Chapter 161 Please Don't Let It Happen Again
Quinn's POV
I hadn't responded to Grayson's question yet. I was still thinking hard.
I hadn't found the right words to tell him that I wanted Dylan to go back with him. I wanted Dylan to go with the others once they arrived at Grayson's aunt's place.
But how could I tell everyone without revealing my mum’s whereabouts?
"Quinn."
I turned my attention to Owen, who was staggering towards me. He even refused help from Grayson's parents, who wanted to support him.
Ugh, I hated his stubborn and pretentious attitude.
What's more, when he got close to me, he crossed his arms. "Don't blame Dylan. He just wanted to get confirmation from you. I'm the one who agreed to his request. So you can blame me."
I clicked my tongue. "Instead of meddling in our business, you should take care of yourself. Look, your head is bleeding."
Who would have thought that Grayson would then pull my waist so that I bumped into his muscular body. "He's an adult, there's no need to worry about him like that," whispered Grayson.
I sighed. All these problems, plus dealing with Grayson's jealousy, would be a deadly combination.
So instead of paying attention to Grayson's jealousy, I focused on something else. Which, Dylan's emotions.
I could sense that Dylan was stopping me because he didn't want to lose me. He was afraid I wouldn't come back.
He wasn't stopping me because he wanted to accompany me. That was a lie.
"Just because you're Quinn's boyfriend, you think you have the right to control what Quinn does?" Owen suddenly pushed Grayson.
Grayson responded in kind, adding a sharp punch to Owen's face.
Seeing the potential for a serious fight, I immediately tried to separate the two.
Unfortunately, when I stepped between them, Grayson's punch meant for Owen hit my temple instead. It sent me reeling to the side and I fell onto the asphalt.
"Oh fuck! What have I done!"
I could still hear Grayson shouting even though my ears were still ringing. But I didn't know what was happening behind me. Until suddenly something fell, like a hard object hitting a hard surface.
A second later, I felt Grayson's body completely envelop me. And at the same time, I also heard Owen scream...
"Dylan!"
With my head still spinning and my ears hurting, I turned to Dylan.
My heart stopped beating for a moment when I saw Dylan lying on the asphalt with his eyes closed.
Instantly, the pain I was feeling disappeared. I even felt like I had extra strength to push Grayson's big body away.
I ran towards Dylan. I pushed Owen away. I patted Dylan's cheeks like I had done before, hoping it would wake him up.
Unfortunately, even though I did it repeatedly until his cheeks turned red, it no longer worked to wake him up.
Oh no….
This isn't what I think it is, is it? This isn't the same condition Dylan had a few years ago when we found out about his illness, is it?
"Babe, please move aside. I'm gonna give Dylan first aid." Grayson slowly moved my body aside.
Meanwhile, I saw that everyone else was busy with their own tasks. Some were calling an ambulance and so on.
My body felt like it was floating. My movements felt slow and no voice came out of my mouth.
A few moments later, I felt another hug. This time it was from Mrs. Talon.
"Everything will be fine. Dylan will be fine."
My lips wanted to reply that I knew it wasn't going to be alright. Instead, my tears fell faster than the words that came out of my mouth.
"The ambulance will be here soon. Let's cancel the trip to the village and take Dylan to the hospital."
That place again. I really hated it.
"Let the doctors take care of Dylan. We'll wait here." Grayson gently pulled my hand before I stepped into the Emergency Room.
Ever since Dylan was lifted into the ambulance and we accompanied him during the trip, Grayson kept saying that everything would be alright. He always calmed me down and apologised repeatedly for accidentally punching me in the face.
I did feel safe because of his words and his presence. But that couldn't take away my worries about Dylan.
I was really scared to death if I had to hear from the doctor again about Dylan's worsening condition. In the past, every time that news was delivered, it felt like my world was falling apart. Even when there was good news, it felt like my world was getting better. But it kept repeating itself until I was mentally exhausted. So I really didn't wanna hear any bad news about Dylan.
I never wanted to relive those bad times. I really didn't want to.
"I know you're very scared and anxious, babe. But let's trust Dylan to the doctors who are treating him. This is the best hospital, so Dylan will definitely be fine."
I nodded slowly, looking at Grayson's face, which also looked very worried. "Can you guarantee that?"
"Yes. This is the best hospital."
Grayson's eyes watched my eyes alternately. He also put the ice pack back on the bruise on my temple. "I don't deserve to be forgiven. I hurt you. Look at this, I'm terrible."
I held Grayson's hand, which was holding the ice pack. "You didn't mean to. Don't blame yourself. But I don't condone violence either."
Grayson nodded. "I tried to control myself. For some reason, seeing Owen always makes me mad. But don't worry, I'll control myself better next time."
Now it was my turn to give Grayson emotional support. I did this by rubbing his hand, which was holding mine. "No relationship is perfect. All there is are people who keep trying to remind and improve each other. As long as you're willing to grow together with me, I'll always have room to forgive you."
"Sure, I'll always—"
Grayson hadn't finished his words when a nurse came out of the room. She approached us hurriedly. "The patient named Dylan needs a donor and intensive care. We need to discuss this with his family. Which one of you is the patient's family?"
