Chapter 221
Chapter 221
The car drove all the way near the Morgan Group. Samuel shouted, "Uncle Jeffrey, slow down a bit."
Jeffrey had already slowed the car to its minimum speed, but the little guy still thought he was driving too fast. "Slower!"
William had a dinner engagement that evening. The company elevator happened to be under maintenance today, so he came out of the building, waiting for James to bring the car over.
Robert glanced out the car window and happened to see William standing there with his tall frame and long legs, constantly raising his hand to check his watch, looking like he was in a hurry.
He was startled and looked at the two children. Sophia was playing with her strawberry bear, and Samuel was focused on studying his phone watch. Neither child had noticed the person outside the car. He breathed a sigh of relief.
Robert figured it must be a coincidence. Two four-year-old kids wouldn't have that many tricks up their sleeves to direct the car to drive right under the Morgan Group building. Besides, no one at home had told them about their father, and the two children knew nothing about William.
Every time the two babies asked about their father, Ava would tell them that daddy went to the moon to learn magic and he would come back when they grew up.
In just a few seconds, a thin layer of sweat appeared on Robert's forehead. He instructed Jeffrey, "Drive faster."
He glanced out the window again. William was still standing there, gradually becoming a black dot in his view. He couldn't allow any accidents to happen. He absolutely couldn't let the two children meet that scumbag.
By the time the car reached here, Samuel had already drawn everything he wanted to remember on paper. His goal for today was accomplished, and it didn't matter where the car went next.
Samuel said, "Uncle Robert, I want to set off fireworks."
Robert frowned. "Fireworks are banned in the city. Think of something else."
Sophia replied, "Uncle Robert, can we go on the Ferris wheel? I'll like to take pictures of the night view to show Mommy. When Mommy sees pretty lights, she'll have more design inspiration."
Robert touched Sophia's little braid. Girls were indeed more thoughtful. These two kids had completely opposite interests. Samuel liked tinkering with electronics, while Sophia took completely after her mother, liking to collect pretty little stones, beads, and trinkets, and enjoyed drawing them on paper.
Then Robert said again, "Okay, let's go on the Ferris wheel now and video call Mommy, alright?"
When the two kids heard they would video call Mommy, they happily clapped their hands in approval.
The next day, Robert had to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and left early in the morning before the two children woke up.
After Sophia and Samuel got up, the two began quietly whispering and planning their grand scheme to find Daddy. Samuel had memorized the map, and all those marks he made yesterday were now etched in his mind.
The task of getting out was left to Sophia.
Aurora was preparing breakfast in the kitchen when Sophia ran over with little steps, hugging her leg and shaking it,
"Aurora, Aurora, I want to eat the little cake Uncle Robert bought last night."
Aurora had already prepared a nutritious breakfast with vegetables, staple foods, and protein all well-balanced. Aurora always personally prepared the two children's meals. She was not only a childcare specialist but also a nutritionist.
"Sophia, today I made your and Samuel's favorite vegetable egg rolls, and mixed grain porridge. Let's eat the food at home, okay?"
Sophia pouted and shook her head,
"No, I just want to eat the little cake. I want to eat the little cake."
Sophia acted cute while hugging her. Aurora was having trouble resisting, but thinking that Ava rarely gave the children sweets at home, she still needed to make a phone call to ask.
Ava received the call while stuck in traffic, "Aurora, what's up?"
"Sophia wants to eat a little cake and is getting a bit emotional."
Ava sighed, "Then let her have it this once. Remember not to give her too much cream. Her digestion is a bit weak, and eating too much will give her a stomachache."
"Got it, just a little bit."
As Aurora spoke, she made an OK gesture to Sophia, who was hugging her leg.
After hanging up, the two children jumped for joy,
"Yay, we can go eat little cakes~"
Aurora put on her backpack, which contained various tissues and the two kids' water bottles. Just before leaving, she remembered. "Where are we going to buy the cake?"
When they were in Harmony City, the two children liked cakes from a dessert shop in the city center, but now they were in Emerald City, which she wasn't familiar with.
Samuel jumped in front of Aurora like a little adult. "Aurora, I know. I remember the route Uncle Robert took us yesterday."
Samuel had a super memory, which didn't surprise Aurora. "Okay, then you lead the way."
At this moment, Aurora didn't know she had been schemed by two four-year-olds.
The three of them left the hotel and called a taxi. Samuel directly told the driver the name of that dessert shop.
Aurora wasn't familiar with Emerald City. As a newcomer, she had no idea that the shop Samuel told the driver about was right downstairs from the Morgan Group. These two kids didn't really want to eat little cakes at all—they had ulterior motives.
The car stopped in front of the dessert shop. After getting out, Samuel looked up and down at the tall building.
He had found news from a few years ago online, with photos of his mommy and the Morgan Group's CEO. The comments under those posts were all wishing them a hundred years of happiness and an early baby.
He guessed that this handsome-looking man must be Daddy. Otherwise, why would his mommy, who was as beautiful as a fairy, casually take photos with a man?
He didn't believe that nonsense about a magic academy on the moon—that was just a story to fool kids.
Daddy must have done something wrong and made Mommy angry enough to leave. He had to find a way to investigate this clearly. Otherwise, Yara at kindergarten would keep making fun of him and his sister, saying they popped out of a rock and didn't have a father.
Aurora held each child's hand as they walked into the dessert shop. She ordered Sophia's favorite strawberry cake and Samuel's favorite blueberry cake, and the three sat in a booth. Samuel's big eyes rolled around and met Sophia's gaze. A mischievous idea had already formed in his mind,
"Aurora, I need to use the bathroom."
"Okay, I'll go with you."
Aurora stood up, wanting to accompany him to the bathroom. She looked back at Sophia sitting obediently. "Sophia, do you want to come too?"
Sophia replied. "No, no, I don't want to go right now."
Samuel saw that Aurora had taken the bait and struck while the iron was hot. "Aurora, you stay here with my sister. Samuel will go by himself. Samuel is a man, he doesn't need company to use the bathroom."
Samuel acted like an adult, worried that Sophia would be unsafe here alone.
Aurora hesitated and asked, "Do you know where the restroom is?"
As soon as she asked this question, she felt it was unnecessary. Samuel was a child with extraordinary memory and intelligence far beyond ordinary people. When they were in Harmony City, he often walked around by himself, and he was better at remembering routes than adults.
"Come back right after you're done, okay? The waiter will bring the cakes soon."
Samuel raised his little head,
"I know."
Aurora watched him walk toward the restroom. What she didn't know was that as soon as Samuel disappeared from her sight, he immediately found another exit.
Coming out of the dessert shop, he went straight into the Morgan Group building.
