Chapter 222
Chapter 222
"Hello, beautiful lady, I need to see your CEO."
The receptionist was startled by Samuel's tone. William wasn't someone just anyone could meet - you'd need to make an appointment at least three days in advance to see him.
She looked up and glanced around. This cute kid had appeared in the lobby all by himself, with no one accompanying him, which made her curious.
"Kiddo, why do you want to see our CEO? Mr. Morgan is very busy."
Samuel said directly,
"I have something very important to ask him."
He wanted to know why his mom and dad didn't live together. Yara's parents lived in the same house and often picked her up from school together.
He wanted his mom and dad to pick him and his sister up from kindergarten together too.
In his little head, he'd also wondered if maybe Dad didn't want Mom, Sophia, and him, which was why Mom brought them to live in Harmony City. If that was really the case, then he didn't want a dad like that anyway.
The receptionist took out a lollipop and handed it over,
"Kiddo, did you get separated from your mom and dad? Do you remember your dad's phone number? I can call him for you."
Samuel pouted, looking troubled,
"I got separated from my dad, but it's okay, I've found him now. Can you call your CEO down here? I have something very important to ask him."
The receptionist was completely stunned. She'd worked here for three years and had never heard that William had a son.
"Are you saying Mr. Morgan is your dad?"
Samuel was speechless. Why were these adults so slow? He'd been talking for ages and she was only just getting it. Adults were really dumb.
"You guessed right, so can you call him for me now?"
The receptionist paused, thinking back to novels she'd read. Although she'd never heard that William had a son, it would be normal for him to have a secret child. And now that she looked at this cute little boy, the sharpness in his features really did look somewhat like William.
Unable to decide what to do, she called James.
"Mr. Smith, there's a kid at the front desk saying he's Mr. Morgan's son. Will you come down and get him?"
James was in a meeting. The receptionist's words shocked him completely. He knew William's romantic situation over these past few years better than anyone - he'd been immersed in the pain of losing his wife and hadn't been with any other woman.
Where would a child come from?
His heart was racing. Thinking back to four years ago, that evil woman had left without a word. He'd searched for four years with no trace of her. Could it be that the pill William had given her back then hadn't worked, and now she'd come looking?
He glanced at William, who was focused on the meeting, and the circle of executives sitting around. He didn't dare report this private matter to William, so he quietly slipped out of the conference room and quickly pressed the elevator button to go to the first floor.
In the first-floor lobby, Samuel was led by the receptionist to sit on a small sofa, drinking a beverage.
James looked over and thought, oh no, this kid looks so much like Mr. Morgan.
His guess was probably right.
He walked over and first carefully examined the cute, lively-looking little boy. No matter how he looked at him, he seemed like a mini version of William - those eyebrows, that nose, that face shape...
Samuel wasn't afraid of people. As James examined him, he also stared openly at James,
"Do you know my dad?"
James looked around. Many employees were coming and going through the lobby. William's private affairs shouldn't be discussed here - it would become gossip for the employees.
"Kiddo, I'm Mr. Morgan's assistant. Come with me."
Samuel looked over at the receptionist who had given him water. The receptionist nodded at him, indicating it was safe to go with him.
He followed James into the CEO's private elevator, went straight to the top floor, and entered the CEO's office.
After closing the door, James dared to ask him questions.
"Kiddo, can you tell me how old you are and what your name is?"
Samuel was still somewhat cautious and didn't want to tell him directly,
"Where's my dad? Didn't you say you'd take me to find my dad?"
James smiled,
"This is Mr. Morgan's office. He's in a meeting right now."
After saying this, he picked up a photo album from the CEO's desk to show the little guy,
"Is this the person you're looking for?"
Samuel looked at the photo and felt relieved. Sure enough, his guess was right - William was his dad.
The photo showed that man with Mom. If they weren't a couple, they wouldn't pose so intimately for a photo together. Mom wasn't a casual person, and in his little heart, no man was good enough for his excellent mom.
This man being his dad - he'd give him a passing grade. He looked decent enough, just a bit fierce.
He sat on the sofa, swinging his little feet, patiently waiting for this dad he'd never met to come back.
In the conference room, William and a group of executives finally settled on a plan. After announcing the meeting was over, those old guys rushed off to brief their subordinates. In less than a minute, only William remained in the conference room.
James knocked and entered, organizing his words,
"Mr. Morgan, your son is here looking for you."
William froze suddenly. His reaction was completely within James's expectations.
Clearly, they were both thinking the same thing.
William was stunned. This wasn't a small matter. Four years ago when Sarah ran away, he hadn't personally seen the baby in her belly miscarry after all. Anything was possible.
He dropped the documents he hadn't finished organizing and strode toward his office.
Samuel was already tired of waiting, dozing off while hugging the photo album.
When William came in and saw this boy sleeping in his office, countless questions waited to be answered in his mind.
Samuel heard the sound and sat up, looking at William and comparing him to the photo, confirming it was him.
"Are you William Morgan?"
Samuel called this strange man by his full name directly. This man did look a bit fierce, but if he bullied Mom, he'd deal with him anyway.
William raised an eyebrow, finding this little boy had some courage. Those old guys at the company all had to respectfully call him Mr. Morgan when they saw him. In this building, there were hardly any people who weren't afraid of him.
"Who sent you to find me?"
Samuel said,
"I came by myself. I'm not a little kid - do I need someone's permission to find a person?"
William was almost amused by his mature way of speaking. This little guy actually considered himself an adult?
"How old are you, and what's your name?"
Samuel hadn't told James earlier because he was being cautious, but now facing the person he was looking for, he didn't plan to hide it,
"My name is Samuel, and I'm four years old."
When William heard him say four years old, he froze completely. If it weren't for that car accident back then, his two babies would also be four years old.
"You don't have the surname Brown?"
Samuel kept his guard up and didn't tell him his surname was Davis. Hearing him say that, his little face was full of confusion,
"Why would I have the surname Brown?"
Mom's surname was Davis, Dad's surname was Morgan - no matter what, it wouldn't be Brown's turn, right?
This dad of his really wasn't very smart. No wonder Mom didn't want him.
