Chapter 75 46
Chapter 75 46
After sleeping for hours, I woke up in a strange room. A smile curled up on my face. I was dead to him, that eccentric person and the stalker wouldn't chase me ever. I could roam freely around. No one would stalk me, scare me.
I never thought I would be happy considering people that I was dead. Did Duante do this because of something? He wouldn't have told me because of my pregnancy.
A soft tap came from the door. "Ma'am, please wake up. You need to eat." I heard Assassin.
Sometimes, he reminded me of my father. He took care of me as a father took care of his daughter.
We were in Australia. Devil picked this place as Andrew had no connection here. I could live freely now. I never could imagine that my fake death would bring me freedom.
I got the door. "Assassin, did you hear anything from Tom? I wanna talk to him."
He shook his head. "As Sir is pretending to be on their side. That won't be a good idea. A little hint could lead him here. So much traveling isn't good for your health."
I slowly nodded. "Let me know if he calls.”
"I will." He took a step back. "This is not cold. Would you like to have your lunch outside?" He asked.
I clapped my hands together excitedly. "That would be great." I walked out of the room in my pyjamas and full sleeve top. "Is Devil here?" I asked. I hadn't seen the video yet. I couldn't talk to him. He was with Tom. Tom explained everything to me. "I wanna go out shopping." I said seeing a clear deep blue sky.
"Online shopping will be a great option, ma'am. You can't be seen in public." Suddenly, Devil said trending toward us.
My eyes narrowed at him. It felt for a moment that the words were out of Duante's mouth. "Alright." I turned to Assassin. "Shouldn't you tell me something?" I asked Devil.
Assassin looked over my shoulder at Devil. He left us alone without a word. My eyes full of confusion turned to him. "Why don't you remove your mask. I have seen you, Aaron." There was doubt in my mind that he could be someone else.
His hand went up as he removed the hood and glanced at me with his amber eyes lifting it slightly. "You're hungry. " He reminded me.
My eyes darted around to find the voice but nothing. It was just us. I walked over to the table which was settled outside in the sun. The air was cool and the atmosphere was warm. Perfect weather!
My feelings started to seep through. How could I feel him around me? It happened for a very little time. As he was here and now gone. I ignored them. There was only one person around me.
"Remove your mask." I told him.
He tilted his head. "You've seen me, ma'am."
"Nothing wrong in showing your face again." I told him, stepping forward. I was gonna remove it whether he wanted it or not.
He strode ahead, suddenly filling the air with tension. " You must have hired me. But I don't take orders from anyone, particularly from a pregnant woman." He wasn't giving me a positive feeling while saying it.
"I haven't hired you, Aaron. It's my husband." I reminded him.
"You're just a contract for me. Nothing else." He snapped.
"Contract?" I opened my mouth but I shut it. I shouldn't alert him. "People say my husband died." My voice was thick with emotions.
"I can't see this on your face." He tilted his neck again.
I fisted my hands to reach out. "Because he's not dead. He must be around me watching me suffer, feeling proud of himself for making his pregnant wife go through all this." I didn't believe a word I said. I wanted to know his reaction.
"You should be glad that he died." He snapped turning on his heels.
"And left me to greedy people." I snapped back. Sudden anger coursed through me. "You should better watch your mouth."
"Or what?" His voice was challenging.
He spun sharply, twisting my wrist behind. "You're not in power, Mrs Rego. It's you who should want your mouth. I'm an assassin. I'll slit you in less than a second. You'll know after unbearable pain grasping you." He invaded my personal space.
"Suicide would be better than dying with your hands." I twisted my wrist to get it free.
I took quick steps back to maintain distance. I wanted to shatter something. There wasn't doubt that he would hit me back. If he could threaten me, he could hurt me. His hands were clenched at his side.
"Get out of my sight before I hit you with something." I spun to see his reaction but he was already out of sight. "Dunno.... why am I so furious at him? He can't be him. He wouldn't... but I didn't want to believe it completely. I was feeling weak and angry. Tears welled out of my eyes. I was feeling helpless these days. What I was feeling these days was beyond my imagination. I couldn't talk to my friends, family and Tom. They considered me dead.
I stared in the distance before persuading myself to eat. I couldn't skip food. I would meet my husband then he would face my wrath.
I was feeling better after filling my belly with delicious food. But the helpless feeling didn't leave me. It was going to be with me for a long time. I had a feeling he was not around me. Though, I wanted the opposite.
