💠 Chapter 76 💠

Brianna’s POV

For the past two days, I haven’t been eating and bathing. I haven’t even been sleeping properly either. Whenever I sleep, it means I fell asleep while sitting and I always wake up with body pains.

Ryan’s guards forced me to go to the mansion to bath and eat today but I couldn’t eat after bathing, I just didn’t have the appetite. I don’t know if Helen will be able to survive this yet so how can I eat?

Ryan has also been unconscious for two days and the doctor keeps saying I should exercise patience. They said Ryan would survive since he’s strong but I wonder why he hasn’t opened his eyes since.

I managed to eat a little amount of food and returned to the hospital. I stayed in Ryan’s ward until evening before going out for a walk. The police told me that Justin escaped but they’ve been searching for him. I just hope they get him soon before he causes more harm to Ryan.

I don’t know why Ryan had to take the bullet for me even though he knows how sick he is. I guess he wants me to feel guilty for the rest of my life. After taking a walk for a few minutes, I returned to Ryan’s ward.

Immediately I got in, I heard him groan and I quickly ran to meet him.

“Ryan! Ryan!” I called severally but got no response again so I went to call the doctor

“Doctor, how is he?” I asked worriedly

“He is fine now and hopefully, he will wake up tomorrow” the doctor said

“Tomorrow? Really?” I asked excitedly

“Yes, he will wake up tomorrow from the checkup I did” the doctor answered and left

I can’t believe Ryan is going to wake up tomorrow. This time, I will make sure to be by his side when he wakes up. I won’t even try to fall asleep from now until he wakes up.

*Next morning*

Like I said, I didn’t close my eyes even though I was feeling sleepy. I want to be the first person to see Ryan when he wakes up and I want to be the first person he will see also.

Unfortunately, the sun is coming up already but he still hasn’t woken up. The doctor said he was supposed to wake up this morning right?

My face was gloomy as I held Ryan’s hand in mine when all of a sudden, I felt his fingers move. My eyes instantly moved to his face and I saw him gradually open his eyes.

The joy I felt within me was unexplainable and I hugged him tight, not caring whether he was comfortable or not.

"I'm so glad you are awake. Are you feeling pains anywhere? Are you okay now? You are hungry right? You must be hungry, let me get you something to eat" I said and stood up but he held my hand, stopping me from leaving

"What's wrong?" I asked and sat down back

"I don't want anything. I don't want to eat and I don't want to know if I'm in pain or not, I only want to keep staring at your face. I can do that right?" Ryan asked

"Sure, you can. But you need to eat and the doctor also needs to do a checkup to see how you are doing. You can stare at my face as much as you want after that" I said

"No, I want to do it now" he said

"Fine, five minutes! I'm only going to sit here for five minutes" I said and took out my phone

I set the timer to five minutes and held his hands while smiling at him.

"Promise me something before you leave" he said

"What is it?" I asked

"Promise me that you won't put yourself in danger again. No matter what happens, you will always go anywhere with me and you will always tell me everything" he said

"I promise you. Even if you don't ask me to promise you, I don't have a choice. Helen is fighting for her life now and it's all because of me. She warned me but I didn't listen and if not for her, I would ha e lost my virginity to Justin" I explained

"How is she doing now?" Ryan asked

"The doctor said we are going to see how she is by the end of today. If she still doesn't wake up today, then it means she's dead or she had less than a few hours to live" I said

"Helen is a strong girl and I believe she will wake up strong. Just believe me and take your mind off it, we will go and see her together in the evening" Ryan said

"Alright. Five minutes is up already. I will call the doctor on my way now and get you something to eat. I will be back before you know it" I said

I kissed him lightly and left the ward with my phone.

"Don't let anyone except the doctor in" I warned the guards at the door strictly

Just like I told Ryan, I got the doctor for him and went to get something for us to eat. By the time I returned, the doctor was done with his checkup so I helped Ryan sit up and started feeding him. After I was done feeding him, I ate the remaining food and cleared the plates.

"Can you tell me all about Justin?" Ryan asked after lying down

"You just woke up so I don't want to tell you anything that will make you said right now. We can talk about Justin after you get well" I said

"But I really want to talk about it now" he pouted

"I said no already so don't try to talk me into telling you anything. The summary of it all is that he betrayed you. As for the details, you will hear it later" I said

"Fine then. If you won't tell me about Justin, you will at least kiss me right? I've really missed you" he said

"I missed you a lot too but this is a hospital. You are supposed to get well here, not shoot some romance movies" I said with an eye roll

"This isn't a movie. You are my girlfriend and I want you to kiss me, what is so wrong in that? Just kiss me already or I will call someone else to do it" he said

"Are you threatening me right now?" I scoffed

"T...threaten you? Who am I to do that?" he asked

"No problem. Now that you are awake, you don't love me anymore right? Or is it because Justin saw my naked body? But you didn't even know about that right?" I asked

"Justin saw your body?" Ryan asked

"Yes, he did. He kissed me too and fingered me. He was about going into the main deal when Helen interrupted him. She sacrificed herself to save my dignity" I said with tears rolling down my cheeks

"I'm sorry about that. I feel like everything that happened is my fault. If I had listened to you when you warned me about him, then this probably wouldn't have happened" Ryan said regretfully

"No, don't blame yourself. Everything is my fault. I told you to beware of Justin but I didn't tell you what he did. He tried to rape me in highschool once but I got lucky then. If I had told you, you would have known his true colors but I was scared that you won't believe me since he's your best friend" I said

"It's fine now, let's not blame ourselves. We learnt something from this so from now on, let us trust each other completely and let's not hide anything from each other" Ryan said

"Yes, let's do that" I smiled and hugged him tight
