Chapter 81 The Goddess.
Alex’s pov.
“That went well, right?” Beatrice says while chuckling, closing the door behind her as Lily leaves.
I smile while nodding my head, “she’s… actually really important to me. I’m glad you guys get along… after my mother died- something also died inside of me. When Creed found Lily, it was like something clicked back into place.”
Bea gives me a soft smile, wrapping me up in a hug.
I sigh happily, placing my head on her shoulder and inhaling her scent.
I still can’t believe we’re here, together.
“I’m so glad you have people that make you feel that way,” she whispers into my ear, making a grin split out onto my face.
“I’m glad too…” I whisper back, snuggling even closer to her.
She lifts my face to look at her, she leans in, about to kiss me when I hear shouting down the hall. Creed shouting.
I pull away suddenly, straining my ears to hear what’s going on.
I may have never gotten a dragon counterpart but I still have advanced senses.
“What’s wrong?” She asks with a frown, obviously wondering why I pulled away from her.
“I’m sorry, I’ll be right back, give me a few minutes,” I mumble, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.
Without waiting for a response I head towards the noise, leading me to Creed's room.
As I get outside I hear Creed speaking angrily, “My mate is pregnant, heavily pregnant with our four fledglings. She doesn’t need this kind of stress. I think you should leave.”
I walk into the open door and see my father about to leave with his head down, “what’s going on?” I ask in a small voice, not liking the vibes in here.
“Alex,” Creed says, his voice breaking, “please, come here.”
I take slow, cautious steps towards him, my eyebrows up in confusion, just wanting to know what is going on right now, why is our father here?
“Creed,” I hissed as he grabbed me and wrapped me up in the biggest hug he’s ever given me, “I asked what’s going on! Why are you hugging me this way?”
He’s not usually like this, I’m starting to get extremely concerned now.
“I’m so, so sorry, Alex,” he whispers, tears rolling down his face.
“Creed!” I snapped angrily, slapping his shoulder, feeling frustrated now, “please, what happened?”
“He can tell you,” Creed motions towards our father, letting go of me.
“I’m sorry, Alex. I kept a secret from you, from everyone. It’s hard to say this…” he rambled on, not able to look me in the eyes, “your mother- wasn’t an ordinary person. She was the direct descendant of the goddess. When she died, that title was placed onto you-“
A gasp tears sharply out of me before our father can say anything else, dropping down onto my knees while gut wrenching sobs tear out of my throat.
“No!” I cried out, “no, please, no! I- I can’t be… I’m just- me.”
I start to feel my body shake violently as my sobs continue to rack my body.
I feel Creed's hands holding me steady, eventually pulling me back into him, shushing me softly.
“It’s okay… we’re going to get through this,” he whispers, his voice calming me slightly.
I look up with tear filled eyes, hiccuping as I try to slow my raging heartbeat, “does it look like anything will be okay? Did you not hear what he said? I won’t- I won’t even live here my whole life. The moment I need to go… be the goddess, I’ll be gone, forever.”
Creed sighs, knowing I’m right.
“Don’t think about that… I love you, let’s focus on the time we have together, not the time away,” he mumbled, quiet enough only I could hear him.
I give my best shaky smile, tucking deciding to truck my head back into his chest, forcing myself to take deep breaths.
I take a peek around and notice Lily is standing there with tear filled eyes, but our father? Gone.
“Alex?” I hear a quiet voice call out, “where are you?”
“Who is that?” Creed asks, looking between Lily and I.
My entire body tenses up, because I wasn’t ready for this. I wasn’t ready to introduce her to Creed. My brother, my guardian.
Creed goes to stand up, probably about to tell her off when Lily grabs his arm.
“Don’t!” She shouts nervously.
“What! If Alex doesn’t want them-“ he goes to say but I sigh while getting up off of the floor.
I go towards the door, to find my mate. Mentally preparing myself for this.
“I’m in here, Bea!” I called back, smiling as my beautiful mate came into view.
She returns a smile while grabbing my hands and placing a soft kiss on my lips.
I look back at Creed with red cheeks. I didn’t expect her to kiss me like that, “she’s… my mate.”
Creed’s eyes widen impossibly large while Lily stands there with a knowing smile, proud that I told him.
“Your mate?” Creed asks, confused, walking towards us slowly.
I swallow the pump that’s in my throat, feeling my nerves on edge.
Creed smiles at my mate, shocking me when he extends his hand towards her, “it’s nice to meet you, I’m King Creed. This is my mate, Queen Lily,” he says while gesturing towards Lily.
“We’ve already met,” Lily giggles, making me shoot her a glare.
“It’s nice to meet you, King Creed,” my mate says, bowing slightly at my brother.
“None of that!” Lily says, “Just Creed and Lily is fine, Beatrice.”
My mate smiles at Lily, nodding her head in acknowledgment.
“What happened when you left?” Bea asks me suddenly, making my body tense up.
“A lot has happened, Bea… I- I have a lot to explain,” I whisper quietly, not knowing if I’m ready to tell my mate what I’ve just found out.
“Just tell me, Lex. I'm your mate, nothing you say will be that bad,” she says reassuringly, squeezing my hands slightly.
“I’m-,” I stutter, “I’m… the goddess’s direct descendant. When it’s time… I will leave. To become the goddess.”
