Chapter 160 Frustrated Efforts
Quinn's POV
Still processing the situation, I glanced at Grayson, who fortunately was unharmed. Thank goodness. At least none of us were injured.
"Quinny, are you alright?" Grayson quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and immediately did the same for me.
I nodded to reassure him. "I'm not hurt. But I'm worried about whose car that hit."
Grayson turned around because our car had flipped over. His eyes widened.
"Oh shit!"
Hearing that, I looked back too. It wasn't Grayson's parents' car. It was Owen's car.
Yes, Owen's!
And I saw Dylan in the car!
I jumped out of the car as soon as Grayson opened the door. I ran to Owen's car, which was upside down with the roof on the asphalt.
My heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest when I saw Dylan, who was sitting in the passenger seat, also upside down with blood running down his temple. Every step I took felt so heavy that my legs felt weak, like jelly.
"Quinn!" Grayson caught me from behind when I almost fell. He hugged me.
While in his arms, I heard his parents running to Owen's car. I couldn't see clearly because Grayson was trying to cover my eyes.
"Shhh, Dylan will be fine. Dad and mom are trying to get him out," said Grayson.
"He's bleeding," I said, my lips trembling.
"Yes, but I'm sure Dylan will be fine. He'll definitely be fine."
"The car is upside down! They're upside down too, gray bear!"
I finally decided to push Grayson away and go back to Owen's car.
No matter if I got hurt, I tried to break the window next to Dylan. Meanwhile, Mr. Talon also tried to break the window next to Owen.
Both of them were unconscious. Meanwhile, smoke began to billow from the front of the car.
So if I was asked to stay calm and be quiet, I couldn't.
"Quinny, move aside."
I turned around and pulled over when I saw Grayson coming with a large rock.
With one blow, Grayson managed to break the car windows. He then managed to free Dylan from his seat.
Grayson carried Dylan away from the car while pulling my hand too. Meanwhile, Mrs. & Mr. Talon carried Owen.
Luckily, luckily we had all moved away from the car just in time. Because not long after, the car exploded.
Grayson used his body to protect me and Dylan. He hugged us both tightly with his back to the car. So that the flying debris didn't hit us.
Oh my gosh. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if Dylan and Owen had been rescued too late. It was something I never wanted to imagine, even for a second.
"Are you okay, my Quinn?" Grayson asked in between the explosions that were still happening.
Instead of answering with words, I kissed him. I wanted Grayson to know that I was okay and that I was also very worried about him.
And I only broke the kiss when I heard Dylan groan. Then I checked on him.
I patted Dylan's cheek. "Can you hear me, Dylan? Hey?"
Dylan blinked and grimaced when he touched the wound on his temple. "What happened?"
"Oh my, thank goodness." I hugged him. But then I also hit him on the back. "What were you doing with Owen? Did you forget you only have one life, huh!"
Dylan didn't answer but instead looked at me and Grayson alternately.
What I didn't understand was how the two of them ended up here. Following us? But I didn't even tell Dylan.
Or... could Owen know?
Ah, whatever the reason, what was clear now was that Dylan must have known the reason I wanted to leave him temporarily with Grayson to live in the countryside. Because if he didn't know, he wouldn't have gone this far. I was absolutely certain.
"Who said it would work, Quinn?" Dylan looked at me. "Do you think it makes sense? Imagine, you've tried various treatments for me, but until now, none of them have really cured me, right? I don't mean to underestimate your abilities, but I think it's still impossible."
I shook my head. "Hey, I still want to try. Every opportunity must be tried, whether it works or not." I cupped his cheek. "At least I won't regret not trying."
"But I don't like you sacrificing yourself secretly without telling me and without asking my opinion. And also..." Dylan looked at Grayson's parents. "How can you be sure I'm the same as you?"
Oh, my guess was right. Dylan already knew.
"Did Owen tell you all this?"
"I heard it myself from your conversation with Grayson at the pool."
Dylan's answer left me speechless. It turned out that I was the one who ruined the plan, not someone else.
"I asked Owen to stop you guys. He was the only one I could think of, and I thought he wouldn't refuse my request," he explained.
"He wouldn't refuse because he had other plans," said Grayson.
Dylan looked at Grayson sharply. "You should’ve stopped my sister instead of supporting her."
"Grayson did nothing wrong," I defended him. "He just wanted to see you healthy so that I wouldn't be sad anymore. His intentions were good. But I made this decision myself, consciously."
Dylan turned his face towards Owen. "After what happened, are you still gonna continue the trip?"
I followed his gaze. "Yes. There's no reason to cancel it if it's for your own good."
"Don't you have any other ideas to prove it?" Dylan asked Grayson.
Grayson looked at me and I signalled with a shake of my head. "That's the only way," he replied.
I breathed a sigh of relief. "It won't be long. I promise."
"Then I'm coming with you. If you don't want to cancel it, then let me come."
"You can't. You have to undergo your regular treatment as usual. If you go to the countryside, there are no facilities like in the city," I argued.
Dylan folded his arms. "All right then, never mind. Let's all go back to the city."
I was about to explode, but Grayson patted me on the shoulder. He looked at me gently. "All right, if that's what you want, Dylan. When everything is done, I'll pick you both up. Okay?"
What I was afraid of if Dylan came with me was that he would meet our mother.
The reason I kept him with Grayson was to keep them apart. At least until this healing plan worked.
Because I didn't want Dylan's condition to worsen when our mother came back.
But it seemed like no one understood my intentions. Grayson even supported Dylan.
Oh my gosh, I hate keeping this secret to myself.
