CHAPTER 16. ENEMIES IN THE PAST
"I still can't believe you found my place," Sandra murmured, her soft voice carried by the wind that filled the minimalist dining room, while Diego sat across from her, their eyes interlocked like two inseparable magnets.
"That's not a difficult thing for me, a prince ...." Sandra quickly whispered words to silence Diego's mouth who openly wanted to reveal his true identity.
"Yes, I understand," Diego replied nonchalantly, but his eyes and demeanor hinted at a deep understanding of the risks.
Sandra continued to observe Diego, pondering in her mind how to capitalize on the man's strengths, planning a sizable reward. She was sure Diego was not just any opponent, but the equal of a predator who was after her life. A happy smile spread across her face, which had been gloomy the past few days like the sun rising after a night.
"Do you like the food? You can enjoy it as much as you want every day," Sandra said with kindness, presenting Diego with an option that was hard to refuse.
"Yes, the food you served was delicious. Maybe because I've been locked up in that cursed place for a long time." The man stated while returning to enjoying the grilled meat that was still on a plate, but his gaze stopped for a moment when he saw Sandra's face which seemed to hold a secret.
"Something's not right," Diego said stopping his eating, then turned to glance at Sandra closely. "Your words just now sounded like a bribe. Tell me quickly! What are you planning to do?"
Sandra scratched the back of her neck while chuckling, the woman's eyeballs moved wildly left and right, looking for the right sentence to express her hidden intentions. She gently rubbed her white face with both palms, along with a long sigh, before finally starting the conversation.
"I'm not in a good enough state," Sandra said with a glum face while letting the door to the story begin to open wide, inviting Diego's curiosity to reveal more information. However, just as the story was beginning, a loud noise was heard from outside the apartment.
Suddenly they both got up from their seats. Diego had a wary look on his face, while Sandra was rooted to the spot with a trembling body. then, from the direction of the kitchen, the maid ran a little closer to her employer. "Auntie, I'm scared," said Sandra.
"What is that sound, Miss? It was quite loud from behind the door of this apartment," said the maid.
"I don't know." Then, Sandra remembered the bodyguards her father had hired, the men were standing guard outside the apartment door. If it was true that the werewolf had attacked again, then the lives of the bodyguards were in danger.
Meanwhile, strange noises and rumblings from outside the apartment add to the tension. Sandra felt a mysterious aura surrounding her, making her even more convinced that this situation was more complex than it seemed.
"Oh my God! There's blood!" The maid looked shocked while pointing to the floor that had been inundated with fresh blood, which came from under the crack in the apartment door. Suddenly Sandra's tears flooded her beautiful face, due to frustration.
"Should I just call the police? Where's my cell phone?" Sandra who panicked, paced back and forth looking for her cell phone.
"No need to call that thing called the police! I'll deal with that damn demon! Should you guys stay out of this room?" Diego pleaded.
Before Sandra and her servant had time to leave, suddenly the apartment door was broken down by a swarm of butterfly demons, looking scary because they had pitch-black wings, anyone who touched them could be seriously injured.
"Hurry up and hide! These butterflies were sent by someone." Sandra and her servant immediately hid in the room, they locked the doors and windows tightly to prevent the black butterfly from entering the room.
Meanwhile, outside, Diego was struggling to defeat the butterfly demon. He was cut several times by the creature known for the beautiful color of its wings. However, this time the animal was both dangerous and terrifying.
"Damn! They've been influenced by a powerful evil force. Who's done this heinous thing?" Diego muttered as he continued to think about stopping the butterfly's stealth attack. For now, Diego didn't want to kill the butterflies, so he just dodged them without counterattacking. Given that the butterflies were in control.
"You coward!" Diego shouted. "You can only take advantage of weaklings like them. If you're really good, show yourself, loser!" Not long after, the butterflies left Sandra's apartment, replaced by werewolves.
"There goes the loser," Diego said in a mocking tone.
"I didn't expect to meet a cowardly werewolf like you. How embarrassing!" Diego continued to chatter, while his opponent looked on.
"Did I recognize you wrong? You're Diego, right? The werewolf prince of the Eastern clan." Instantly silent, Diego narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Who are you? How do you know about me?" Suddenly the demon laughed loudly in Diego's face.
"Oh my! I didn't expect to see you again, after that incident." Diego became more and more curious about the demon, while inwardly guessing.
"Maybe this way you can get to know me better." Slowly, the form of the monstrous demon disappeared, replaced by a handsome man who froze Diego in place. Diego's face turned red with both hands clenched tightly.
"Do you still not recognize me?" the demon asked.
"Of course, I don't forget your face, Zain. The cursed demon who made my life and that of my family miserable" said Diego, who could no longer contain his rage. He wanted to tear every inch of Zain's body apart so that he could avenge his past vengeance.
"I thought you were still locked up on the ban island. I'm sorry I couldn't give you a welcome gift," said Zain, who looked very relaxed without any burden or guilt.
"Looks like I can get my revenge today." Diego attacked first and the battle began.
