Chapter 76 47

Chapter 76 47

To distract myself I draped myself in a dark green gown with a slit to one side, thin strips, white snickers. It was puffy from under my waist, hiding my belly.

"No, ma'am. I've told you you can't go out. Online shopping will be the best." Assassin said, shaking his head, thinning his lips as if I was a kid and it would persuade me.

"I'll cover my face or a cap." I said.

"It would be crowded there. No, ma'am." Assassin shook his head.

"I'm going. You can't order me." My lips flattened.

"You can go with me. As I'm incharge." My head turned hearing his deep, sudden voice. He wasn't wearing any mask and hood today. A blue half sleeves tee was laying on his muscular body, showing v-shape. He was looking handsome.

I averted my gaze. "I'm not going with him. We're going, Assassin." I wanted to snap. After what he did to me yesterday. Why did he think I would pluck a single step with him, willingly, until I'm in trouble.

"You're coming with me, Mrs Rego or stay here debating with him." Aaron said.

I glared at him. He put the cap on my head and strode out.

"Arrogant," I muttered with hatred.

Assassin adjusted it over my head gently. "I'll be in the crowd, near you, ma'am. I'll slit him if he dares to harm you. But we can't forget, he saved you." He smiled down at me.

"He's rude. I hate him." I was angry.

"They're different kinds." He offered me his arm.

I curled my arm around the crook of his arm, getting on my feet. He walked me out. A black SUV was already pulled over in front of the giant door's gravel road. The mansion was gorgeous, modern and full of expansive furniture like his other properties. He opened the door for me.

My eyes lifted to him, sitting behind the wheels. Arrogant Ass! My lips flattened in irritation. My fists balled. "My purse," I muttered to him.

"He's going to pay the bill. Sir would translate in his account." Assassin said.

I nodded. "Don't leave me alone with him." I grasped the negativity about him in my head. I slid in.

Assassin nodded, closing the door softly behind me.

He ignited the car and pulled away from the private path of the mansion to the highway. I kept my gaze out of the window. I was trying to forget his presence in the car, around me. He wasn't less dangerous without his hood and the mask.

"You should wear something usual that every five-months-pregnant woman puts on." He said.

I didn't realize my heart was hammering until now and it had been five months. My head jerked to him. "I'm not the usual one. And it's not your business."

He smirked. "Feisty woman."

I held my tongue for further argument. He would just infuriate me more. I didn't want to spoil my mood. He had already done damage coming with me.

Five months! It echoed in my head. I had spent a long time without him. It never happened. Tom was always around me, trying to keep a smile on my face. I held back the tears.

He must be one of his hooded friends. He helped to carry my shopping bags to the car. I ignored them, taking my time to select matching clothes for us, me and my baby. I had picked some matching shirts for Duante too. I wanted him around me, standing one step behind me while I selected them for us. I wiped a single tear that slid down my cheeks.

"Sit down for a while, ma'am." Assassin murmured, picking a black shirt for him.

I was actually tired. But in my thoughts, I couldn't think of anything else. Drifting my eyes around, I sat on the empty bench. I watched people going, coming, laughing and a couple kissing. I giggled but hid it immediately.

Aaron came with a cup and a paper bag "Your food." He said, still holding them.

"I'm not hungry." I looked away.

"It's for your baby." I looked at him. His forehead was scowled. "Next time, I'm gonna pick your dress."

My brows creased. I felt anger. "Excuse me,"

He opened his mouth and clamped them together.

"Hi, beautiful roses for beautiful you." A bunch of roses was pushed before my face.

My nostrils filled with the scent. It helped to placate my anger. A slow smile crawled on my lips.

"I know you like them." His soft voice poured in my ears.

I looked up at him. He must be around his mid twenty, clean shaved, blue eyes smiling down at me. He was cute. He forwarded his hand, still grinning ear to ear.

I saw over his shoulder a group of men and women near his age. They must have bet on something.

Before I could answer him, a large hand grasped the beautiful flowers in his hand and crushed them, ruining them. He yanked them away and propelled them in aggression. He lowered his body over his, his cold eyes glaring at him.

"Easy, man. They weren't for you." The man told with a nervous smile as he pulled away from his dominating posture.

"Can't you see her rings." He growled under breath.

"She doesn't look happy with you. See it yourself." He gestured at me,

"It's her mood swings." Aaron took a small threatening step forward.

The man's eyes widened in terror. His mouth gaped as he took steps back. "It-it is just a prank Bro-ther. I-I..." He fell on his arse, horror still clinging to his features.

His friends rushed to him. "We're sorry. We didn't mean to bother you and your wife." The girl with thick glasses and braces spoke.

"I'm not his wife." I snapped.

Their big eyes turned to me. They pulled their friends on his feet and then strolled away.

My lips flattened as I glared at them and turned to him. "Stay away from me." I snapped, sauntering away from him. I let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Assassin. "Take me home." I muttered to him, lowering my chin. We didn't want to capture ourselves in any picture.

We took the elevator. Assassin turned to me. "Are you okay, ma'am." he asked.

Aaron snorted but he didn't look at us.

I glared at Aaron. "I'm fine, just irked."

"He was flirting with you." Aaron said, still not looking at us.

"I can handle things like this. I don't know what you did. But you scared him. It's not your mafia world. There are innocent people." I couldn't keep irritation away from the voice.

"If you're so bothered about them. You should be glad I did not shoot him." Aaron growled.

I opened my mouth. Assassin shook his head. I blinked in confusion. He was always strong. Why was he looking frightened of him? I had seen this expression years ago when his knife was on my neck and his eyes were on my husband. I looked around for the camera. Nothing! Duante wasn't around us. What was troubling him, then?

I ambled out of the elevator as it opened with a sharp ding. Immediately, I was surrounded by his guards. Everything seemed nice but his interference disturbed me.

"Leave me alone." I said, with starting anger and stalked away. They ignored me.

Assassin came to my side in a few seconds. I had a lot of bad experiences for today. I walked silently. He opened the door after reaching the car.

"You know where he is. Tell him to end this before I lose my patience." I said in exasperation.

"I do not know what you're talking about, ma'am." He lowered his chin.

"Of course, you would say so." I muttered to myself rather than to him.

I shouldn't forget my husband is more powerful than me or anyone in this world. I had tried every possibility to find him. He made certain I never reached him. I could sometimes feel him around me. After he disappeared, I didn't hear or get anything suspicious. The stalker's chapter seemed almost to come to an end. Suddenly, Uncle wanted me to marry. I never heard about his son before. Tom and Duante knew but they never considered telling me. It was complicated. Instead of finding him, I should try to sort out the mystery. But it was impossible without a phone and internet. Or I could do one thing. Go back home, where Andrew and Antonio Uncle would provide me everything.

"No, that would be suicide." I murmured under my breath, shaking my head. When I felt the soft breeze swiping against my skin, I looked to the side. Aaron was looking at me with a frown. "What?" My voice was full of irritation.

"Don't try to run this time. Look at yourself first before doing anything stupid." He slammed the door shut.

"Why did Duante hire this arrogant?" I snorted, muttering under my breath.

"He's the best at his job." Assassin said.

"And dominate one." I retorted.

Aaron got in the passenger seat. It felt as if he had borrowed some attitude from my husband. For now, arguing with him wasn't on my to-do list. I would soon start losing my patience if I couldn't find my husband. I could only pray that Tom would find him. I couldn't forget Cristiano' words also. If Duante had decided something I couldn't stop him.

The days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Everything was changing around me, even my body too. My stomach was round. I avoided going out and tried to stay away from the company of people I hated but wasn't a fan of either.

I was happy today. Tom was the father of a cute little angel. I hadn't seen her but she must be cute. Assassin told me this morning when I came out of the room for breakfast. It was in the news. They were also expecting from me. It was clearing one thing for certain that they didn't consider me dead. The danger was still out there, finding me. At least I got something good to hear today.

"Have they shown the baby's picture?" I asked, taking the last bite of my food. I washed it down my throat with orange juice.

"No, just an old picture or Sir and ma'am." Assassin said.

I nodded my head in understanding but disappointment engulfed me. I would be there if Duante wouldn't have thought about himself. I rubbed the side of my face.

No! It can't be. He would keep his family first, above all.

I released a slow breath to wrangle my nerves. I wouldn't forgive him for suddenly disappearing, leaving me like this. I touched the side of my round stomach. I was happy to see and feel our baby growing, but it angered me to not find him around me. The tension in my chest was becoming unbearable. I truly didn't know what to do. I held back the tears.

"I wanna go to a club." I abruptly said. That wasn't my thing, but I needed a distraction.

All heads turned to me, slightly shocked looking on their faces. I was thankful that Aaron and his hooded companions weren't part of the stares coming my way.

"That won't be wise, you know." Assassin was the one to break the silence.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm going." I said,

"Ma'am, you're going to throw up all the time." Jackie said, with slightly round eyes.

"That's not happening." More soft voices echoed in the hall.

"I'm going myself or you're taking me there." I told them, hoping to not start an argument with them.

Assassin inhaled deeply, shaking his head slightly, disapproving of my stubbornness. I felt bad making their job difficult.

"I can cancel it if you tell me where my husband is? Did something happen to him." The fear knotted my inside. I never let negative thinking occur in my head. Last time they kept me away from him when he lost his memory. Goosebumps rose along my skin while recalling it.

It felt dead silence, all sets of eyes were at me with softness and concern.

"Ma'am, you're our priority. Boss would kill us without hearing a word if something happens to you." Victor said.

It's my baby who's keeping me strong. They don't need to know. Can Duante kill them? I don't know if they're his family. He didn't kill me when I lied to him about my pregnancy.

I gulped, swallowing my emotions. "I wanna go out." I told them, not backing up.

"At six?" Ben asked and met his gaze with others.

I nodded sauntering away from the table. Tears trailed down my eyes. I couldn't always be strong. What would he be thinking when he decided to disappear? That our baby would keep me strong?

My mouth gaped when Ben pulled the car over. They picked a park. I could see kids playing, couples and people eating the street food, some women helping their kids to climb the swings.

"What were you guys thinking?" I asked softly.

Assassin climbed out of the car and whirled to open the door for me.

"It was Zhang's idea." Cey said from the driver seat.

"Of course," I rolled my eyes. But I couldn't deny that I was happy to be here.
