Chapter 23
*the next day*
Bryn's POV
This morning I was terrified and excited at the same time. It was a weird frenzy, and it felt odd to experience. Mabel was supposed to email Jennifer's appointment results to us this morning and I was stressed.
The fact that I haven't received the email yet, was only adding fuel to the flame as I sat by my computer refreshing the tab every few minutes. To make the firing flames of my fire even more is the fact I haven't seen Mason since yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure how things are run at the psychology office but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take this long to fill out paperwork!
I swear men are never here when you need then and here when you really don't want them around. I was pacing the room so much I swear I could see a dent in the carpet from where I walked.
Nick and his mate Amelia walked into the room with a bright smile on their faces. Nick glanced my way and frowned once he saw my expression,
"Bryn what's wrong?"
He asks and I sigh in frustration,
"I'm about to find out if my daughter is insane or gifted and I'm completely pissed off because Mason is supposed to be here but he's off somewhere"
I snap yanking on the end of my hair and plopping down on the couch.
Nick stepped forward looking like he was coming to comfort me, but Amelia grabbed his arm and pulled him back. She leaned up and whispered in his arm,
"Girl time I believe, why don't you try and track down Mason"
She whispers but I can easily hear her, but I thought the gesture was nice. Nick nodded leaving the room and Amelia walked over and sat down on the couch beside me.
"I know exactly what you’re going through Bryn"
She told me and I scoffed,
"How on earth could you know what I've been through"
I said with a sniffle wiping m nose on the sleeve of my shirt. She chuckled nervously and took a deep breath.
"This isn't how we wanted to do this but Nick and I have a daughter who we had tested for gifts"
She whispered nervously and I froze. I turned away from Amelia and stared at the floor taking a moment to process the new information.
"Why didn't he tell me earlier?"
I asked almost to hurt that he hide something as important as his child from me. Amelia smiled apologetically at me,
"He didn't want to overwhelm you, after everything that happened and you returning to find that he's moved on and had children. He thought it would be too much for you to cope with"
She said hesitantly and I smiled brightly when I heard her slip up.
"Did you say children, as in plural!?"
I said excitingly and she chuckled,
"Gave birth to a little Michael 6 months ago"
She said and I smiled pulling the happy mum into a tight hug.
"I'm so happy for you"
I shrieked and she smiled at me in surprise.
"Really I thought you'd go crazy bitch on me"
She said with a chuckle and I giggled shaking my head.
"I would never do that, anyway I wouldn't have a right since I had a kid too so it'd be hypocritical"
I said and she nodded in an agreement.
"Anyway, what's your daughter's name?"
I ask remembering she never actually told me her name during our conversation. Amelia started blushing and avoiding eye contact with me and she cleared her throat looking pretty nervous.
"Come on it can't be that bad of a name, spit it out"
I ordered cheekily and she chuckled nervously before taking a deep breath, before turning to face me.
"We named Bryn, after hearing how much you meant to all the boys, I convinced Nick to allow us to name her after you"
She said in a soft voice smiling brightly at the end.
"But we didn't need to thankfully in the end since you returned safe and sound. Listen I know Nick wanted to tell you himself so can you be at least a little bit surprised when he tells you?"
She asked in a whisper and I nodded with a giggle.
"Don't worry I'll keep your dirty little secret"
I said with a smirk and we both burst out laughing. When we managed to calm down, I smiled at her.
"And I'm extremely touched you named your first born after a stranger you never meet"
I said and she nodded with my sweet smile,
"I felt honoured actually, that my daughter was named after this amazing woman that meant so much to my husband. I was a little jealous of your relationship at first, but I know you're happy with Jake now"
She said and I nodded hesitantly,
"Technically we're not together yet but very soon I think"
I said with a happy smile and she smiled along with me.
"I'm kind of glad we're friends, I didn't have any friends who were girls. Technically all I ever had was Lilly and she betrayed me so..."
I trailed off losing my train of thought as the pain of the memories took over. Amelia softly grabbed my hand and softly held it in her, I lifted my gaze to look into her eyes.
"If you ever need to just sit down and talk, I'm always open"
She said honestly and I smiled nodding thankfully. Seconds later I heard the sound of the front door opening and we bot turned to see Mason and Nick enter the room.
I stood up off the couch, anything but happy with him.
"MASON HENDERSON! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?"
I yelled like a crazed mother worrying over her teenage sons’ whereabouts. Mason and Nick both tensed back at the tone of my voice and Mason smiled nervously.
"I know I'm late but I was busy with..."
Before he could reply I blew up
"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WERE DOING, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SO I CAN CHEW ON YOUR NAILS"
I shouted viciously and he chuckled lightly.
"I meet my mate"
He suddenly announced knocking the shout right out of my throat. I smiled so brightly at him and he smiled happily back. Before I could reply and properly congratulate him, I heard a ding sound coming from my laptop. I glanced at Mason and me and I looked at the computer.
"Is that the doctor?"
He asks nervously and I shrugged, honestly not knowing.
"Only one way to find out?"
I say and we both glance at each other before bolting for the couch...
