THE HOWLING
DRAKE
Drake was in his king-sized bed enjoying a cool nap when he suddenly had the dream. It was that dream where he found himself in a garden and saw the transformation of someone he hand had never seen. Everything seemed so strange to him. The person in front of him turned into a vampire under the red crimson moon. For no reason he found himself walking the vampire in question. Just then this same vampire which he saw suddenly turned into a huge werewolf.
Drake could not believe his eyes or understand why the vampire was suddenly a white huge werewolf. What was this, and why can't he walk away from the wolf in front of him now?
Why was he even going closer to this complicated creature in front of him?
It must be a beast to have turned into a vampire and now a werewolf. Drake walked over to the beastly creature in front of him. The creature was just a few steps away from him.
The eyes of the werewolf were red. The wolf was the brightest and purest he had ever seen and its colour was just so rare. Just then it changed to green. Drake was greatly astonished at how beautiful those eyes were.
Just what kind of werewolf was it? Where did it come from?"
Before Drake knew what was happening, he was already in front of the werewolf. It stared at him with so much interest in its eyes.
Drake was overwhelmingly captivated by the eyes of this white werewolf in front of him that he helplessly stretched his hands towards the wolf.
The wolf in question also moved toward him as though it wanted him to touch it.
Just as he touched the white wolf, his hands suddenly vibrated and he felt some tingling sensation that put him in a state of ecstasy at that very moment.
Drake immediately jolted out of bed at that very moment. He breathed heavily, after having such a dreadful dream. It was dreadful and strange because what he dreamt about never really existed.
This was the first time he was having such a dream and it made his heart race. Most especially the time when he touched the wolf. Why the hell did he even dream about a vampire
Drake wondered if it was because of the vampire king he met some few days ago. But then he did not remember thinking of him before he slept.
He stood up from his bed and headed to his study room. The thought of what had been happening to him these past few days has been truly agonising for him. Sometimes he wished he never went to the palace.
All of these changes and dreams started when he took a trip to the palace.
He sat down on his chair and quickly turned on his laptop.
He had work to do, so rather than wait till the next morning, he had better start doing some work, already to get his head off things. He looked at the time, and it was past 3:am which was quite early. Those who kept watching over the pack must still be awake by now.
While Drake was busy checking out some new outputs for his work tomorrow, he suddenly heard a loud howl. At that moment, Drake froze. The growl seemed to be calling out to him.
He shook his head and tried to focus on what he was doing, but that wasn't working at all. His vision suddenly became blurry that very instant.
This can't be happening, why was his vision getting dimmer, what was wrong with him? This isn't right at all.
Immediately, he mind-linked his beta.
Drake stood up from his chair, covering his ears with his hands. The howl was like he was being called.
He could not respond to the call of howl. He was an Alpha wolf and it was impossible for howl of another werewolf to affect him.
His office door immediately flew open and Efron marched in, briskly abd began to scam every corner of the room.
"I came as soon as I heard your summoning. Are you okay?"
Drake still had his hands to his ears since the howling persists. Whoever was doing that must surely want him dead.
While his beta asked him these questions, he was shocked to see that his beta looked perfectly fine. He doesn't look affected by howling at all.
"Can't you hear the howling?"
"The howl? Yes, I can hear it."
"And how do you feel listening to it?"
His beta shrugged his shoulders and responded with "nothing."
"Huh? You mean you are not affected by it?"
"What? Am I supposed to be affected by the howls?"
Drake was confused about what was going on. He was the only one feeling different. What does this even mean? Who could the wolf howl be?
Drake had so many questions in his head that have no answers to them. This was very strange. Something like this had never happened to him like this before. This was new, and strange too. What could it be, for goodness sake!
"Alpha Drake?"
Drake snapped out of his thoughts and brought his gaze over to his beta. Just then, he realized he was awaiting a reply from him.
"You know what? Just forget about it. Forget we talked about this from the beginning."
"Huh?"
"Stop asking me. You can leave my room now, I need to have some rest."
"Okay. Do call me if you need anything though."
His beta left the room as soon as he said the words. Drake took a glance at the window, and he realised that the howling had stopped.
No wonder he wasn't holding his ears anymore. Good thing whatever it was had stopped howling. How would he have been able to sleep for the night?
He took another glance at the clock and it was 4:30 pm. It was almost morning. Well, he just has to close his eyes for an hour or two before getting up for work, he guessed.
