Chapter 97 Another Secret
Robin was so desperate now, even though from the beginning he had been so, so, so sure that maybe he could find clues and be able to solve this whole case. Even the one person she hoped could help her in any situation, because she was so afraid that this person, who was so kind and upright, would ultimately be slapped with the reality that no one could have imagined: he was involved in this murder case and involved in everything, and that was what truly devastated Robin.
"Do you know something?"
The question succeeded in making Robin lower her head slightly until she finally confessed.
"When we were at the scene of the murder of the highest-ranking police chief in our country, I saw Mr. Michelle in the victim's room. However, he was no longer there, and I'm sure I wasn't mistaken and it really was Mr. Michelle. The problem is, why was he there? What was his purpose? And I wonder if he secretly wanted to investigate this case? But I'm not sure because the only thing that makes me certain is the high possibility of this case. If he might cover it up, isn't he one of the suspects? Maybe he's trying to erase and eliminate all traces and evidence that might reveal the case. I don't know, I can't trust anyone, and everything makes me so confused."
"Come here, I'll wait for you at a bar, we'll try to calm down together over everything that happened because I'm still in shock."
"I just met your husband."
The province said this so firmly. Julia, hearing this, remained silent, unable to say anything. "And this could have gone wrong, it couldn't have happened at all. It's impossible for this case to have happened. All of us are victims, if one of us finds evidence to make him a suspect. I could have recorded the entire conversation, but I feel so incredibly guilty and don't even know how to discuss this matter properly. I feel guilty as a police officer for not being able to help him seek justice for his parents' deaths, and even for having so much of his parents' money stolen. I feel like justice in this world has truly run out. This is the lowest point of those who are capable of destroying everything. And the second, far more terrifying thing is when I can't figure out how to be kind to some things that shouldn't have happened."
Julia was stunned, in disbelief, and didn't even know what else to say. She was now silent, overcome with emotions, and even felt like crying when she heard the truth: her husband had finally admitted that he was the son of the parents who had been murdered so horribly a dozen years ago.
"Do you think we can help him? I've been so stubborn and so sure that I could help him and do so many things so well. But over time, I just couldn't find anyone to help me reveal the truth. Even if I told Mr. Michelle, he'd become a suspect in this case, which certainly wouldn't be a good thing. And if I reported this to the government or the police, I wouldn't be able to get justice because they, too, were suspects. Even though we've tried our best and presented the truth, we still won't know what could have won this case. Money can never be returned, and neither can lives. So why is everything going on like this?"
Robin was silent, his mouth feeling like it had been slapped by the reality.
"The only thing we can do is refer to the world, but the problem is that businessmen from other countries are also involved in this case, and I'm absolutely certain that the thirteen high-ranking officials involved in all these cases, even those that are crucial to the world government, will definitely not help us."
"What do you think we can do?"
"I don't know, but if my husband were in my position, the only thing I could do is do what he's doing now."
Julia confirmed this. Who would do this, of course, and who would do what her husband would do.
"It's just that what I'm curious about is that, no matter how rich your husband is, even though he hired a hitman, the death of everyone there makes me curious."
"What makes you curious?"
"Their deaths didn't even leave a single blemish, and it was so incredibly easy. The suicide and the accident were so perfect, no one could do that except someone extremely experienced. Even the most extraordinary killer would leave a trace, but this one didn't. Who exactly did your husband send? Or even who is your husband? Because he told me there was a big secret he was keeping, and he said that if I found out, I would most likely hate him and even become a police officer just to catch him. All the riddles your husband gave me really made me feel incredibly curious, and I was so confused about what I should do to find out everything I should have known from the start, and I wouldn't have to blame anyone."
The lecture fell silent again, a question that would never make the woman say anything. How could she possibly say that her husband was a mafia member? Even her husband hadn't said anything, meaning she, as his wife, would never say anything either. And right now, Julia was still trying to accept it all, but her feelings weren't right.
“I don’t know what to say when you ask me like this, because our marriage is a marriage without discussing crime issues and so on. As far as I know from my husband, as far as I know from him, he is a really, really good person, he always tries to make me happy and also my happiness. Even when I’m angry with him, he will never be able to hold it in for more than 5 minutes, he will definitely say anything to make me happy and do anything that even seems impossible in the eyes of many people. That’s what made me fall in love with him without reason and also selflessly and that’s what makes me feel so very appreciative of him as a husband. Then I found out this fact and at first I already knew, and I was so very shocked when we found out that there wasn’t only one suspect in the murder of his parents, and do you know how devastated he was a few days after finding out? He really didn’t want to leave his office and didn’t want to eat or do anything. His heart was really so broken that I knew that the trauma would definitely make him not know what to say anymore. Until finally I suddenly heard the news that One of them died, and then he came out feeling so completely different, as if he wasn't the husband I'd known so well. He was like a different person, scaring me to death."
