Chapter 230 – Last Moments

Chapter 230 – Last Moments

Liora

My heart stopped for a second and so as the world stopped. .

I stare at Lucian’s body that was laying on the ground. Motionless, his silver eyes staring at the moon.

Even the warmth I feel from him bled away slowly, leaving me with the cold body. My fingers were shaking.

I brushed his hair from his forehead, calling his name. Hoping he'll wake up.

Hoping this is all a nightmare. And it'll soon come to an end.

“Lucian…” my throat was dry. “Please, come back to me."

But no response. "No... no...not like this. You cNt leave me like this” I yelled hitting his chest.

Hoping the pain would make him wake up.

I could still feel the curse lingering in the air but it's fading with every second.

My chest hurt so badly knowing he sacrifice himself for us. Its making it hard to breathe.

Snowfall, whimpered. He’s gone… he’s really gone. She sobbed.

No, I whispered to her in my mind, clutching his hand tighter. He can’t be. He promised he’d stay with me. He would protect me. He's my mate.

He did, Snowfall murmured sadly. He kept his promise. She added.

I bit my lip until I tasted blood. I let my tears slide falling on his face. “You stupid, selfless fool…” I whispered. “It wasn’t your sin to carry. Who said you can die for me?”

I wish there's anything I can do to bring him back.

It's not his sin... his just part of his father's sins.

So why does he have to pay for Marcus's crimes....

The tear kept coming even though he killed my mate. Derek.

He is also my twin moon mate.

H3 can't leave me too.

Now, I don't have a mate... it felf hollow... so empty.

So sad.

The air start to change.

Now that the curse is lifted. The black mist faded, replaced by the soft scent of pine and snow. A faint breeze swirled playing with my hair. The moon was white it glowed brighter, washing every red spot.

Bit .. deep down I felt empty.

“Liora,” a voice called. I turned and see it was Keal.

He waked up. His skin that was covered with black veins is now cured. He was pale, shaken, but alive. “He did it. He saved us.”

I looked at him, sadly. Tears falling. “He shouldn’t have,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “You were never meant to die. None of us were. The only one wbo gas to die was Marcus... so... why... why would he.. why did he have to...”

Keal moved closer. “He said he was making things right.”

Aurelie was kneel behind him, tears sliding on her cheeks, she clutch her chest. “He gave us his light,” she whispered softly. “His life. And took our curse.”

I swallowed hard, my throat was burning.. “He killed my mate,” I mumbled, my voice barely audible. “He did bad things ...But…” I choked on the next words. “But Marcus made him do it. He is my real twin moon mate and losing him ... I’ve lost a part of my soul.”

Snowfall nuzzled. Because he was truely your twin moon mate.

I buried my face in his chest. I could still feel the faint pull of our bond, dying.

“You said you’d find a way to protect me, to save us,” I whispered, staring at his still face. “And you did. You always do.”

Pressing my forehead against his. Breathing heavily, his warmth, his heartbeat, his scent that ones calm me.

But there was none.

....

Days passed after Lucian death. I was left a shell of a broken self.

But Silvermoon was healing... slowly. Pack members returned to their homes, light can be seen in their windows, some whispers his name as a hero but some curse him for what he did.

Lucian became a story before I was ready to let him go.

Keal suggested his funeral preparations to start soon. I didn’t like the idea. But I had to...

With each passing I pray to the goddess to revive him.

But nothing...

Eira walked and stood beside me, her face calm but sad. “The moon accepted his light,” she uttered, her hands tracing his hand where the curse were. “He watch over Silvermoon now. Still protecting you.”

Tear slide from my already swollen eyes. “I never want him to watch over me. I want him to be here with me. He have to be alive, not dead.”

Eira placed her hand on my shoulder. “Sometimes the ones who shine brightest don’t get to stay long.”

I wanted to scream that I didn’t care.

Buy I couldn’t find my voice.

I wanted him here... warming me.

I needed him alive, breathing.

I wanted to hear his voice again, teasing me, scolding me, anything but this silence.

"Let him rest before his burial." She said. And we laid him to rest in the mutuary. I rubbed his cold hand with my thumb. “You kept your promise,” I whispered. “I’ll keep mine too.”

Behind me, Keal spoke, his voice low. “He would forever be remembered because saved us all. Without him we won't be alive.”

Aurelie nodded, tears streaming freely. “He found redemption, Liora. Maybe that’s what he wanted all along.”

I didn’t answer. My heart was breaking all over again.

The air felt colder, I stared at the moon... it pulsing brighter, the moon goddess is seeing.

And then I saw a silver light spreading over his chest, right where his mark used to be. It pulsed once… twice… and then faded into the sky, leaving behind a streak of silver light across the moon.

My breath caught. “Lucian… dont go...”

Snowfall’s voice whispered. He’s part of the moon now. Watching. Protecting.

The thought that should comfort me broken me instead.

I leaned closer, pressing a kiss to his cold forehead. “I’ll find a way,” I whispered shakily. “You don’t deserve to die now. Not when you’ve finally found who you are.”

The night air was still. And then, deep in the woods a single wolf howled ... long and low. It wasn’t a cry of grief. It was peace.

The others joined, their howls were heard all over Silvermoon. I tilted my head up, tears spilling down my cheeks, and whispered into the sky, “Come back… for both of us.”

....

It’s weeks after. The pack is alive again. The smell of roasted corn and children playing.

Warriors are rebuilding the walls. Children laugh in the pack yard. The curse is completely gone.

But inside me, everything still feels fresh.

Every night, I stand by the balcony where Lucian once stood. The staring at the moon. And praying to the goddess.

Tonight, when it stood there. Itl felt warm instead of cold. Almost like someone was here with me.

Snowfall sighs softly. He’s always with you still.

I close my eyes, breathing in deeply. “Then I’ll never stop looking,” I whisper. “Not until I find a way to bring him back.”

Above, the moon shimmers again...brighter this time.

Like he answered. And for a moment, I swear I feel his heartbeat beating faintly against mine.

“Stay strong Lucian.” I whisper. "We'll be together again."

I promise to bring you back.
