Chapter 88 Welcome Home, Daddy
ELIJAH
I don’t know if she was already awake before I kissed her or if she was woken up by the kiss itself, but right now, she was wide awake and she was staring at me with those beautiful eyes.
It was obvious that she had heard everything that I’d said and it made me happy because then I wouldn’t have to repeat it. Even if I had to, I wouldn’t mind because at least I’d be letting her know exactly how I felt.
I gave her a small smile and I was about to pull her up from the bed when she shook her head gently. She motioned to her other arm that was under Leo’s neck and she slowly removed it from him without disturbing his sleep.
As soon as she was on her feet, I pulled her in for a tight hug, breathing in her scent that I’d missed so much.
“I missed you so much.” She confessed against my chest.
“Me too. Me too.”
Looking at her now, I wanted to kiss her so badly but Leo moved slightly and I didn’t want us to wake him up so I grabbed her hand and took her back to her room quietly.
As soon as I closed the door behind us, I put her back against the door and made a move to kiss her but she stopped me with her hand.
“Morning breath.”
I was about to ask her if she thought I brushed my teeth in the forest but that would lead to questions so I just laughed.
“Don’t worry. I don’t care.”
She stopped me again so I removed her hand and held both of them beside her head against the door.
“If you stop me again, I’ll carry you to the bed and trust me when I say that I won’t stop kissing you.”
She slowly nodded and let me do my thing.
I’d missed her lips so much that I didn’t waste time in claiming them. If I ever lost her for any reason, I would have myself to blame.
“I’m really sorry for what I did. I didn’t mean to react that way. I’m still new to all these things. I would never raise my voice at you like that again.”
I actually never would. I wasn’t that type of man.
She laughed softly and waved it off.
“That’s okay. I don’t hold it against you, okay? I just missed you and I was a bit hurt that you didn’t tell me where you went.”
“About that, I just couldn’t look you in the eye and tell you anything. I mean, how could I when I just screamed at you? I was really embarrassed about my behavior.”
Opening up about my feelings like this made me feel so warm and tingly inside. Being around her made me feel warm. She was an angel. My angel. And I was going to keep her for as long as I could.
I mean, the witches had said I should marry her so why not? There was just one tiny problem. She didn’t know that we were mates yet so she might not buy into the idea of marrying me so soon.
She placed her arms around my neck.
“As I said, I don’t hold it against you. Hazel and Aiden were hoarding it like it was some big secret. Where did you go?”
They were hiding it because I’d told them not to tell her no matter what she says, except she puts a knife to her neck.
She didn’t need to know anything about that, that’s why. Everything that’s happening right now, I didn’t want to add that to her plate.
They already knew about her but she didn’t know about them and I would like to keep things that way for now.
“That’s because it was confidential business. They’re not obligated to tell anyone anything that has to do with it.”
I prayed that she wouldn’t push it any further and thankfully she didn’t.
“Did you really mean what you said?”
I thought about what she was asking. I’d said a lot of things today.
“Specify… which one?”
I actually had said a lot of things just this morning alone.
“You said you loved me, did you really mean it?”
I pulled her toward the bed and placed her on my lap gently.
“Out of everything I’ve said today, I didn’t mean anything more. I love you, Adriana and I always will.”
“I love you, Elijah. Maybe even more than you do.”
I laughed.
“I want to be serious with you, Adriana. I want us to make things work, I mean. You’re still single right?” I asked, referring to that Luke guy.
“Of course, did you really think I’d start going out with him all of a sudden? I haven’t even seen him since the day you went all angry on him. The poor boy is probably scared for his life. I mean, did you see your face that day? I was so scared.”
“Oh please no, I feel so embarrassed.” I tried to hide my face. She just laughed.
“Why would you? Seeing you all jealous and angry was kind of hot.”
I rolled my eyes and we kissed again, only pulling apart when the door suddenly opened. Leo ran in and Adriana immediately stood up for him to be able to sit with me.
“Hey my man. How did you know I was back?”
He pointed to his chest proudly.
“I felt you here.”
“You felt me in your heart? You’re so corny. Did you miss me, because I sure missed you. You look like you had a lot of ice cream while I was away, well the ice cream guard is back now and I say no more ice cream.”
“Why didn’t you wait for me?” He signed with sad eyes.
“Well, that place wasn’t a place for kids to come. I needed to go without distractions and if you were there, we’d play all day and I wouldn’t be able to get any work done, that’s why. I hope you didn’t give Adriana a headache.”
He looked at her and the way he was staring at her made me know that something was going on between them.
She was talking but I couldn’t hear what she was saying because I was focused on his expression.
“What is it? Why’s he looking at you like that?”
Before she could respond, he pulled my ear down gently and whispered.
“Welcome home, daddy.”
My heart stopped. Did he just…?
