Chapter 93 Erlik.
Creed’s pov.
Midnight gasps from somewhere behind me, making me turn my head in her direction.
“What! Who is that?” I yell over the screams of terror.
“No,” she whispers so quietly I almost didn’t hear her, “it can’t be.”
“Midnight!” I yell again, “who is that I said!”
“It’s- it’s general Erlik. He’s supposed to be dead, gone…” she says, staring directly at him.
“Clearly he’s not,” I grumble, getting ready for a tough battle.
“Erlik!” Midnight screams, her voice echoing across the field.
His head whips in our direction, a wicked smile taking over his face at the sight of us.
“Midnight!” He yells out, running towards us faster than should be possible.
His one arm marred with angry red skin that looks as if it’s been burned off, his battle axe gripped tightly, the steel glowing softly.
I look behind him as he’s running towards us and see ten more demons coming through the portal he just came through.
They look around, assessing the battlefield.
Something about them is different, they seem in control.
Erlik gets closer towards us, his wicked grin still on his face.
I prepare myself, getting ready for whatever he throws at us.
He looks like a tough guy to fight, massive horns stick out of the top of his head adding to his dark aura. While he stood over a foot taller than me, the biggest person I’ve ever fought.
“Erlik! How are you here, how are you alive?” Midnight shouts confused, Erlik slowing down slightly as he nears us.
“Oh, Midnight… so naive… so innocent,” he says in a deep voice, “look at you! Queen? I don’t think you deserve that title.”
I look over at Midnight, seeing how her eyebrows draw together in confusion.
“What are you talking about! What is this!? Aren’t you here to help us? Help me?” She yells, anger quickly taking over her face.
“Help you?” He laughs loudly, his muscles flexing with every movement, “no, I’m here to kill you.”
As soon as he said that, hundreds of demons started to close in on us.
I look over, searching for Jason and Ryan.
They’ve already made their way behind us, ready to take on these brainwashed souls.
“Why?” Midnight growls, her body already morphing into her shadows, “why would you betray me!”
Erlik laughs darker this time, something flashing in his eyes.
“Betray… you?” He says with a pause in between, “I think it’s the other way around. Hades betrayed me first, along with you! He cursed me, locking me up in a cage, powerless… basically dead!”
He screams it with such venom, such hatred…
As if he’s already convinced himself long ago that Midnight is the enemy.
“It’s not true. He told me you were dead, gone. That you’d never come to the underworld again!” She shouts back, fully transformed now.
“It doesn’t matter now. You will die… and I will become king,” he says darkly, laughing at the anger on Midnight's face.
“You traitor!” She screams, her anger consuming her.
“Midnight!” I yell at her, getting her attention, “take on the demons, you can take more on at once then I can, I’ll take the general.”
He laughs again as he turns his head to look at me, “you think you can take me on? I don’t need this to fight you, Creed.”
He tosses his battle axe onto the ground, rolling his shoulders as he comes at me.
I steady myself as he throws his right hand towards me fast.
I go to dodge it but instead throw myself right into his left hand.
I feel my jaw break from the impact, my head turning to the side from the power he put behind it.
I feel Erlik grab me by the throat, lifting me into the air.
“You’re so pathetic!” He yells as he slams me into the ground.
The air leaves my lungs as I hit the ground.
I look up and see his foot about to stomp on my head.
I roll out of the way just in time to see his foot hit the ground.
His foot lands on a pile of rocks, shattering them into a million pieces while the ground around him shakes.
Midnights pov.
“Jason!” I say loud enough my mate can hear me.
His eyes fart in my direction as he continues fighting off the controlled demons.
“I need to go to the underworld, I need my sword!” I say, grabbing three demons with my tendrils at once and snapping their heads off.
Without waiting for a response I open up my portal and run through.
I enter the castle in the underworld, running towards the throne where my sword sits.
I pick it up feeling its weight in my hands.
The sword shimmering slightly in my presence.
I quickly make a portal back to the battlefield, jumping through, landing directly in front of Creed and Erlik.
Erlik’s back is turned towards me while he has Creed in the air by his throat.
He’s reaching for an underworld dagger as Creed fights to get air in his lungs.
Without thinking I ran towards them with my sword raised.
Just as Erlik brings his blade up, I swing my sword down, cutting across his arm.
Erlik drops Creed onto the ground as he turns around to face me.
He glances at his arm quickly, a small look of surprise taking over his face.
“I haven’t seen my blood in centuries,” he says darkly, walking towards his battle axe that’s laying on the ground not too far from him.
“Now this,” he says while picking it up, “will be fun. Do you even know how long I’ve been waiting for this?”
I grip my sword tighter, holding it towards him, ready for anything.
“I was supposed to be the king, not Hades!” He yells angrily, walking closer towards me, “you do realize what that means, right?”
I swallow the lump in my throat, a million things racing through my mind before it hits me.
“No,” I say, not willing to believe it.
“Oh, yes,” he replies with a wicked grin, looking around at the death and destruction, “I am your father.”
