Chapter 191
Chapter 191
Eclipse
The Moon Goddess’s presence brought her husband, yet the mood was still light. If someone told me that I, as only a Kappa, would be mated to Alpha and have grandkids that link me to my goddess, I’d have laughed.
Anyone would.
My mate was a crown prince with an Old One’s title; it was always expected of him that he’d marry I don’t know, possibly Councilman Agustus’s daughter or something.
Someone royal blooded… Not a commoner, and definitely not one who had no experience to do princess duties!
More tables were brought out, but they became more of a place to put your drink than a place to sit. We all hung out, while a nice breeze from the direction of the forest made the outdoors nicer.
It’s always surreal seeing them, and conversing with them even though we see them regularly. Like I sat between Kaiden, and the Horned One, who both were sharing beers Xaxas brought. He took a break from his video games, something I don’t understand…. But I did appreciate it. That he took the time out to do something with we mortals meant that he does on some level actually maybe kind of cares?
Maybe?
Even the Lord of Death was here, all the Great Night Princes, except he was the only one with a soda.
“I can tell by your questioning, you want an answer.” Said Asaguis, holding Lustros while he slept off his large meal.
“I mean… kind of?” I said honestly.
“I do care.” Said Xaxas with a little huff, rolling his eyes. “You fuckers are annoying always needing shit like air and water and rights but you’re my fuckers.”
Asanguis agreed, drinking a Dr. Pippur. “And then, you turn your attention to something else, and the next thing you know, the original mortal needs to be ferried. Like I just started liking you!”
“I know right?!” Complained Xaxas. “Like I’m still pissed about Chance. He could have lived a little longer!”
“He died of old age brother, let him rest.” Huffed the Lord of Death sadly. “If you wanted him around, you should have made him a vampire.”
“But then he’d be all cursed, and ‘woe is my existence’.” Xaxas countered. “Plus, he didn’t want to be a dragon or a gravehound either.”
“I told you lot to make yourselves more mortals.” Said the Horned One.
“I got dragons and undead. I got enough.” Said Xaxas. “That human was special… Chance didn’t care that I’m Judgment, that I rule this planet, or that I am Darkness… He just wanted to genuinely hang out.” Xaxas looked like he didn’t quite know how to word his feelings, and Harmony put her hand on his.”
“It’s ok to grieve Xaxas.” I said sweetly.
Harmony put her hand on his, and he sighed.
“Is that what this Is Eclipse?” He asked, and I nodded. “It sucks. I don’t have it often, but I do when I see the new generations. It always seems like the one who looks like him most is the one who gravitates to me first…. I don’t interfere with their mortality… Hell is not for them.” He summoned and downed a whole beer in one go. “I suppose I’m still getting used to the swiftness of it all.”
“Also father, that’s not the same.” Said Asanguis. “Especially since most of mine are in the afterlife, ever fearful my mood will be sour.”
“True.” The gods said casually.
I wanted to ask some stuff… I don’t know the next time I’d get another opportunity. “What about you Tyson? Or Bryson. How do you two feel about it? You two Izzy and Nixia. How do all of you feel about people?”
They all seemed to collect what they thought, but Nixxia went first.
“I was a blood slave to the vampires… It’s still odd sometimes to be Queen of the Dead…. Like people bow to me, and it still feels strange to go from being a human, to being this, I don’t know, divine spirit. Like if someone asked, I could heal their sickness, use my powers to fly, but I see people as people.”
“I do too, since I was raised mortal.” Said Bryson. “Yet… With my abilities… I don’t see myself as one anymore. I walk through walls, and soon I’m going to have horned kitsune followers.”
He’d made the pups their mates, something I don’t think I could rightly imagine…. It’s such a grand concept, yet they all had their various beverages, sitting out here with us, conversing how they manage the cosmos.
“And I’m only half god.” Said Tyson. “I don’t see myself as mortal, but I was raised around them…. I feel.. I have a great sense of justice to make their lives as fair as I can, but I also learned that I should not impede their freedom.”
“I like that.” Said Izzy. “Mom…. I could never see myself as somehow bigger or better than you, or anybody… I think that’s why we still try to live as closely as possible to a ‘normal Alpha and Luna’ lifestyle.
“Yeah grandma.” Said Harmony. “It doesn’t matter how much, or how many abilities we gain. You’re still my grandma. I can’t separate myself from my former mortality.”
“When they die, your hearts will break.” Said the Horned One. “But little one, since you have so much favor, I would not deny your soul’s passage to hell for visitation, nor your mate when you both go to Lunaria. I too rather like their sweet honesty.”
I didn’t expect that.
“I appreciate that Horned One.” I said happy with the answers, but I didn’t expect the Horned One and Moon Goddess to have opinions too, or at least, be willing to share since they are so important!
“You are all my sweet little mortals I made with my husband. Those who share my blood or not, I love them, as it took so much effort to make you.” Said the Goddess. “I want you, and your people to be happy, and prosperous, while also maintaining enough distance that you all don’t depend on me… but I will admit it… Sometimes I do get too carried away…. But I am glad I cursed you Kaiden… I don’t know what I was thinking pairing you with Brutus’s niece.”
“You were trying to make peace, putting opposites together….” The sky became night for a split second, and a rush of coolness was a stark contrast from the heat. “But my most precious…. She was a sinner. You would have put someone who was not worthy to be our blood in our most favored shifter bloodline.”
“Ew.” Complained Kaiden. “Thank you for the curse.” He raised his beer, and toasted with Bryson.
“I made half all there is, and what I did not make, I gave permission for life itself to exist.” Said the Horned One casually. “I am a force of nature, a very thing you need to survive. I am not just darkness… I am the void of space. I encase every star, every world…. The coolness, the quiet stillness of nothingness… My existence is your mercy, for Arviel in his zeal would roast you as the planet Veanis, or Merkury, the respective planets in your solar system. Actually, stop being annoying and come down here.”
“You can’t tell me what to… Fuck you.” The Lord of Light folded his arms, a little pissed, “And do not forget little mortals, I am every sun, every molecule of heat that sustains you, every ounce of my radiation feeds the soil.”
I thought the Earh Goddess as she held onto his right arm was going to say something profound, but Lia screamed.
“Bagel!” she beamed.
\[Pretty Tree Lady!\] our dog beamed…. She ran right up to the Earth Goddess…. and jumped all over her!
AH! I watched in horror with my mate as she licked the Earth Goddess, jumping all over her actual gold robes!
Fuck
“Yes, I am Pretty Tree Lady, little lass!” She beamed.
\[Baby!\] she wagged her tail, and the Earth Goddess’s hair became covered in orange flowers.
“Yes! I am with child! You’re such a good girl!”
…. That is the goddess that in legend, ripped the skin off a human for leaving trash in the forest, and made him use it as a bag to get it up……
“I want to pet her too!” Complained the Moon Goddess, and now our fourth pup was given attention and kisses….
“Sorry for her behavior.” I said sheepishly.
They didn’t hear me.
“Bagel get down.” Said Kaiden firmly.
He too was ignored.
They petted her, and summoned dog treats… The Horned One and Lord of Light chuckled.
“I will take note to remember who the most favored mortal in the cosmos is.” Chuckled Arviel.
“I think I will as well.” The Horned One snickered. “Here, have a mortal beer with us.”
“Why not. Today’s a wonderful day.” Arviel grinned, sitting next to Kaiden.
“Oh whatever. Tonight will be cool and crisp.” Zuviel countered.
…. Now if someone told me that the Lords of Light and Night would be at my grandson’s house sharing beers and chitchatting, I would roll my eyes. I don’t think I’d have ever imagined that there would be this level of peace.
“The peace is nice.” Said the Earth Goddess. “It feels good that my body is not a battleground…”
“And it feels good that I am free… That we can share this moment and not worry about being put in a cage, or made a hostage.”
“….And it feels good not to be so rigid, so overbearing to the point of my own detriment.” Admitted Arviel. “Why does everyone always look so surprised when I say I’ve actually learned my lesson?!”
“Because until now you've never learned your lesson!” Shouted Lia and Zuviel at the same time…
I didn’t expect the Earth Goddess and Horned One to team up on the Sun…. but seeing Xaxas keel over in laughter, spilling his drink on himself also caused an uproar of more laughter.
