a/n: this is going to be it for a while, since I'm switching books. You have to do one book at a time now

I had a log cottage in the woods rented, and the babysitter was already here. I figured, after so much family time, a little bit of time, just the two of us, wouldn’t be a bad thing. We were still dressed as we were earlier, though I still had no shirt. It didn’t matter; I get neither hot nor cold.
The Moon Goddess held our son gently, who slept so loudly that he snored. The castle was already buzzing with gossip. But how could it not? Many initially didn’t realize who grandmother was, and Mr. Julian didn’t say anything.
What made people start to realize that something was up, was father, and my uncles. I think someone might have heard them refer to grandmother as ‘mother’ but no one invaded their space. No one came out, nor did anyone interfere with our teatime, then later grill time since dad went back home and got some more meat to put on.
It turned out great too. Just a nice time on a lazy day. And now, they offered to give us some free time.
“We’ll have him back by tomorrow!” beamed grandmother.
“It will be midnight, before you lord over your mortals.” Chuckled grandfather.
“Regardless thank you.” I smiled. For around 24 hours, Lunaria and Hell will move at the same time as Urth, if only for my son’s sake.
They vanished.
I took Samira, holding her hips, and we teleported Immediately.
She clung tightly to me, having her eyes closed while I’d done this enough to see where I was going now…. If someone told me a year ago that I would woosh with magic, traveling the speed of darkness, I would laugh.
Gods I was glad I got the landing right; I didn’t want another couch incident…. That fucking hurt and I had to play it off.
She shyly twinkled, both her hair and her radiant personality…. It was such a stark contrast, moving from the outside of the castle, the netted front porch of the cabin. I was right, landing just in front of the pair of rocking chairs, but the look of amazement filled me with more pride than I’d like to admit.
“Woah!” she made the cutest little squeal, something I’ve never heard from her!
“That Was So Cute!” I yelled, laughing, and twirling with her….
I can count on my fingers how many times I’ve lost control of my heart, and around half of them are because of my mate’s sweetness… With her, I could not hold onto the reins, nor did I have to…. It skipped a beat before pumping in my chest like a drum. My everything giggled at my antics, and I felt kind of like a sentimental fool.
But love does that, especially to a wolf with no intention of looking less of a sentimental fool… With her alone, it seemed as if a spotlight was on her.
I put her down, … I swear I could scent arousal but there was no fucking way.
I chose not to mention it, taking in the great pine forest that surrounded this place. It went on as far as the eye could see, and I could hear a creek about half a mile away. The pristine, untouched wild did not call me however….
Seeing her blush all the way to her ears made her sparkle in the starlight was what I craved. It made me feel like I’d given her something she wanted… peace, a breath of privacy, and a taste of wilderness. We were deep in the forests of Grandia, so far north that if we tried to get here the mortal way, we would have used bikes, or something off road. The stillness of the night, with the occasional owl hoot, or breeze rustling the leaves made her shiver.
“Let’s go inside, and I’ll make some tea.” I said opening the door for her. She walked in, taking in the simple, but quaint cottage tended by a small family clan of dragons who roamed this area. The Bed and Breakfast app, like many others, was how I found it. The entire floor plan could be seen all from the only entrance, and I remained in the living room. There was no electricity here, but the dragons who own the cabins in the area tend to it.
“It’s wonderful.” She said fumbling with her fingers. She looked down shyly, and I put a finger under her chin.
“And we have this splendor available for as long as you like.” I said kissing her forehead.
Again, I swear I could scent more… but I would reject the notion. I wouldn’t ruin this by being too forward.
The cabin in question was a simple, stacked log one with only one floor. It was one bedroom, one bathroom, and a living room. The kitchen was honestly a single iron stove that one could put a skillet on, and stoke a fire to use. There was a wood, cabinet they had stocked. It had a verity of complimentary hot cocoas and teas, but I waited on starting the pot to boil.
I bought some wine for us too, that we could share it on the porch, and watch the aurora, along with the stars. They kept a magic cooler on hand, but it wasn’t one of the large ones. Maybe a gallon jug of water could fit inside, as it wasn’t really designed for long-term stays, but if we decided to, I could text them, and they’d bring a bigger one for wild game.
She explored, while I stood, watching her roam the small home… To be honest, if I wasn’t a king, this is where I would live… Gods that would be a wonderful life, having my family here, provided I rented a slightly larger cottage.
They had fairly generic leather furniture, just a loveseat, two armchairs, and a coffee table along with a cowhide rug in front of the stoked fireplace. They had a longhorn bull mounted overtop, the same black and white spotted hide as the rug, so I assumed it was the same animal. Other than that, the fabric, and sheets in the bedroom were white, because the dragons used hotel linen.
We were so far north, that we were almost, but not quite in Youkon Territory.
But that’s what I wanted. I wanted us to have actual…. real alone time. No cameras, no tabloids, no stupid plotting council. I wasn’t stupid…. But they hadn’t done anything yet. At least, nothing that would warrant me summoning my sword and killing them.
And here, if only for a few hours, we could be a couple, free of royal obligation. I arranged everything. Ronitus and John are working with my parents right now. Everything was covered. If we stayed a week, I suppose everything would be fine before I knight my second ever female councilman, my first female Alpha.
“What is this?” Asked Samira.
“A piece of privacy.” I whispered in her ear. My fangs almost tasted her skin, though I would not indulge…. Not yet.
“Finally.” She said smelling of fresh fruit, and blossoms…
I found myself holding her close, and her blush made her a tiny strawberry, enveloped in the grasp of a starved king, one who wanted her queen now that he knew she wanted his advances.
