Chapter 62 63

Chapter 62 63
LARA PARKER.

Spending the holidays at the Wilde’s cabin was a dream come true really, a dream that I did not even know I had until then. But it was still very worthwhile.

To be honest, by the time it came an end, I was even a bit hesitant to leave. For the first time in a very long time, I felt like Christmas was not such a bad holiday really, especially surrounded by his family and his team mates. At night, we all exchanged gifts and believe me when I say I was surprised that they all got me gifts. It almost made me feel embarrassed really because I had not prepared anything for any of them.

“We baked you a cake for your birthday as well.” Alice announced as she joined us all in the living room holding a two layered cake in pink frosting, with ‘happy birthday Lara’ written on it and a single candle lit.

My eyes teared up at the sight, and I did not know when the tears started falling. “I…you…” I shifted my gaze from her to the man I was leaned against, my eyes finding Killian’s. “…You told them?” I was not upset, just shocked.

I am more than grateful with the little celebration we had at midnight, and quite frankly I will not having this night end the way it had earlier as well, that is the best birthday gift I could get. And damn I truly sound like a horny dog…this is what this man has done to me really.

But at least the morning after pills I had brought alone did not go to waste. I almost thought I was getting ahead of myself when I tucked it in the my suitcase but I wanted to be safe. I meant my earlier words regardless of loving to indulge in the act.

He offered me a warm smile, extending both hands to wipe away my tears. “It is your birthday, of course we are going to celebrate it.” His thumb caressed my cheek as he wiped the tears away. “It is an important day, and you are important to us. We all want to make you feel special.”

‘You are important to us’ the statement stuck with me the most because I felt I did not deserve it really. They have only known me a couple of days at most, and yet they treat me as though I am a part of their family.

My heart warmed and more tears cascaded down my face without thought, making his frown.

“Do not cry, darling. No tears, okay?” He wiped the tears away regardless.

I sniffed. “I am sorry, I just could not help it.” I tried to get them to stop, but my emotions happen to be all over the place. Still, I managed to get them to stop.

He did not say anything regarding my statement. He only offered a slight smile, then gestured towards his sister. “Now make a wish and blow the candle.” He leaned down to whisper in my ears. “You can tell me your wish, I will make it happen.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, playfully pushing his chest. “It will not come true if I say it out.” I pointed out. “That is how wishes work.”

He scoffed, “If you tell me, I will make it happen.”

“Not a chance.” I brushed him off with a smile, before turning around. Sitting up, Alice closed the distance between us, placing the cake on the center table beside us. From where they all were, they began singing the birthday song, and my eyes welled up with tears once again as memories flooded in, reminding me of when my parents celebrated my birthday with me.

By the time they were done singing the song, my eyes were glossy. And when I closed my eyes to make a wish, I could feel the tears in my eyes dropping onto my face.

‘I wish I could stay this happy, even if it is for a short time.’ I wished in my head.

I do not want to be greedy, but I am happy at this moment, and all I want is for it to last even if it is for a short time. With that thought, I leaned down and blew the candle, and they all clapped.

I cut the cake, and Killian fed it to me, smearing an icing against my lips. Just as I parted my lips to scold him, he leaned down, in front of everyone and kissed me, licking away the icing.

When he pulled back, he swiped his tongue against his lips. “Sweet.” He mumbled with a smirk.

I glared at him, my cheeks coating red as I swatted him, looking away. In the background, I could hear the others chuckling but I was far too embarrassed really. The cake was shared amongst everyone and then the gifts exchange came. But instead of going straight towards the Christmas gift exchange, they all started by giving me birthday gifts, and my heart warmed at the sight.

“Mine first.” Alice excitedly pulled out her box, neatly wrapped in a pink wrapper with a bow tie.

I chuckled lightly at how giddy she was handing over the moderately big sized as I took it from her. It was a bit heavy, but not so much. All eyes were on me as I wrapped it, getting rid of the wrapping paper. As I pulled open the box and my gaze fell on the gift inside, I quickly found myself staring at her while shaking my head.

“I cannot…this is too much—”
