Chapter 28 Chapter 28
Chapter 28
\- Jason -
I was in my study when the guards announced Aria was here to see me and I told them she could come in
I was upset with her carelessness yesterday but not so much again
She walked in with a tray of food and said she had prepared my favourite meal
I was amused, but I did not show it on my face. She waited, wanting to get my impression of her food
Even though I was still busy and did not want to eat, I decided to taste it so she'd be happy
But when I opened the food, the smell hit me immediately and nausea rose to my chest
I quickly stood up and pushed the food away. I was allergic to the meal because just the smell made me terribly ill
"Guards! Guards!!" I called out as Aria kept asking me what was wrong.
One of the guards came rushing in
"Get a maid to take this away," I ordered and he bowed before walking out
"Alpha, I prepared this food myself. Do you not like it?" She asked, peering into my face
"No I don't, Aria," I replied unsmiling. "I am allergic to everything on this plate. This is poison to me and can kill me."
"Oh my goodness..." She muttered, covering her mouth with her hands. "I am so sorry. I am so sorry."
All I wanted was for the food to be taken away and I waited impatiently for the maid to come get it.
She eventually did, and that was when I was able to get myself. But the smell still lingered faintly.
I moved to the window to get some fresh air and Aria followed me
"Alpha I am so sorry. I did not do this intentionally. I felt so bad for what I did yesterday, so I thought I should come apologise to you with the food I cooked, thinking it was your favourite. I didn't know you were allergic to it. I am so sorry. Please forgive me," she said tearfully, and I believed it was a sincere mistake. I looked at her
"Everyone in the palace knows I don't eat this," I told her. "You should have asked around before going ahead to make the food."
"I di..." She started and paused. "It was all my fault Alpha. I should have known better. I am sorry."
I sighed
"I knew you would have some difficulties knowing how things work around here, since this is not your pack, and that was why I asked Natasha to help you around. You don't have to try to figure out everything yourself. I know you are Luna but you need help right now."
While I spoke she sobbed silently and I pulled her in
"Listen, I am not mad at you. Just try to do things differently from now on and we'll be fine, okay?"
She nodded.

I returned to my room feeling dejected. How could Natasha not know that Alpha Jason was allergic to the food she had made me cook for him?
There was no way she did not know
He had mentioned everyone in the palace knew, and she was the closest to him
Did she intentionally make me do that to get into trouble with him?
I couldn't even tell him she was the one who told me that was his favourite meal
I couldn't bring myself to because he might not believe me and I didn't want to get into any more trouble
I sat down on the edge of my bed quietly and not long after, a knock came on the door and Natasha slowly opened it
"Can I come in?" She asked quietly but I did not answer. She walked in anyway
"I heard what happened. The breakfast did not go well. I am so sorry about that," she said, not looking sorry at all
"Sorry?" I shook my head at her. "Natasha, I am sure you must have known Alpha Jason is allergic to that meal yet you told me it was his favourite and even assisted me to prepare it."
Her face fell into a frown
"Are you accusing me now after I helped you?" She placed a finger on her chest
"You were the one who told me to cook it yet he was allergic to it," I pointed out but my tone was down as I was careful not to annoy her
"Yes I did," she admitted. "And that's because when the Alpha's first mate cooked this same meal for him, he praised her and ate everything without complaints. If he was really allergic to it, why did he eat it? The maids don't serve him that I know, but if his Luna does, he doesn't mind because he loves her."
Tears gathered in my eyes
"Me and the alpha don't have that kind of relationship and you know it," I said. "It was not nice to make me do that."
"Listen Aria, I am so sorry this turned out this way. I promise you I was only trying to help you build a relationship with the alpha. I don't mean any harm."
She walked closer and touched me on the shoulder
"Did you tell him I was the one who told you to make that?" She asked and I looked at her, wondering what kind of person she was
"You were the one who told me to," I said to her face and she sighed wearily
"But surely you wouldn't tell him that, did you? You are the Luna, he wouldn't do anything much about it. But I could get in trouble for that you know."
I looked away
"No," I said. "I did not mention your name."
"You are so kind Aria," she smiled, taking her hands off. "Once again I am so sorry about the meal thing. I will make sure it doesn't happen again. Do you forgive me?"
I did not know what to say to her
"Aria, do you forgive me?" She pushed
"I don't hold anything against you," I told her
"Thank you so much."
When she walked out I watched the door close behind her with a heavy and untrusting heart.
