Chapter 61 62

Chapter 61 62
KILLIAN WILDE.
This is all a game to her, a passing moment thing. I know it is too early for her to assume anything of this, considering she is human and has no idea of the mate bond and the fated ties, but the connection is always there wolf or not.
I thought she felt the connection, that she could tell it was much stronger than any other she had with anyone else in the past; that she could see something happening beyond a casual fling—everyone sees it, but I guess not.
I was upset in the beginning sure, but a bigger part of me understood where she was coming from, and instead of staying upset with her over this, I decided to take the six months time with her to grow our relationship.
“Alpha, there has been nothing from Lazarius’s side still. It is like he had vanished into thin air, there’s no trace of him or the rogues any longer.” Nick updated me, bringing me back to reality.
I blinked, my attention yawing back to the present where I am seated in my office in the park house with Nick, and Hudson for a meeting. We had finished skating earlier, and while the ladies decided to spend some alone time, we took the chance to have this meeting instead.
“Alpha Ian has reached out regarding a meeting.” Hudson chirped in, “He suggested meeting with you prior the Blood Moon ball to discuss the issue at hand before the Alpha King.”
Nick’s brows pinched from where he was standing in front of my work table beside Hudson, turning his head to the side to look at the man. “Does he think bringing this issue to the Alpha King now is plausible?” He shifted his gaze to me, his frown deepening. “So far there have been no other rogue reports aside from their pack and ours, not officially. Clearly there is a reason why the other packs have yet brought it up. Why should we?”
Hudson hummed as he nodded in agreement. “He is right, Alpha. I also think it is best if we follow tow like the others. Bringing it up first might not necessarily be a good thing, at least not officially like that.”
My fingers drummed the table, the wheels in my head turning as I put the pieces together. “Alpha Ian is uneasy.” I pointed out, slanting my gaze upwards to meet the two men’s questioning ones before I added. “His father, the former Alpha Zeke was the one who assisted the former Alpha King to bring down Lazarius’s rogue empire so it is only expected that he would target his pack first.”
“He is scared of getting attacked so he wants the support of the royal court.” Nick iterated. “That is why he is trying to ally with us so you can get extra protection.”
I nodded, my fingers stopping the action of drumming the table. “And knowing how Lazarius works, he would in fact target his pack. But we do not know just how capable or big of an army he has right now. There is no telling when he would strike and how bad the  attack will be be. Alpha Ian has warriors and a large pack, but they can be brought down if Lazarius truly targets them. It is understandable that he is uneasy.”
“But why drag you into this?” Hudson’s brows pinched.
Before I could answer, Nick gave it to him. “The Alpha King has been in weak health since birth, everyone knows that. The Prophecy says he is not destined to live past 30 years of age. With no heir of his yet and the age drawing near, if he falls, the only one in the royal family that can claim the throne…”
“…is me.” I completed, my voice dropping because merely uttering such words are considered treason. I clicked my tongue, shaking my head. “I am not interested in the throne, but Ian considers me his best option right now but I am also under Lazarius’s radar. What he wants is to destroy the Werewolf Kingdom—so his main targets this time around is Ian’s pack with his father already dead, then me.”
Hudson slowly nodded in understanding, releasing a small breath. “What should we do then, Alpha? The Blood Moon ball is not until in two months time. Should we ally with Alpha Ian’s pack?”
“Not yet.” I held a hand to stop him. “Lazarius has his eyes on us I am certain, if we make any moves he will be aware. For now, act as usual not to alert him, and turn down Alpha Ian’s request for now. Tell him I am too occupied to meet. For this moment, we would observe and keep a low profile. I am certain he will bring himself to us, we do not have to go seeking him out.”
The two nodded at the same time. “Got it, Alpha.”
“As you wish, Alpha.”
And while we are doing that, I could focus on my other, important task;
Getting my mate to fall in love with me.
