Chapter 186 Between Two People
Chapter 186 Between Two People
Seeing Hannah still frozen in place, Amelia smiled. "Wondering why I'm doing this?"
Hannah nodded.
Amelia explained, "Once word gets out, more and more people will covet that classified file. I need the mastermind behind this to surface."
Hannah immediately understood and hurried off to execute the plan.
The news spread like wildfire. Wilson Corporation's classified information was suddenly being auctioned at astronomical prices on the black market.
After Amelia posted her message, someone quickly contacted her, wanting to confirm whether she was serious about acquiring the file.
Amelia arranged an in-person meeting. After all, this involved stolen corporate secrets—she needed to meet this person face-to-face.
The contact agreed readily.
Before leaving, Amelia called Tony, informing him that the company had released an updated program and asking him to come collect the files to take to Oliver at the hospital.
Tony arrived in the afternoon.
Amelia sat at her desk organizing documents, a cup of coffee at her side.
Tony knocked on the door. Amelia looked up and smiled faintly. "The files are on that desk over there."
She emphasized that these documents were extremely important.
Tony walked over and picked up the folder. Then, glancing at Amelia's coffee, he remarked casually, "I'm surprised you still like this kind of coffee."
Amelia paused, curiosity flickering across her face. "How would you know I like this coffee?"
Tony smiled. "You ordered this type at the hospital last time. I noticed. When someone keeps choosing the same thing, it means they genuinely like it."
"And when you genuinely like something, you don't give it up easily."
Was there a hidden meaning in those words?
Tony said nothing more and left the office.
The moment he was gone, Amelia's expression turned cold.
Can't hide it much longer, can you?
Eric, you'll pay for what you've done.
After leaving the hospital, Eric's phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he frowned in irritation and ignored it.
But the relentless ringing grated on his nerves until he finally answered.
A woman's voice came through.
"Eric, I'm really struggling right now. Can't you help me?"
Maggie's tearful voice filled the line.
Eric replied impatiently, "Don't come to me when you're desperate. You have a husband and a son, remember?"
Eric had long since uncovered everything about Maggie's past.
Nathan from Wilson Corporation was Maggie's ex-husband. She also had a son.
Just as he was about to hang up, her crying grew louder.
"But no matter what, I carried you for ten months and gave birth to you. I scraped together money for your surgery so you could have your new face. You can't just abandon your mother now."
Maggie's accusations poured through the phone.
Truth be told, after the Foster family collapsed, Maggie still had some assets. If liquidated, they would have been enough to live comfortably for the rest of her life.
But Maggie had gambled on investments, hoping to multiply her wealth.
Instead, she'd fallen victim to a scam. The con artist had made off with everything.
Now Maggie was broke.
She truly had no other options, which was why she'd called Eric for help.
Eric's mind was entirely focused on revenge. He had no interest in dealing with this. His voice turned even colder.
"I'll give you basic living expenses. That's it. Don't contact me again. Don't blow my cover."
He hung up without mercy.
Eric glanced at the files in his hand, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
They'd never suspect that after his surgery, he'd deliberately gotten close to Oliver. His revenge plan was only just beginning.
He would leave those who'd wronged him with nothing.
Eric returned to the hospital, where Oliver was propped up in bed reading the latest newspaper.
Seeing Eric return, Oliver smiled faintly.
"Back already."
Eric grinned sheepishly and hurried forward to hand over the files.
"It's my duty. Besides, Ms. Wilson said these documents were important and needed to get to you right away."
Oliver looked at Tony with satisfaction.
After reviewing the files, he handed them back to Eric, looking weary.
He turned over, his back to Eric, yawned, and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Eric stayed by his side for about half an hour, confirming Oliver was truly asleep. Then he took out his phone, walked over to the files, and photographed them page by page.
With each photo, his expression grew more exhilarated.
He could already picture Amelia cornered with nowhere to turn.
Meanwhile, after work, William was waiting punctually outside the company entrance, holding an enormous bouquet of flowers. He presented them to her in front of everyone.
Employees streaming out the main entrance witnessed the scene and couldn't help but comment.
Everyone whispered about what a perfect match they made.
Amelia looked at William with a sweet smile.
She hadn't expected him to show up with flowers today.
"Nothing urgent at work today? What brings you here in person?" Amelia asked as she slid into the passenger seat of William's car.
William smiled faintly, then turned the steering wheel, merging smoothly into traffic.
"There's something very important today. I had to come personally."
Amelia tilted her head curiously.
William only smiled, saying nothing more. This made Amelia even more curious. What was going on?
After about fifteen minutes, William's car slowly came to a stop.
William got out first, then walked around to open the passenger door and took Amelia's hand to help her out.
"There's something you need to handle personally."
With that, William covered Amelia's eyes with his hands.
