Chapter 92 Don’t Push.
Lily’s pov.
I scream out in pain as another contraction rips through my body.
I’m laying down on my back, legs up as my grandmother checks my cervix again.
“You’re nine centimetres dilated!” She says nervously, “I don’t think I can do the c section. If you continue to progress this rapidly they’ll come naturally.”
I grit my teeth, pushing through the pain.
“Isn’t that dangerous?” I mutter, “for the babies?”
She sighs while grabbing my hand, “it’s extremely dangerous… but I’ll do whatever I can to make sure you and the babies are safe.”
Tears make their way out of my eyes, this day not going how I wanted it too.
I grip my grandmother's hand tightly, looking into her eyes with silent acknowledgment.
She sighs while patting my hand gently, “very well,” she says, “prepare for their arrival… they should be born shortly.”
Raya places a hand on my forehead, wincing from how hot I am.
“Goddess, Lily! You’re really burning up!” She shrieks while placing a cold cloth onto my head.
It helps slightly, for only a moment before another contraction hits.
I grip the bed hard, clenching my teeth, trying to fight for my life.
The worse one yet, tearing into my very soul.
Tears fall out of my eyes rapidly, nothing I do can stop them.
I wish my mother was here so badly.. to hold me… to whisper soothing words.
I cry harder at the memories of her, every one hitting me like a punch to the gut.
Her gentle voice.
Her gentle smile.
Her encouraging words.
All of it.. playing on repeat in my mind.
“Lily, breath,” I hear Eric say somewhere in the back of my mind.
I try to blink away the tears, to look at him but I can’t.
The tears keep falling, my vision stays clouded.
“Breathe!” He yells this time, shaking my shoulders slightly as if that would break me out of this agony.
I try to do what he says, to breathe but it feels like my lungs are deflated, no longer able to hold air.
“Her stomach!” I hear Raya gasp from beside me, “it’s- it’s getting bigger!”
I try to feel my belly, to see if what she said is true, if my belly is growing larger.
As soon as my hand makes contact a powerful kick has me ready to throw up.
I grip the bed again, holding it in with all my might, refusing to belch all over myself.
I finally manage to suck some air into my lungs and open my eyes.
The tears have finally stopped falling and my vision is no longer clouded.
I look towards Eric, then at Raya, and my grandmother last.
They all have wide eyes. Shocked looks on their faces as if something weird is going on.
“What?” I mumble, still trying to catch my breath.
My grandmother clears her throat, walking towards me with cautious steps.
“Lily…” she whispers, looking directly at my belly, “look down.”
I squint my eyes at her and slowly look down.
Gasping in shock as I see my belly.
It’s humongous.
Stretch marks and angry blue and purple veins pop out.
I wince as I try to shift my body, feeling as if it’s impossible.
“Don’t move!” My grandmother says suddenly, grabbing my arm and laying me back down.
“What’s… happening to me,” I whisper quietly, unable to take my eyes away from my belly.
My grandmother doesn’t answer me at first, giving me an awkward smile as she places her hand slowly into my belly.
“Oh my goddess…” she mumbles while stepping away from me quickly.
“What!” I yell as loudly as I can, not having enough strength to actually yell loud enough.
She grimaced and looked away from me, “your son… is still putting the others in distress… and he’s a lot bigger now. I don’t think we have the time to wait- they… need to come out, now.”
“No!” I gasp, “if- if there’s a way I can have them naturally then I want to.”
“Lily… you know what kind of risk you’re all in,” she says while looking into my eyes, “I don’t think we have the time to talk about this. Think about the babies.”
She turns around and walks away, gathering her scalpels and tools she conjured for the c section.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath, feeling Sapphire bristling just under the surface of my mind.
“If they don’t come… naturally… within twenty minutes, I will agree to do the c section,” I get out between breaths, another contraction ripping through me.
My grandmother turns around with a sad look on her face, nodding her head slightly with disappointment, “very well.”
She said before walking towards the door, “watch her… I will be back in twenty minutes.”
Raya gasps while looking between Eric and I.
“She… left?” Raya whispers, “she doesn’t think they’ll be born naturally?”
“No,” Eric reply’s, “she doesn’t.”
I sigh while wrapping my arms around myself, second guessing if I am doing the right thing…
“I have a good feeling, you know?” Eric says softly, patting my back with his hand, “your body and babies know what to do. Don’t worry, they’ll be here any minute now.”
“Yes, I have a good feeling too!” Raya adds in, “you’ll be fine and they’ll be perfect.”
I look over at her and manage a small smile, grateful that she’s here.
“Thank you-" I tried to say when an unimaginable pain shot through my butt, as if a weight was pressed onto my colon.
“What the hell!” I shriek loudly, absolutely petrified.
“What is happening!”
I gasp as I try to get the pain to stop, but it won’t.
My body starts to push on its own, desperately trying to get these babies out of me.
“Oh goddess!” I scream out in pain, “the baby is coming! My body is pushing! I can’t stop it!”
“Don’t push!” Raya and Eric yell simultaneously, looking at me nervously.
“Don’t push!?” I growl out in anger, wanting to rip someone’s face off.
“I see its head!” Raya shouts, pointing directly at my vagina.
