Chapter 231 – His Soul
Chapter 231 – His Soul
Liora
The fog has gone.
But not inside me.
Everywhere I walk, Silvermoon feels alive again but my heart felt heavy. Like grief has tied veins of my heart.
The air was warm but I was cold. Pale.
“Snowfall…” I called my wolf
I’m here, she replies inside me, her voice soft, trembling. But everything feels wrong without him.
I close my eyes. I know.
It’s been days since Lucian’s took his final breath. Since I was alone. Cold. It used to ve warm with him.
Now, all that’s left of him is gone.
Eira said his soul has joined the stars, watching over Silvermoon. But every time I look up, it only hurts. Because I feel as he was staring at me.
But he's not with me… gone.
I search the library again, my searching for old books. That held my answer. A way to bring him back.
I’ve spent every night here, reading about rebirth, moon bonds, and lost souls.
Histories of wolves who found their mates again after death, of magic older than the stars. Something thst can bring him back.
But each word feels like a prayer I cannot finish... half hope, half heartbreak.
I fall asleep on the floor sometimes. No one to take me back after I slept.
I dream of standing in a moon garden with him together but when I wake up he's gone. I hope he’s still here.
But the other side of the bed is always cold.
Making it sad to sleep on the bed.
....
A soft knock pulls me from my thoughts.
“Liora?”
It was Keal’s voice gentle and, calm, he always talk carefully, as if he was afraid I’ll shatter.
I wipe my face and open the door.
He stands there with Lily beside him, both holding tray of food. Even the sight make me nausea. I had no appetite.
“You need to eat,” Lily uttered walking in a tray in her hand. “You’ve barely had anything since…” She doesn’t finish the sentence. None of us do.
I look down at the tray, then at them. Their eyes are soft, but there's guilt to. Keal hides it better than most. Lucian saved him, saved us.
“I’m not hungry,” I whisper.
“Liora...”
“I said I’m fine.”
My voice cracks. Lying to myself.
Keal steps closer, his jaw tight. “He wouldn’t want you to fade away like this. Lucian made his choice. For you. For us.”
I shake my head. “He shouldn’t have had to.” I whispered.
The silence that followed was heavy.
Snowfall growls softly inside me, He’s right, you know. But the truth still hurts.
I swallow, my throat tight. Everything hurts, Snow. Even breathing.
Keal sets the tray on the table and turns to leave. Before he goes, he looks back once more. “I think its high time we buried Mother. I'll announce her funeral date tomorrow. You should attend. She need you there.”
I nod weakly. My heart feels like it’s breaking all over again.
....
The next day, the pack elders gathers the hall.
I sat there without saying a word.
After the council meeting ends. Keal started speaking.
"Since we found mother's body and ger real killer found. Its time we set her at ease. We'll buried her next full moon."
“Thats great idea. Elara deserves peace. She was brave,” an old elder uttered quietly beside me.
I nod, my eyes wet. “She’s died an unexpected death. Murdered. But we avenge her. Its time for her to rest.”
“After Mother we'll burry the ones we've lost too. And set memorial for them. Kai, Derek. Lucian.
His name made my world stop.
No they cant burry him.
He would wake up.
I held the silver pendant tight, the very one Lucian gave me. “It’s not fair, He isn't dead yet.” I whisper. “It’s not his sin. He was just part of his father’s curse. So it isn't fair for him to pay the price, right?”
No one answers. Only faint whispers among themselves.
Snowfall’s answered, Because curses always demands a price, Liora. And he chose to be the price.
Tears slide down,I stood leaving the hall saying “I hate this,” I whisper. “I hate that I can’t even hate him.”
You could never hate him, Snowfall murmurs softly. He was your twin moon.
My chest tightens. And now I have no mate left.
You still have me.
I close my eyes. “It’s not the same.”
....
That night, I wander alone through Silvermoon’s recovering lands. The fog is gone, replaced by clear sky and the hum of crickets.
The world seemed new, like new beginnings. But my heart feels trapped to him.
I pass by the lake waterfall, the one where Lucian once confessed his truth, his pain, his love. The surface glows under the moon, still and silver. I kneel by the edge, my reflection blurring with his in my mind.
“Lucian…” My whisper trembles. “You kept your promise. I’ll keep mine. I’ll find a way to bring you back. Somehow.”
The wind blew gently, brushing my hair across my face.
I rememberedhis presence and, I swear I feel it warmth of his hand brushing mine.
“Lucian?” I called.
Then, softly, like a sigh carried through the night...
“Liora…”
The sound freezes me. My pulse races. The voice is faint, distant, but it’s his.
I press a hand to my chest, tears spilling freely now. “Lucian…? Is that you?”
My knees buckle, and I fall to the grass, sobbing quietly. “Please… please come back.”
Snowfall stirs inside me, her tone trembling, It’s him. I feel it too.
“Then why can’t I reach him?”
Because he’s between worlds, she murmurs. And you’re still here. His soul is still here.
I lift my face toward the Moon smiling, hoping to fund a way to bring him back.
“Lucian…” I whisper again. “If you’re still out there… I’ll find you.”
But only the night howl answred.
Lucian was stands before me — the same silver eyes, the same half-smile that used to melt every wall I built. But this time, there’s light behind him — soft, endless light.
“Don’t cry for me, Liora,” he says. His voice is warm, steady, real. “Our bond isn’t broken… it’s only waiting.”
My lips tremble. “Waiting for what?”
“For when you’re ready to let me go.”
He lifts his hand, brushing a strand of hair from my face, just like he always did. I lean into his touch — but before I can feel him fully, he fades, turning into moonlight.
“I can bring you back Lucian!” I call out, reaching for him. “So don’t go!”
His last words echo, faint as a breath — “Find me in the light.”
\---
I jolt awake, gasping, tears clinging to my lashes. My heart races like thunder in my chest. It was a dream?
It feels so real.
Then ...
The door bursts open.
“Liora!” Aurelie rushes in, breathless, her eyes wide with something between shock and joy. “You need to come ... now!”
I blink, confused. “What happened?”
“It’s father,” she says, grabbing my hand. “Alpha Blayze… has waken up from coma.”
My heart stutters.
For a moment, I think I’m still dreaming.
But then I see the tears in Aurelie’s eyes... real, bright, trembling and I know it’s true.
I jolted up, my hands shaking. The pain in my chest was still there, but for the first time in days, something else was there ... hope.
I run through the corridors... wanting to meet father.
“Lucian… if you can hear me… thank you for liftingthe curse and bring father back. And stay strong you would be coming back soon since I know you're here with me.”
Because I find hope now that father has wake up.
And knowing his soul is still here.
