CHAPTER FOURTEEN
"Why? Why would your father do such a cruel thing." I asked with curiosity and compassion filling my voice.
" My father was engulfed by the quest for power and he would do anything for greater power. He exuded such authority that he would never allow anyone to question his authority no matter how close the person was to him. On that fateful day, I had gone to see her and she accompanied me back to my father's place. I didn't know Ayesha had seen me with her, and she went to report to my dad. She was taken and kept in the dungeon, I looked for her for several days but I couldn't get hold of her I thought she was hiding from me and didn't want to see me anymore, until the day when her dead body, was brought out of the dungeon and my dad gave the order to go dump her dead body in the town outskirts. I cried for days and I felt sick afterwards. I didn't really like Ayesha back then but at that point I hated her, I wanted to tear her skin and burn her to ashes in front of the whole pack. But I couldn't. I was powerless. My father's authority reigned supreme and he could do whatever he wanted and nobody, not even the higher members of the pack, could question his authority. " He said while wiping off his tears.
"I feel your pain, I'm sorry," I said, trying to get him over it.
"It's fine." He replied.
We had already finished eating but we were spending more time in the restaurant due to the discussion we were having it was taking longer than necessary so I asked if we could go back to the Mansion. It would be better if we talked about things there.
We got up to leave the restaurant, and we entered the car and drove off back to the house.
We got home and he opened the door for me to come in, we got in and as we sat on the chair I remembered a burning question that was running through my mind.
"Why was she here? And when did she leave?" I said.
"Who are you talking about?" Sebastian replied.
"Who else? Ayesha of course." I told him.
"Oh… well she has been abroad for a long time after I became king. We were supposed to get married immediately but she wanted to complete her studies and I was happy to oblige since I would be free from her clutches for a pretty long time. But her presence came as a surprise. I never expected her to be back. And after you walked upstairs that day she got angry and left immediately because she felt I was cheating on her and she threatened to deal with me severely. But that's all in the past. I want to immerse myself in the present, I don't want to think about the past, it's giving me a headache." He said as he tried to cover up the whole details.
I couldn't help but feel somehow, my mind was telling me he was hiding something and that was crucial. He's hiding something from me but why? Why is Sebastian hiding something from me? But I didn't want to be a pain in the neck. He's been emotional all day and we've been through a lot but now everything felt normal for the first time in several days. I felt alive and I didn't want this feeling to end. I want to immerse myself in the moment no matter how tough things are. I knew I had a chance with Sebastian, and I'll always be fine as long as he's with me
I'm not certain yet but, I think I like him so much, I can't call it love yet, love's a strong word. But I enjoyed everything about him, he was lovely, playful and also he's very handsome and charming. Anytime he is close to me I always have this burning desire that turns me overboard.
"I'm bored, show me around the house," I suggested.
"As your lordship pleases," he said.
But as we moved outside his phone beeps it was a message.
He stood there looking at the message with his mouth wide open. I looked at the message and it was Ayesha. She had been taken hostage by unknown men.
And it was a video, he hurriedly called the number and spoke to them. I asked "What's their motive? They've been messing with our lives and today's been the only day I felt sincerely free but now another problem. Why? Why must we face these problems? It's becoming overwhelming and I can't take it. Please tell me the real truth about everything. I know you're still hiding something from me. It's high time you let the cat out of the bag, who's chasing us? Why are we being chased? What are they after exactly? Please tell me. I need to know right now." I said as frustration and compassion etched in my voice.
"You really don't have to know, Ayesha's being kept hostage and I need to get her back or else the whole pack will outrage and they'll all be left in fear. I have the situation under control, don't worry my dear it's just a test of time we'll be fine I need to make some calls and I need to leave now please go to the bedroom and lock every door leading into the house switch if the lights and go to sleep, please I wouldn't forgive myself if anything were to happen to you. Please heed me and follow my advice. I'll be back very soon now, please go in." He said, trying to convince me to go in and sleep without him.
I wanted to convince him so I'd follow him but, I had a second thought and the only way I could really help him was to go in so he won't be worried about me too. " Please,e safe," I said softly as I retreated into the house and did all he instructed me to. I watched his car leave but I wasn't satisfied. I need to know the truth. I hope he comes back safe and sound.
