Chapter 109: The Morning After

Chapter 109: The Morning After
Safyer was walking outta the bathroom at the same time that Aden walked in with Iza and a somewhat haggard Tarby. “Well, good morning sunshine,” she said loudly, making Tarby wince.

“I’m going to plead on behalf of my very large and very grumpy brother-in-law and King, don’t do this.” Tarby said, holding his head.

“Maybe he’s right,” Safyer said. “Zoltan, sweetheart, father of my pup,” she whispered.

“Awe, Sweetcheeks, please my head is killing me.”

“I’m sure it is,” she cooed, “that’s what happens when you drink too much wolf-shine.” She said.

“I promise, I will NEVER drink that shit again.” He wined.

She chuckled, “you know you won’t stick to that promise.” She kissed his cheek. “You need to get your big furry ass outta bed. If not, then I’m going to let Aden pour that big tub of ice-cold water all over you.” She whispered, pointing over at Aden and the tub he was holding.

“You wouldn’t let him do that to me, would you?” He whimpered.

“Oh yes, I would.” She smiled, “you’re the King, you’re drunk and hung over. It doesn’t matter what you did the night before, you need to show up on time, if not early. She reminded him.

He pulled his head out from under the pillows, “give me twenty minutes.” She narrowed her eyes at him. “Fine, if I’m not out in twenty minutes, you can send in your ice-cold assassin.” He chuckled.

“Good, I’ll be keeping track of time.” She warned him. “I love you.” She said and walked out of their room.

“You know you wanna stay in bed,” she heard Aden, “that nice comfy mattress and pillows calling your name, Zzzzzoooollllllttttaaannnn...” He taunted.

“Get the fuck outta my room.” She heard Zoltan growl at Aden.

Aden walked into the kitchen chuckling to himself. “I think he’s going to be on time.” He smiled.

“Thank you for your assistance.” Safyer snickered to herself.

Iza, Tarby, Aden and the twin mates were standing in the kitchen, “you better not be drinking Z’s coffee.” She glared at Tarby.

“Nope, but it’s ready for him.” Tarby said, “here’s your smoothie. Iza already put your vitamins and your other baby stuff in it.” He said, handing her a big cup with bananas, strawberries, cherries and other vegetables that she didn’t want to know about. As long as it tasted good, she’d drink it.

She looked at her watch, “ten minutes, Zol.” She called out.

“Yeah, almost done.” He called back.

“So, anything I need to know about or that needs my attention?” she asked.

“Yeah, there’s a few mate bond dissolution agreements that need your input.” Iza said. “There’s one in particular that needs your input.”

“They just need to reject each other. Why do they need my opinion?” Safyer asked with a frown.

“There’s pups involved and the male doesn’t want to pay support or abide by the mating contract.” Iza explained.

“So, they’re not fated mates?”

“Nope, arranged. Both agreed when they turned eighteen. They all knew what was involved and what the conditions of the contract were.”

“Let me guess, he found his fated mate?” Lacy asked.

“Aaaahhhhhhh...” Safyer jumped, putting her hand over her chest.

“What! What happened?” Zoltan yelled running in with just his pants and one sock on.

“Sorry, sorry.” Lacy bent down on one knee.

“Get up,” Kat laughed.

“I didn’t mean to scare you.” Lacy said, slowly standing up.

Zoltan pulled Safyer into his arms, held her tight and inhaled her scent. “I’m fine you, big ape,” she pushed him. “Stop being a possessive caveman. She didn’t do it on purpose and I wasn’t paying attention.”

“Your Majesty, please forgive me.” Lacy started, “I meant no harm. I didn’t realize her Grace would be scared.” She lowered her head.

“Lacy, you don’t...” Safyer started.

“Yes, I do. I should’ve made sure you knew I was in the room,” she said.

“It probably wouldn’t’ve mattered,” Safyer snickered.

“Lacy, you are one of our best up and coming warriors. You are well on your way to becoming your Queen’s best guard.” Zoltan said with a smile. “Just make sure to announce yourself before you emerge from the shadows so she can acknowledge you.” He said. Safyer rolled her eyes at her mate.

“Yes, your Majesty.” She bowed. He nodded then opened his arms; she smiled and walked into her big brother’s loving arms. “Thank you, Zol.” She whispered.

“No need to thank me.” He told her.

“Yeah, because like I said, it won’t matter. I probably would jump anyway.” She continued to snicker.

Zoltan shook his head at his mate. “So, what are you up to today, my Sweetcheeks?”

She growled lowly at him. She hated when he called her that, in front of others. She turned her head away from him, “oh, nothing... much. You?” she smiled.

“I’ll be training until around three,” he said, watching his mate closely. He put his face in his hands. “I’m never drinking wolf-shine again.” He said, grabbing his coffee mug.

“Okay, now if you’ll excuse me, I have a lot to do before dinner.” She said, kissing his cheek and walked out and headed to her office.

“She’s up to something; I can feel it.” Zoltan mumbled. “She’s going to be the death of me, either she or the pup she’s carrying is going to put me in the grave.” He drank down the rest of his coffee. “Let’s get going, we have a lot to do today.” Zoltan said as she finished his second cup of coffee.

Zoltan and his Alpha Unit made their way down to the training field. All of them still feeling a little hung over from the night before. “Fuck, remind me to never get drunk if we have training the next morning.” Austin grumbled.

“I did mention it,” Ollie started, “but you said you’d be okay. You could handle it all.” He said imitating Austin from the night before. He snickered at his step-son.

“Okay, okay, okay, yeah, we’re doing just fine.” Austin stood up straight.

“Yeah, no we’re not.” Rollins admitted, rubbing his temple.

“You know you’re males are idiots, right?” Safyer asked as she watched her brother’s struggle through training.

“They are all idiots,” Iza chuckled, “we all are mated to idiots.”

“Yeah, we know but we’ve always been told that the Goddess doesn’t make mistakes.” Violet said scrunching her nose.

“Sometimes we wonder...” Kat said.

“Wonder why the Goddess is one bat-shit crazy bitch?” Safyer chuckled.

“Ya know, one of these days she’s gonna strike us down for calling her all sorts of names.” Kat snickered.

“Nah, I think she’s been called worse, besides she has more important matter to deal with,” Lacy giggled.

“Well, we have work to do, let’s get to it.” Safyer clapped her hands.
