Lexus saw Drew getting out of his office in a hurried act, with an incomprehensible facial expression. He waited for Drew to completely walk away from the premises before he entered his office. He knew that Trixie was still inside.
Trixie was sitting on the couch inside his office with tears trickling down her face. Seeing her like that Lexus could already determine that Trixie and Drew were not able to patch up the matter between them.
“Trixie,” he called her name without muttering any further words. She looked up at him and shook her head.
“It was useless talking to Drew,” Trixie said while controlling her sobs.
“Did you reject him already?” Lexus asked but in his mind, he hoped that nothing happened as such yet.
Trixie shook her head again. “Nope. He did not give me the chance. He just walked away.”
“Did he say, he does not want you, Trixie?”
“No. All he said was if I wanted to reject him, it is up to me. He said, he is nothing now and he cannot offer anything for me.”
Lexus’ forehead furrowed and hope suddenly filled his heart. “Trixie, give him some time. As I can see it, Drew is still in his moment where he is still having self-pity and could not yet accept the fact that he will not be the next Alpha anymore. Let him recover first. He will soon be appointed by Alpha Father as his next Beta in lieu of me. Soon, he will realize that he has still everything. My Alpha Father and I still consider him as our family. Father still considers him as his son, so nothing was actually taken from him except that Alpha title, which has been replaced with the Beta title. A Beta is still a powerful position Trixie, take note of that and soon, Drew will realize it. Be patient more and give him a little more space until he finally realizes what he will be losing if he loses you.”
With her tears continued rolling down, Trixie suddenly looked at Lexus with her eyes suddenly lighting with hope. She nodded.
“Trixie, Drew never attempts to reject you, and as a man, I knew why. Wait patiently and see. Your patience and continued love for him will pay off in the end.” Lexus smiled at Trixie and patted her right shoulder. “Go home first, and relax,” he added.
“Thank you, Lexus. If you will excuse me, I needed some sleep. I was not able to sleep well last night.” Trixie stood up and smiled at Lexus before finally walking out of the office.
Lexus got out of his office after a while and went directly to his Alpha father’s office, which is just a few steps away from his office. Alpha Daedos was already waiting for him inside.
“What’s up, son? Is it good news?” Alpha Daedos, put down the document he was reading when Lexus entered his office. He looked at Lexus, waiting for his news.
“Not so good news Alpha Father, but I could not say either as bad news. Anyhow, neither Trixie nor Drew reject made a rejection toward each other,” Lexus replied and then continued telling his father what Drew told Trixie.
“I see. I guess you are right, son. Drew is still in his coping up situation. Trixie should master her patience toward Drew first.” Alpha Daedos affirmed Lexus’ analysis of Drew’s current condition.

Inside her room, Daffodil was checking on her business e-mails. It has been months that she was not physically present in their office and she has to admit that she neglected a lot of things in their business already. Although her adoptive parents did not say anything about it, Daffodil felt ashamed somehow about it. After almost three hours, she was able to read and reply to the messages in her e-mail inbox and she felt relief upon doing so.
Daffodil laid her back on her bed and was suddenly in deep thought. What will happen to her about-to-retire adoptive parents, who are depending on her to continue their business empire if she will stay for good here in the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack’s packhouse? She is at a crossroads this time. She could not tell Lexus yet of her dilemma about her adoptive parents. She could not totally abandon them, as they needed her. She is the only heir of Mr. and Mrs. Marby, her adoptive parents. Leaving them in their old age, was not she thought before that she could ever do. “I need to discuss these things with Lexus,” she thought wearily.
She stared at her wristwatch and noticed that it was almost mid-noon. She shook her head as she felt the rumbling of her stomach. She forgot the passing of time while trying to catch up with her pending work in the office. She alighted from her bed, refreshed and fixed herself, and then decided to go to the dining area. She did not feel Lexus’ presence in the packhouse as she got out of her room and even when she was already nearing the dining hall. She tried to mindlink him but she could not reach him. Daffodil furrowed.
Walking fast to the dining area, she did not notice that someone saw her and followed her inside.
“Daffodil.” A baritone voice calling her name surprised Daffodil. She was about to pull a chair in the dining room but was suddenly interrupted by a call. She quickly turned her head and her eyes suddenly squinted.
“So, you are back indeed, Drew,” Daffodil said with a cold expression while her eyes darted toward Drew.
“Yes, I am back Daffodil. It seems that only the two of us would be eating lunch at this moment.” Drew retorted calmly and thereafter pulled the chair that was about to be pulled by Daffodil a moment ago. “Take a set, Daffodil,” he murmured, his lips were so near Daffodil’s ears.
Daffodil stiffened but then decided to shrug off and then sat on the chair offered by Drew, while the latter sat on another chair across the table, fronting her.
Drew called the nearby Omega maid, who was actually about to approach the dining table.
“The food is ready Sir Drew and Ma’am Daffodil, should I serve them now?” the Omega maid asked politely after she bowed her head a bit as a sign of greeting and respect to Daffodil and Drew.
“Yes, please.” It was Drew who answered the maid. He then looked at Daffodil and released a forced smile. “Congratulations. I heard, you and Lexus are getting married soon.”
“Thank you. I hope you could attend the wedding peacefully,” Daffodil replied with a hint of a warning in her voice. She gave an emphasis in her voice as she mentioned the word peacefully.
Drew chuckled and let out a peal of fake laughter. “Why? Are you afraid Daffodil that I will do things to stop your marriage with Lexus?”
“Will you, Drew?”
Drew chuckled again and then shook his head. “How could I still do that Daffodil? Even if I wanted to, I cannot do so in my recent situation. So, be at peace, Daffodil.”
Daffodil keenly looked at Drew as if trying to decipher if what he just said was with sincerity. Seeing the relaxed expression of Drew and his sudden cold demeanor, Daffodil shook her head too. “I will not be too complacent, Drew. I just hope what you said was not mere lip service, otherwise, you will know what this golden she-wolf is capable of,” she said with a firm voice while her eyes were looking deeply at him.
Drew’s expression suddenly turned colder. He looked at Daffodil back with the same intensity. “If you will not believe what I said Daffodil, then so be it. I have no intention to force you to believe.”
Daffodil did not reply back at Drew, she just looked at him with an unfathomable expression. She cannot trust Drew yet, and she knew that she needs to be on guard, while he is around.
