Chapter 187 Changed Her Tune
Chapter 187 Changed Her Tune
Amelia's eyes were covered as William took her hand and led her forward slowly.
"Don't worry, I've got you."
William's voice was gentle and reassuring.
Once Amelia stood still, William released her hand.
When she opened her eyes, she gasped at the sea of white wedding gowns before her.
William snapped his fingers, and staff members immediately converged from all directions, presenting the gowns one by one.
They had agreed to hold an engagement party—her parents were still preparing, and William was making arrangements as well. But Amelia hadn't expected William to be so thoughtful about every detail.
He'd already found the perfect bridal boutique and selected gowns.
Today's surprise was all for her.
Amelia looked down at the dress before her—fabric as soft as silk, as light as snow.
Clearly, William had put tremendous thought into this.
"Want to try it on?" William suggested.
Amelia nodded, and the boutique staff led her to the dressing room.
Just then, her phone rang insistently.
She opened her bag to find Hannah calling.
She answered.
"Ms. Wilson, I have new information. Tony's been in contact with people on the black market. The files were leaked through him."
Hannah's tone was certain.
Amelia had already suspected as much—after all, he was here for revenge.
And the company's classified files were critically important.
"It's fine. Keep watching him."
Want to play games? She'd play along to the end.
When she emerged in the wedding gown, Amelia stood before the mirror, momentarily lost.
Was that really her in the reflection?
Porcelain skin, white veil, white gown—like a princess from a fairy tale.
For a moment, even she felt dazed.
William approached from behind, taking both her hands and lifting them to his lips for a gentle kiss.
"Mrs. Lowe," he murmured playfully.
Amelia smiled.
"You two are so perfect together."
"Absolutely—everyone says you're a match made in heaven, and seeing you today proves it."
"Mr. Lowe treats his wife so well."
The surrounding voices chimed in, their love making everyone envious.
Amelia adored the custom gown William had designed for her. More than that, he'd personally selected every outfit for their future wedding.
This was completely unexpected.
Despite his busy schedule, William had considered everything for her.
On the drive back, Amelia felt a twinge of guilt.
"I haven't even focused much on the engagement, and you're already planning the wedding."
William's lips curved. "Of course I'm proactive about marrying my wife."
She'd always thought Lowe Corporation's Mr. Lowe was untouchable, like a distant moon in the sky. But now that she'd brought him down to earth, she discovered he was simply adorable.
Amelia's eyes shone with happiness. William was always doing things for her—perhaps it was time she did something for him.
William drove Amelia straight to the Lowe family estate. Steven and Grace had prepared an elaborate dinner, waiting for her arrival.
As soon as they entered, Clara stormed up to them.
Her face was full of resentment as she glared at Amelia.
Of course she was upset—she felt Amelia had deceived her.
This woman had promised not to compete for William.
"You'd better be devoted to my William, or I won't let you off," Clara said angrily.
Penelope quickly stepped forward, shooting Clara warning looks.
"Do you know what you're doing? This is your future sister-in-law. Show some respect."
Lance chimed in, "Exactly. We've spoiled you rotten—where are your manners?"
Why had Lance and Penelope suddenly changed their tune so drastically?
They turned to Amelia with smiles.
"Ms. Wilson, Clara was ignorant before and offended you. Please don't hold it against her."
Amelia smiled faintly. "Uncle, Aunt, don't worry. We'll all be family soon. As long as we get along, I won't dwell on the past."
Lance and Penelope visibly relaxed.
After all, Steven and Grace had recently promised to transfer company shares to them, securing their future.
William had also promised that if they behaved, he'd arrange a position for Clara in the company, eventually giving her management responsibilities.
If Clara handled business well, profit-sharing would follow.
Before, they'd been like parasites in the Lowe family, living on meager salaries from Lowe Corporation.
Now everything was different.
And it was all thanks to Amelia.
"Amelia, you should visit more often. We'll be your parents too," Grace said warmly, taking Amelia's hand.
Amelia genuinely liked this kind mother-in-law.
"Aunt, I—"
Before she could finish, Grace shook her head with mock disapproval. "Child, you're about to be engaged. Shouldn't you start calling us properly?"
Amelia immediately understood, blushing slightly. "Mom..."
Grace beamed with joy.
Then, holding Amelia's hand, she glanced toward Steven with meaningful eyes.
Amelia turned, shyly calling out, "Dad."
Steven looked equally satisfied.
This was a business alliance between equals, but more importantly, the couple was perfectly matched.
Grace affectionately pulled Amelia to sit down for dinner.
That evening, Amelia planned to go home, but Grace insisted she stay overnight at the Lowe estate.
The next morning, Amelia rose early—after all, Hannah was waiting for her.
