Chapter 82 Not For Long.
Lily’s pov.
“I’m-,” Alex stutters, “I’m… the goddess’s direct descendant. When it’s time… I will leave. To become the goddess.”
Beatrice’s eyes widened impossibly large while a gasp tore out of her.
“You’ll… leave?” She whispered so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.
“Yes,” Alex says softly, “and I’m hoping you’ll come with me.”
Beatrice’s eyes fill with tears. She tries to blink them away, but they just keep falling.
I stand there awkwardly watching, feeling my own emotions taking over.
“I- I don’t know if I can,” she cries softly, “I’m not a shifter, I don’t even have shifter blood in my system… how would I possibly go with you?”
Alex steps even closer to Beatrice, gripping her hands tightly, staring into her eyes with what only looks like a promise.
“I will bring you with me,” she says with resolve, “I will be the goddess. You're my mate. I wouldn’t be going anywhere without you.”
Beatrice lets out a little cry, wrapping her arms around Alex tightly, maybe afraid she might disappear.
Tears make their way out of my own eyes now, making me sniffle slightly.
I feel arms around me now, making a small smile break out on my face.
Creed, knowing I needed him right now, came.
I place my hands on top of his and lean into him, closing my eyes and just feeling him at this moment.
‘I’m sorry, Lily. I couldn’t tell you, there’s still so much I can’t tell you,’ I hear Sapphire whisper sadly into my mind.
‘You knew?’ I ask confused, ‘you knew… and you didn’t tell me. And there’s more you’re not telling me?’
As I keep asking my dragon these questions, anger starts to take over, making me feel hot.
“Ouch!” Creed says, stepping away from me fast.
I open my eyes and turn around, seeing that I had burned him.
“Alex, you guys should go,” he mumbles, looking directly at me with a sad look on his face.
“Okay- can I come back later?” Alex asks him from behind me, sounding nervous.
He nods his head but doesn’t take his eyes off of me, instead, he slowly starts to come towards me.
“I’m- I'm so sorry, Creed!” I croak, feeling my body start to cool down, “I don’t know what happened.”
“It’s okay,” he says softly, grabbing my hands, “you lost control. You need to trust Sapphire more… she knows what she’s doing.”
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my raging emotions down. He’s right, when the time comes, she’ll tell me… right?
“Let’s focus on something else for now, love. How about we check on the babies again?” He asks with a smile, placing his hand gently onto my belly and feeling one of the powerful kicks they give.
“Wow, I’ll never get used to that,” he says with so much love in his eyes as he smiles down at my belly.
“I don’t think I ever will either… I don’t know how much longer my body can handle this, they’ve already stretched me so big…” I mumble anxiously, absentmindedly rubbing my stomach.
“You’re so strong. I know you can do this, everything will be okay,” he says, giving me a soft kiss on my forehead.
“Should we go find my grandmother?” I ask with a small smile.
“Yes, do you want Raya to be there?” He replies with a bigger smile than I can muster.
I nod my head, liking that idea.
We headed downstairs, in search of my grandmother.
Creed already mindlinked Ryan, letting him know to find us with Raya.
My grandmother was nowhere in the tribe house, making me go outside to look for her.
I sense that she’s close… I just can’t see her anywhere.
I walk closer to the tree line, looking deep into the woods and I spot her sitting on a log, eyes closed looking like she’s meditating.
“Creed,” I say, turning around to tell Creed, but he’s not there.
Shrugging it off I go towards my grandmother, knowing he’ll find us eventually.
“Grandma!” I call out as I near her, seeing a smile split onto her face.
“Lily,” she says in a calm voice, "come here.”
“What are you doing out here?” I ask as her eyes open.
“To get fresh air, peace of mind, a quiet place to collect my thoughts,” she says quietly, looking at my belly suddenly.
“I was also thinking of the babies, what’s happening to them and why they may be growing so fast. It doesn’t make any sense… I just can’t figure any of this out,” she all of a sudden says with a sad look on her face.
“What does that mean… For them?” I ask, fearing the worst.
“The only thing I know for sure… is that we’ll need to do a C section. To deliver them safely so you and all four babies live, that’s what we'll need to do.”
She looks away slightly but her eyes come back and meet mine. I hold her gaze, trying so hard not to freak out right now.
I don’t understand any of this, why does this have to happen to me? To Creed?
“What’s going on?” I hear Creed call out from the tree line, his scent invading my nose.
“Can we go back to the tribe house?” I whisper to my grandmother, “this place is creeping me out.”
She chuckles but stands up from her spot, hooking her arm through mine and leading the way towards Creed.
As we near Creed, the hair on the back of my neck stands up, a chill running through me from the feeling of being watched.
….
Third person pov.
Just as Lily turned around to see who or what was watching her, Virginia, hiding behind a tree with scent suppressor and an enchanted cloak on, ducked out of sight quickly.
“That stupid girl… she won’t stand in my way for long,” Virginia sneered angrily, pure hatred in her eyes as she watched Creed and Lily walking back towards the tribe house, hand in hand.
