THE ROYAL WOLF

LAURA

Then all of a sudden, Laura began coughing terribly, it seemed as though something had stuck to her throat. She wondered what that could be which was about choking the life out of her. When she was coughing, she reluctantly looked at the sky, and something shocking happened. The full moon which looked so beautiful immediately became crimson red all at once.

And for some reason, she felt like the moon was responsible for what was happening to her. This was her 18th birthday and she was supposed to be transforming, what was wrong with her? Why wasn't she changing but rather feeling very uncomfortable with a terrible cough?

Laura tried the best she could to control her cough, but it seemed to be of little or no help to her at that point in time. She began wondering about what she was to do to be precisely, coupled witj all of the stress she was going through at that moment.

Suddenly, Laura felt like she was being pulled into a plane, it was like a cave. Laura shook her head in fright. This could not be real at all. Why would she be in such a place?

Why had the garden suddenly turned into a cave? Was this a trap or something?

Laura tried to get out of the cave, but it seemed the cave was blocked on every side and she wouldn't be able to escape to freedom this time.

No no no, this can't be, why isn't she transforming? What is this strange place? Laura looked around the cave, hoping to see just anything that could help her in escaping from cave.

Just then, it seemed the walls of the cave were littered with inscriptions.

She tried to walk closer to the wall in other to read what was written on it.

The letters looked strange, but then she instantly recognised the writing to be the ancient letters of the witches.

She remembered reading it somewhere in the study room. Which she sometimes snuck into. She can't remember the particular book or its name, but she saw a familiar inscription on it.

Only the witches are said to know the letters and their meaning.

She also remembered skipping that particular part of the book since she was unable to read and understand what the inscription said.

And right now she was seeing some wordings which looked like the inscriptions of the witches.

There are just a few witches in the werewolf clan, and so far as she was told, they were so rare that nobody could tell where they are.

It was as though they had disappeared from the surface of the earth.

Laura walked slowly over to the written inscriptions on the wall. The writings looked very outstanding handwriting and smart so she felt the need to admire the words.

But strangely, she was shocked that the inscriptions which she had originally wanted to admire suddenly became readable. This was rather strange. Since she only could read the first words she decided to read the rest.

"ON THE NIGHT OF THE TRANSFORMATION THE MOON WOULD BECOME CRIMSON AND THE ONE WHO WAS TO BRING ABOUT THE DOOM OF THE WORLD WOULD OFFICIALLY BEAR THE CURSE."

Laura shifted away from the inscription with a gasp. This was supposed to be a dream, a vision it was exactly.

Why in the world was she able to read such? Just what exactly was happening? Why were things happening that way? What exactly was she doing now?

Laura was still asking herself about what happened when she suddenly felt her vision go dark. The next thing she knew her body slowly became hotter and hotter.

She felt discomfort and suddenly felt dizzy the same time. The next second, her discomfort was accompanied by the snapping of her bones.

Laura began feeling immense pain as her bones continued to snap. She tried to suppress the scream that was about to escape her lips, but there was no way she could help herself now. The next thing she knew was her clothes getting torn on the parts of her hands and feet.

Laura fell to the ground helplessly and began to scream in pain. She cried loudly until it became a growl. At that moment, she suddenly heard growls from different parts of the cities. Her ears became sharper and her sense of smell and vision also became higher than an ordinary person.

Laura peered down at her legs, and to her utmost bewilderment she saw white furs and she looked quite high from where her legs were located.

"Greetings, Your Majesty."

"Huh? Who was that? Laura turned around hoping to see the person speaking to her. But to her greatest surprise, she found no one. How strange. Just a moment ago, she thought she heard someone's voice. Who could that be?"

"Are you perhaps looking for me?"

"Who are you," Laura asked going around in circles in her wolf form."

"My name is Diane, and I'm your royal wolf!"

Laura felt engaged at that very moment.

"Diane, you got me cinders earlier. Welcome, and I'm glad you are here."

Now that Laura was very contented with her royal wolf. She was expecting to see her other self.

"Are you waiting for your second transformation?"

"Yes, Diane. You do know I'm hybrid right?"

"Yes, of course, I know you are a hybrid. I've always known, even before I had the chance to."

"What does that mean?" Laura asked, looking carefully confused.

"Well, let's say I've always known about everything about you but I never had the powers to show myself. We are only given the powers to awaken in the body of the chosen ones by the moon goddess on the eighteenth year of existence.

"Oh," Laura now understood why werewolves awaken on the 18th year.

"So back to why I've not completed my transformation yet."

"Well, that's because you don't have to transform, you don't have to worry about that yet, when the time comes, you would transfer on your own.

But you have to be careful about your blood lust when that time comes, so we won't pose a danger. We are the hope of the world.

"Are you trying to say we are the destruction of the world?

"What destruction? We would never become the destruction. We need to fight our cruel fate.
