brother's wife." I answered back in a low tone.
Shaun went out and also got surprised to see me.
"Shannica? W-What brought you here---" he stops talking as his attention was diverted at Xander.
"Who's he?" my brother Shaun asks. I sigh and decided to invite Xander to get in the house first.
"Shall we go in first?" I suggested to Xander. He immediately nods as a response.
We walk in and Shaun immediately fix the mess at the sofa.
"Sorry about the mess, I was formulating the baby's food." Shaun said after we entered the house.
It's been three years since I last went here... With Jayce.
"I'm sorry Xander, our home is nothing compares to yours..." I shyly said looking at him.
But instead of being uncomfortable, he extend his arm to my shoulder to held me closer.
"It's okay, love." he smiles so sweetly that surprised me. I gulped, he didn't need to act sweet tho.
My brother Shaun was too shock to say something, and remain standing in front of us.
"Uhm Xander, this is my little brother Shaun, and Shaun, this is Xander, my---" I wasn't be able to continue my words again when suddenly we heard a slam of a door and Jana enters the house together with Mom who is glaring at me right now.
"YOU USELESS CHILD, HOW DARE YOU COME HERE AFTER YOU AGREE TO DIVORCE JAYCE WITHOUT EVEN US KNOWING, HUH?! YOU'RE SUCH A DISGRACE IN MY NAME!" Mom shouted that both shocked me and Xander.
Dmn do she really need to yell like that? Have she already forgotten who saved her from the loan sharks who were about to kill her?!
"Mom stop..." Shaun was about to calm her down but she aggressive push away Shaun and face me,
"You couldn't even give Jayce a child, is that why you two got divorce? Well it does make sense, my daughter-in-law Jana is already pregnant with my second grandchild, but how about my own daughter?! WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE JAYCE A SINGLE CHILD?!" she shouted again.

"Mom. Enough, why can't you just move on?" I asks, trying to act as calm as I can.

"MOVE ON? YOU WICKED BTCH! COME TO THINK OF IT, IT WAS YOUR FAULT WHY JAYCE DECIDED TO DIVORCE YOU! ANY OF THIS WON'T HAPPEN IF YOU JUST DID YOUR JOB PROPERLY AS HIS WIFE. THE HOLSTEIN WOULD HAVE NOT ABANDONED US!
"JAYCE JAYCE JAYCE! STOP IT MOM! WHY DO YOU KEEP ON TALKING ABOUT THAT BSTARD WHO'S THE ONE WHO DUMPED YOUR DAUGHTER LIKE SOME TRASH HUH?! I WAS THE VICTIM HERE, I WAS THE ONE WHO GOT BADLY HURT! I WAS CHEATED AND BETRAYED BY THEM, BUT ALL YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT UP UNTIL NOW IS YOURSELF! YOUR REPUTATION!" I shouted back. I can't take it anymore... I did everything I can. I even agreed to a goddmn remarried in order to save her from her debt, BUT THIS IS HOW SHE WILL STILL TREAT ME?! BULLSHT!
"WHAT'S EVEN THERE IN YOUR REPUTATION, MOM? PRIDE? SELFISHNESS?! A MOTHER WHO DOESN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT HER DAUGHTER?!" I yelled again.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL BTCH---!!" Mom was about to hit me so instead of moving, I just close my eyes and waited for her hand so slap my cheeks, but...

3...
I didn't feel anything.
"And who the hell are you?!" I heard Mom's yelling voice so I opened my eyes. Xander is already in front of me, and the one who got hit by my Mom.
"X-Xander!" I immediately went in front of him, and noticed the redness on his face.
Dmn it, why did he catch the slap for me?
"WHAT'S THIS, SHANNICA? WHY ARE YOU BRINGING A MAN WITH YOU? DON'T TELL ME HE'S YOUR BOYFRIEND? IS HE THE REASON WHY YOU GOT DIVORCED IN THE FIRST PLACE? ARE YOU THE ONE CHEATING ON YOUR HUSBAND?!--"
"I SAID ENOUGH MOM! DMN IT I DIDN'T GO HERE TO ARGUE WITH YOU---"
I cut my words as Mom was about to hit me again but then Xander stops Mom's hand from slapping my face.
He held Mom's wrist and says,
"Please calm down ma'am. We were actually here to ask for your blessing." Xander said in a calm but scary glare in my Mom.
"B-Blessing?! What blessing?!" Mom hissed.
I sigh, "Mom I'm here to---"
Xander suddenly hush my lips, and stare at me with an 'I got this' look.
"My name is Xander Lincoln ma'am, I'm Shannica's fiancée. It's nice to meet you, and actually we are here to inform you that tomorrow.... we are going to get married. I am going to marry your daughter. She'll become my wife and will become a part of my family. Please allow us your blessing." Xander said straightforwardly.
I gulped, he really did said it. Both Mom, Jana, and Shaun dropped their jaws and remained speechless.
"You two are getting married?" Shaun repeated.
I sigh and nod, "Mom, actually I'm not here to ask for your blessing. Whether you agree or not, I'm still going to marry Xander, we're just here to inform you that." I added.
Xander went on my side and suddenly held my hand and intertwined our fingers,
"I will take care of your daughter's affairs in the future, so you don't need to bother, and please do respect her because I won't stay still if someone tries to harm my wife, even her own family." Xander said in a warning tone while holding my hand so tight.

I look at him, he looks so scary but cool at the same time. I know it sounded like a death threat to my family, but instead of getting mad, I appreciated his words for defending me.
"Please excuse my rudeness, but I think we should take our leave. My apologies for the inconvenience. Let's go, Shannica." he added. And starts turning his back on them and walk away while holding my hand tightly.
He opened the car door in the front seat to let me in, he turn around to the driver's seat and starts the engine.
