Chapter 80 Alex’s Mate.
Creed’s pov.
“Creed,” a soft, almost magical sounding voice whispers to me.
I try to open my eyes, to see what’s going on around me but all I see is darkness.
“Creed,” it whispers again, “Creed, they are coming.”
I try to move my body but it feels like I’m paralyzed.
“Wake up!” The voice screams, making my eyes fly open and my body lurch forward.
I run to the bathroom and immediately start throwing up.
What the hell was that?
“Creed?” I hear Lily call out to me as the soft click of the door sounds after her.
“I’m in here,” I say while holding my stomach.
Lily walks into the bathroom, grimacing as she sees the state I’m in.
“Are you okay?” She asks while rubbing my back.
I exhale a breath I was holding in, the sensation finally gone.
“Yes, I’m fine. I- I had a vision I think… but it was different this time,” I say while looking up at her.
“What happened?” She asks curiously, helping me off of the floor.
“A voice was whispering my name… she said they are coming, right before she screamed at me to wake up,” I answered, still thinking of the voice that was in my head.
‘The goddess,’ Hunter whispers into my mind, making me realize that’s who was whispering to me, the goddess.
“The goddess, Hunter said, it was the goddess,” I say quickly, wiping the edge of my mouth as I stand up.
“The goddess spoke to you again, Creed, what does this mean? Are you connected to her somehow?” She asks.
“Yes,” my fathers voice says from our room, scaring the shit out of me.
I walk out of the bathroom to see my father standing in the open door.
“I’m sorry, son. I didn’t tell you because… I was lost after your mother died,” my father sighs, looking away from me.
“What are you doing here? I didn’t expect you,” I say back, glaring slightly at my father.
“I know I’m not your favourite person… but you need to listen to me,” he says seriously, walking towards me.
His eyes soften slightly as he sees Lily standing behind me.
“I heard you were pregnant with the heir, congratulations, my son. Take a seat,” he says, gesturing towards the chairs in our room.
“Go on,” I urge, “say what you need to say.”
He smiles slightly at Lily and I, pacing in his spot.
“Your mother… wasn’t an ordinary person. She was a direct descendant of the goddess,” he starts to say, making Lily gasp, “when she died… it placed the title of goddess onto Alex. Now, I haven’t told her-“
He went to say but I cut him off, “she’s next in line to be the goddess and you kept that from her!” I screamed while getting in his face.
“Please-“
“No! You’ve put us through so much, the countless times you weren’t even there and you kept this big of a secret!” I yell, cutting him off again, “she deserves better, we deserve better!”
“You have to understand, please, son, I wasn’t in the right state of mind, I know that I was wrong, believe me, I know that now. I wanted to tell you first, I needed you there when she found out, I don’t know how to console her,” he managed to get out, stammering over tears of regret.
Something in my chest tightens but I push it away, the hatred, the anger I feel, stomping away any chance of forgiveness.
“No, you don’t get to pull that! You don’t know how to console her because you were never there! You didn’t even raise her, I did! I did that!” I yell, choking on my sobs, every emotion this man has ever made me feel hovering above the surface, finally showing its face.
I feel Lily’s hand on my back and feel some of the tension slip away, but the anger, it’s still hot and ready.
“You don’t get to come here… into my home unannounced and drop this onto me, onto us!” I say while gesturing towards Lily and I.
“My mate is pregnant, heavily pregnant with our four fledglings. She doesn’t need this kind of stress. I think you should leave.”
As my father hangs his head and goes to leave, Alex’s small frame pops into the door.
“What’s going on…?” Alex’s small voice whispers, stepping into the room.
“Alex,” I say, my voice breaking, “please, come here.”
She takes slow, cautious steps towards me, her eyebrows up in confusion.
“Creed,” she hisses as I grab her and wrap her up in the biggest hug, “I asked what’s going on! Why are you hugging me this way?”
“I’m so, so sorry, Alex,” I whisper, tears rolling down my face.
“Creed!” She snaps angrily, slapping my shoulder, “please, what happened?”
“He can tell you,” I motion towards our father, letting her go only for now. Feeling every torturous emotion right now.
“I’m sorry, Alex. I kept a secret from you, from everyone. It’s hard to say this…” he rambled on, not able to look her in the eyes, “your mother- wasn’t an ordinary person. She was the direct descendant of the goddess. When she died, that title was placed onto you-“
Alex gasps sharply before our father can say anything else, dropping down onto her knees while gut wrenching sobs tear out of her throat.
“No!” She cries out, “no, please, no! I- I can’t be… I’m just- me.”
Her body shakes violently as her sobs rack her body, making me tense up.
I take small steps towards her, placing both hands onto her shoulders, trying to steady her.
Without a word I pulled her back, resting her head against my chest and shushing her, just like when she was a little girl.
“It’s okay… we’re going to get through this,” I whisper, trying to comfort her in any way I can.
She looks up with tear filled eyes, hiccuping as she tries to calm herself down, “does it look like anything will be okay? Did you not hear what he said? I won’t- I won’t even live here my whole life. The moment I need to go… be the goddess, I’ll be gone, forever.”
I sigh, knowing she’s right. She’ll be gone, forever. I would never see my baby sister again.
“Don’t think about that… I love you, let’s focus on the time we have together, not the time away,” I mumble, quiet enough only Alex could hear me.
She gives me a shaky smile, tucking her head back into my chest while taking deep breaths.
I hear Lily somewhere behind me, sniffling softly, and our father, he’s gone. Left. He walked right out of the door.
“Alex?” I hear a quiet voice call out, “where are you?”
“Who is that?” I ask, looking between Lily and Alex.
I feel Alex’s body tense up, and she shrinks into herself.
Thinking it’s somebody causing her problems I’m about to get up and make them leave when Lily grabs my arm.
“Don’t!” She shouts, looking nervous.
“What! If Alex doesn’t want them-“ I go to say but hear Alex sigh. She gets up off of the floor and walks towards the door.
“I’m in here, Bea!” She called back, smiling as a girl came up towards her. She’s got red hair, green eyes and she’s a lot taller than Alex.
I raise my eyebrows in confusion until the girl Alex called “Bea” leans in and kisses her.
Alex looks back at me with red cheeks, “she’s… my mate.”
