Brianna's POV

Ryan and I were together until evening. I didn't want him to move around yet so I went to check Helen by myself but she wasn't awake still.

"How is she?" Ryan asked when I got back

"Still the same" I said with a sigh and sat down

"We still have few hours left and I believe Helen will survive it so don't worry about a thing" he said soothingly

"I'm trying not to worry but I just can't help but think that she really might not wake up. If she doesn't wake up, I have no reason to live anymore" I said

"You have no reason to live? What about me? You didn't think about how I would feel before saying that?" Ryan asked

"I thought about it. You will miss me for a short while but then you will move on after some time. Helen has been with me for a very long time and she's the reason why I'm even alive right now. I would have given up long ago if it weren't for her" I said

"If Helen and I are drowning, who will you save first?" he asked

"I don't know. Both of you can't drown at the same time so no need to ask me that" I said

"No problem, I've gotten your answer already" he said

"Are you getting mad at me even though you just woke up today? I missed you a lot when you were in a coma and now, this is how you treat me" I said

"Sorry about that, I wasn't myself for a while" he said

"We both know that's a lie. Anyway, what would you like for dinner?" I asked him

"I'll eat anything as long as you cook it yourself. Don't forget to take guards with you when you're going to the mansion and make sure they are with you at all time" he instructed

"Yes daddy" I teased

"Ma'am Brianna, Helen just woke up" a guard informed me

"What? Helen...? But I was there a few minutes ago" I mumbled

"I will be right back Ryan, I need to confirm it" I said and hurriedly left without listening to his response

When I got there the doctors and nurses were there already and just like the guard said, Helen was really awake.

I opened the door and slowly walked in with tears of joy rolling down my cheeks. The doctors finished their work and left us alone.

"Look who we have here, it's our crybaby" Helen teased

Her voice was really weak which showed that she was yet to recover properly but that wasn't a problem for me. Just hearing her voice alone and seeing her stare back at me is more than enough.

I sat beside her and gently took her hands in mine. Even though I badly wanted to hug her, at the same time I didn't want to make a mistake of hurting her or complicating things with the hug because I know I'm going to hug her tight.

"Helen, how are you feeling?" I asked softly

"Acting like this doesn't suit you. I'm awake and fine now so why are you still crying?" she asked with an eye roll

"You won't be saying this if you heard what the doctor said three days ago" I said

"What did the doctor say? Did he say I was going to die?" she asked

"No he didn't. If he had said that, i would have at least prepared to die with you. He said you had 72 crucial hours. If you didn't wake up within that time you won't survive and today is the third day. I was really scared when you didn't open your eyes" I said

"So you were going to die with me? You are still as stupid as before. If you want to die with me, what about Ryan? You love him and he loves you too, didn't you think about him?" she scolded

"Ryan is important but you are more important. You are like a sister to me so how can I continue to live after killing you?" I asked

"You didn't shoot me, Justin did. Stop blaming yourself unnecessarily and find something better to do" she said

"Why did you even go there in the first place? You know you can't fight" I sniffled

"What were you expecting me to do? Justin wanted to forcefully take your virginity, I couldn't just sit back and do nothing" she said

"H...how did you know that?" I stuttered

"I was listening to everything. Have you taken out the microchip?" she asked

"You even know about that too? I'm sure those guards told you and I'm going to deal with them as soon as Ryan gets better and leave this hospital" I gritted

"So you are only concerned about Ryan. What if Ryan gets better and I haven't gotten better?" she asked

"You just told me to worry about Ryan more than you but you're saying something else now" I rolled my eyes

"Is he awake?" she asked

"He came to that place on the day you came too but I think you've lost consciousness by the time he arrived. Even though he just woke up, he still got shot in my place" I explained

"Wow! Lover boy. How is he now? Shouldn't you be with him?" she asked

"He's awake and I was with him before I came here" I answered

"Okay. Go and prepare dinner for us then or you want us to starve to death now that we are finally awake?" she asked

"I'm going already. Take care of yourself until I come" I covered her properly and returned to Ryan's ward

Immediately I got in, Ryan faced the other side and ignored me completely.

"Don't tell me you're jealous of my best friend" I scoffed

"You can go back and spend the night with her" he said without looking at me

"How did you know that I plan to do that? You must have listened to our conversation" I gasped

"You really would spend the night with her?" he asked now facing me

"Why are you so jealous? What if it was a guy?" I asked

"A guy? So you will leave me alone and go to see another guy?" he scoffed

"Of course if he's sick. Let's say Oscar fell sick now and didn't wake up for about two days, I will definitely go and see him once he's awake" I said

"Okay. You don't need to wait until he falls sick, just go to him now" he said and turned around again

I couldn't control myself this time around so I bursted into laugher.

"You need to see your face when you are jealous. Anyway, I was kidding. I won't spend the night with Helen but I need to go home and prepare dinner for three of us" I said

"Whatever, just do what you want" he shrugged

"Are you still upset? I really was just joking, I didn't mean any of those things I said"

"Then why did you say them?" he asked

"I wanted to see your reaction and I've seen it already" I said

"You must be really happy then" he said

"It's really not fair Ryan. Can't I joke again?" I pouted

"You can. Sorry I went overboard, I was just upset when you mentioned Oscar" he said

"So you're not upset again?" I asked with a smile

"I'm not. You can go and make dinner now" he said

I kissed his cheeks and went to the mansion with some guards just like he said.
