Chapter 22
I held her in my arms for hours, just enjoying the feeling of her in my arms. The way it makes you feel complete, like she was my whole world. I was glad the worst conversation was over but that doesn't mean I'm not weary. Even if she says she understands she will never get over the fact that my first born was with other women who wasn't her.
For now, of course she'll deal and we'll start our relationship off with a bumpy start. But it started and that's what makes me happy more than anything. After what seemed like forever, I finally released her from my tight grip.
"You're not going to leave me, are you?"
I ask my voice cracking as I spoke, my heart clenching at every possible outcome and only one seemed okay. Mabel smiled warmly up at me and she shook her head.
"I'd never leave you"
She whispered rubbing my cheek with her hand.
"I've waited long enough to hold you in my arms"
She added and she smiled seeming to snap out of this sappy mood.
I smiled and grabbed her hand in mine,
"Do you want to go do something?"
I asked already trying to figure out where I'd take her if she wanted to go out. Maybe we'll copy my earlier idea and go get ice cream, but somewhere away from Jennifer's favourite ice cream parlour. I want a nice simple date, of some sorts. Mabel smiled happily and nodded,
"I wouldn't mind leaving the office for a while"
She said with a smile leading me by the hand outside into the clean open air. I took a deep pulp of this air and calmed down. Mabel and I were alright, she's accepted me and my situation and that's all I could ever have asked for anything more.
I'd always had fears that my mate would never accept my daughter and leave me rejected and abandoned. So, I have to thank my lucky stars that I got such a special and understanding mate.
We did utter a word as we walked through the local park. No words were needed, we were simply just enjoying each other’s company. The way mates should.
Nick's POV
"Daddy please!!!???"
Do you know how hard it is to resist your daughters wish? When she's pleading and begging for something she wanted, but you really didn't want to give it to her. My dear little daughter dear wanted to meet her suddenly alive aunt.
Bryn has never meet Bryn, nor do I think she knows she exists. She took my whole having a mate situation fairly okay, but I'm not sure how she'd react to my daughter who is names after herself. Bryn is typically an easy going person unless it’s something that involves betraying her trust or meddling with her emotions. So, I predict she'll smile and be touched that she was named after herself.
Even though I have a very good idea that she'd be fine with it, doesn't mean that I'm not nervous about them meeting each other. But of course, knowing me I'm over exaggerating.
"Okay sweetie let me think about it, go watch some TV"
I ask her and she nods with a smile and skips off. She's all happy because normally when I say let me think about it, I always say yes and again this time I'll probably say yes.
Amelia walked into the room with a smirk on her face and I grimaced feeling a conversation coming on.
"Honey why is Bryn grinning like I girl who was told Santa's coming?"
She said with a smile and I chuckled shaking my head in amusement.
"She wants her and Michael to meet Bryn and I said I'd think about it"
I told her hesitantly and she smiled brightly,
"I think that's a great idea, both the Bryn's will be thrilled to meet each other"
She said so enthusiastically it made me feel less stressed about the whole event.
"You think so?"
I asked and she nodded sure of herself.
"Well I will but not today, today I'm taking my children to the playground"
I said finally agreeing to the idea and Amelia smiled nodding her head in approval.
"Okay then I'll get Bryn into her sweatshirt, can you change Michael"
She asks waiting and I nodded and she smiled walking out of the room to get Bryn ready.
I smiled leaving the room behind her and walked into the lounge where Michael was playing with his baby toys. He was chewing on his teddy bear when I scoped him up off the floor and cradled him against my chest.
"Hey my little man"
I whispered in his ear and lifted him up high above my head and blew a raspberry on his stomach. He broke out into giggles which made me break into a smile. Taking him into his room, I changed his diaper and got him changed. Out of his onesie and into his track pants and football jersey. Don't forget his cute orange top that said 'I did 9 months on the inside' which I found hilarious. After putting on his little shoes I carried him into the lounge where Amelia sat on the couch lacing up Bryn's shoes.
My girls smiled up at us boys and once we seemed to be all geared up and ready, we all got into the car. Buckling Michael into his car seat I started the car and made the short drive to the local park which was just around the corner.
Almost as soon as we parked the car, Bryn practically threw herself from the car bolting for her favourite slide. Amelia chuckled as I laughed getting Michael out of his car seat and placed it in the pram Amelia set up for me.
I pushed Michael along with Amelia by our side and watched on as Bryn was playing on the playground. As Amelia and I sat on the park bench and watched as Bryn went down the slide and Michael played with his pacifier in his pram. I felt happier than I could ever be and no matter what happens in the future nothing could change that. Having a gorgeous mate and wife. Two perfect healthy children and my best friends returned to us safe and sound. Mates reunited, family found each other again and Bryn can finally get her happy ending and I'm determined to help her achieve that goal...
