Chapter 131
Scarlett’s POV
Alexander's palm covered my neck, his fingertips applying slight pressure.
The sensual atmosphere in the room gradually cooled with the flash of anger in his eyes.
I raised my gaze to meet his directly, without a trace of fear.
"What? Not afraid of me?"
Seeing my reaction, the corner of his mouth curled into an even more playful smile.
Alexander reclined on the bed, his shirt open, revealing his muscular chest.
The wound on his shoulder was seeping fresh blood from our recent activity.
"What? Still not telling me the truth?"
His voice was deep and magnetic, yet carried an undeniable authority.
"You were the one who rejected me first. Is it wrong for me to protect myself?"
I said softly, my voice tinged with grievance.
Alexander sighed, his fingers sliding from my neck to my cheek, caressing gently.
"It was just one night with him. Didn't we agree? You would accompany Vernon, and afterward, I would grant whatever you asked." His blue eyes stared directly into mine. "But instead... you stabbed him. Do you know how much I lost because of you? My entire operation in Colombia, completely severed."
"You deserved it! Who told you to send me to accompany another man!"
The moment those words left my lips, Alexander's palm landed heavily on my backside.
I instantly drew in a sharp breath.
"Playing mind games with me?" his voice dangerously lowered. "Who taught you this? That Mr. Thomas?"
The sudden mention of Marvin made me accidentally bite my tongue again.
I immediately changed the subject, hoping to move past this matter.
"Alex, your wound is bleeding again."
I made a move to get off the bed, thinking of leaving quickly.
But I had barely moved when Alexander's powerful arm yanked me back.
"With you around, how many times must I die? Come here!"
He pulled me back onto the bed while picking up his phone to call Luke.
Left with no choice, I obediently returned. Before I could even sit on the edge of the bed, he tugged me back with a jerk.
His fingers roughly ground against my lips. "What did you drink that night?"
This action sent shivers down my spine. "Nothing..."
"Nothing?" Alexander's voice suddenly rose. "You're too lucky. If you enjoy being so reckless, why not save that energy for me in bed?"
He was interrogating me, and my heart was in my throat, yet somehow he still had the leisure to steer the conversation towards bedroom matters.
"Alex, I was wrong. I won't dare do it again!"
I grabbed his arm, pleading desperately. "I was truly wrong. I'll never act rashly again. I'll do whatever you say, just don't send me to other men. I'll do anything you want!"
Alexander's expression softened somewhat, an indulgent smile appearing at the corners of his mouth.
"Really? Anything?"
I nodded immediately, tears sliding down my cheeks.
"Here we go again," his tone turned impatient. "Of all the women around me, you're the most dramatic!"
I pouted, knowing the crisis had temporarily passed.
I asked softly, "Do you still like me?"
Alexander froze for a moment, his chest visibly rising and falling.
"Like you! Damn it, I like you!" He practically forced these words through clenched teeth. "I've nearly given my life for you."
Then he suddenly pressed me down on the bed. "Now hurry up and take care of me properly!"
Despite his crude words, when he actually pinned me beneath him, I saw his gaze soften.
His fingers threaded through my hair, carrying barely perceptible tenderness.
"Next time, I will never forgive you!"
He warned, but his voice had already lost its earlier sharpness.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
I quickly wiped away the tears from the corners of my eyes, while Alexander unhurriedly adjusted his clothes.
"Come in," he said briefly.
Luke pushed open the door. I immediately pretended to be crying softly into the pillow, not wanting him to see my face.
I heard Luke say something, then the sound of the door closing.
I secretly raised my head and saw that Luke had already left.
"He went to buy medicine," Alexander said, pointing to the bandage on his wound. Only then did I notice the bandage had already been replaced. "You don't need to pretend anymore."
I rolled my eyes but felt relieved inside.
After a while, the crisp sound of high heels came from the stairs, followed by Luke's urgent voice: "Miss Morgan! Please wait, Mr. Gray is resting!" Miss Morgan? That Isabel Morgan who looked so similar to me?
But clearly, she ignored Luke's attempt to stop her.
Because the knocking on the door began.
Alexander quickly stood up, wrapped a towel around himself, and gestured for me to be quiet.
I nodded, making no sound.
Alexander opened the door, blocking the entrance to prevent anyone from coming in.
Then a coquettish female voice came from the doorway, "I thought you were hiding a treasure here, taking so long to open the door. Is there really someone more beautiful than me inside?"
