CHAPTER FIFTEEN

I laid there staring at the ceiling hoping for Sebastian's safety. He was the one that had given me a life beyond my father's emotional and physical abuse, all I wanted was for him to be happy nothing more. His duty was immense as the supreme leader of the pack, he was a king, but from my point of view, Sebastian was a great king although I've never seen him address any of his subjects the way he treated me, with respect and compassion I'm sure he would be that way with his subjects too. I wondered why he lived alone in the mansion and did not even have a single maid to help him out or anything. He lived alone in the gigantic house. If he was really a King then he should have some maids and soldiers right? I asked myself. But there was none. I stood up from the bed, unable to sleep. I decided to take a tour of the inner chambers. I wanted to know what Sebastian was exactly.

I left the room I was in and I opened the first chamber, it was filled with artworks of different kings and warriors in their wolf form. I left the first chamber and went into the second, it had nothing except for one framed painting. It looked exactly like me. "Wow" I screamed in excitement as I traced my fingers on the painting, it was different, unique and the texture was solid. I loved it but touching it drew my memory back to the dream I had in the hospital room where I saw myself. "What is this feeling?" I said to myself, subconsciously something pushed me to open the door opposite where I stood. The door looked more like an ancient door made with a piece of strong local wood. It was strong as I struggled to push it open. With one last push and with every ounce of my strength, the door swung open revealing what seemed more like my world with my images flying everywhere as paintings of me filled the room. I was shocked. " What is this?" I asked myself, this place felt more like my shrine than a room. What's happening I thought to myself, why are my pictures everywhere in Sebastian's house? It looked more like me but it looked ancient too. I tried touching the paintings and a flicker of white light images started coming back in my head. They weren't real images, they were so unclear. My head turned as I struggled to understand what was happening. The room felt more like a sanctuary for me, but why? Why would he fill a whole room with a painting of me, but it looked more like it was made anciently? The paper's texture was different. I wanted an answer. There's definitely more to me than meets the eye, and there's a secret only Sebastian knows that he's not letting me in on. But, why? I said standing there amazed and marvelled at the sight in front of me. My head was spinning and everything seemed to be flashing before my eyes, blurry images I couldn't see clearly. What are these images? I thought.

I withdrew from the room and locked the door. It was a thrilling experience, one filled with excitement and suspense of thinking about why that room seemed like a shrine made for me. I lay down on the bed, my thoughts drifted back in time to Alex, Alex was the first guy I ever liked, he was a very good friend but his death remained a shrouded mystery till today. Since then all I've faced was threatening emotional and psychological abuse until Sebastian showed up. He saved me but since I met him his life has been full of unrest and strange happenings have threatened to engulf him, he's always running here and there why? A man deserves some rest but that doesn't count for Sebastian whenever he tries to get some rest, something bad that requires his attention happens again. I really feel for him, maybe it was how destiny wanted it, a warrior not in the war front, but in the battle of life. Aside from all these thoughts, the question of who exactly was in those paintings lingered on in my mind but I wanted to get some sleep. It was evening already. Sebastian had gone since the afternoon and he wasn't back yet, "I really hope he's safe." I waited for him to get home when I suddenly heard the doorbell ringing.

I moved cautiously down the stairs and towards the door, I looked through the security hole it was Sebastian. "Why did he come this way without his car?" I thought. As I hurriedly opened the door and let him in.

The Sebastian I saw was different, his eyes were red like hot burning coal, his clothes were soaked in blood and he reeked of flesh and blood. The sight was dreadful as I shifted backwards, he looked so scary I'd never seen him this way. "We're leaving now." He declared without any other word.

"Why?" I asked trying to get additional information about what was happening and what happened "where's Ayesha."

"We're leaving, don't question me about anything else!" He said shouting at the top of his voice. Being scared turned me to fear as I couldn't look into Sebastian's eyes. Is this his real character? Was everything I saw a facade? Was everything I tend to believe in a lie? Was it because of what happened or did this side of him really exist? I was scared of him, Sebastian seemed more like a deadly wolf than a human, devoid of any of the compassion and love he's shown me. Was everything a lie? Did I fall wrong? Or this was all part of his plan from the beginning?

I dragged my feet along the ground as I went upstairs with Sebastian in front of me to pack every last piece of clothing as we set to leave the mansion. The thrill of where and what's next leaves me guessing as I forge deeper ahead into a life that remains shrouded in mystery.
