Chapter 185: Setting a Trap Again

Could it be that Oliver knew William had brought her to the hospital?

Seeing Amelia's silence, Oliver smiled faintly.

"You've never been good at hiding things, even as a child. But it's good—having someone by your side puts my mind at ease."

Amelia's eyes widened with curiosity. She hadn't said a word. How did her father know?

Tony poured a glass of water and handed it over. Worried that Oliver couldn't drink while lying down, he thoughtfully added a straw.

If it weren't for the files proving this man was Eric, given his level of attentiveness, Amelia would find it nearly impossible to connect him with that scumbag.

"The cloud program is launching soon, isn't it?" Oliver asked casually.

Amelia immediately picked up the thread, nodding.

"Someone inside the company leaked the classified files for the cloud program. Now there are countless knockoff versions flooding the market. The final version is still in development—about three days until it's finalized. I'll hold a press conference to formally introduce the product's features and selling points, and the benefits it'll bring them."

Oliver nodded.

Clearly satisfied with his daughter's plan.

"I can't access certain data while I'm stuck in the hospital. Have Tony go back with you and bring those files here. Even though I'm not at the company, I want to help you review everything."

Amelia nodded in agreement. "Then Tony can come with me."

Tony immediately perked up.

"Mr. Wilson, you can count on me."

Oliver smiled. "You're excellent in every way. You just push yourself a bit too hard sometimes."

Tony chuckled.

After leaving the room, Amelia texted William that she was taking Tony back to the office to retrieve some files.

She wouldn't be riding back in his car.

Just then, Amelia didn't notice her misstep. She stumbled forward, but Tony reacted quickly, reaching out to steady her.

Their eyes met, and Amelia was suddenly reminded of a scene from long ago.

The last time she'd nearly fallen, Eric had caught her just like this.

"Ms. Wilson, what are you thinking about?" Tony's voice snapped her back to reality.

Amelia smiled coolly.

Looking at Eric putting on this act right in front of her—when a man wanted revenge, he truly would stop at nothing.

"Thank you for catching me. Otherwise I would've hit the ground."

"Think nothing of it. I'm your employee, after all. It's my duty. No need to dwell on it, Ms. Wilson."

Tony's tone was matter-of-fact.

Amelia said nothing more.

After leaving the hospital, Amelia hailed a car. When they arrived at the company building, she led Tony inside to the department and handed him the finalized version they'd been working on.

Tony confidently promised he'd deliver the files safely.

Amelia watched his retreating figure in silence.

Back at her apartment, it was already 3 a.m. in the dead of night.

She was about to lie down and sleep when the doorbell rang.

She opened the door. The scent of alcohol hit her as a figure stumbled directly into her arms.

Heavy and limp, he collapsed against her.

"William, why did you drink so much?"

Amelia frowned slightly.

She quickly helped him inside.

She'd just settled him on the couch and was about to get up to pour him some water when William wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her down. In one smooth motion, he rolled over and pinned her beneath him on the couch.

"William, what are you doing?"

Amelia blinked up at him, reaching up to cup his face gently, her voice soft.

William's eyes were full of grievance as he stared at her.

"So you're just going to abandon me like that?"

Amelia paused.

She thought back to the hospital—how she'd told William to go home alone because she needed to go back to the office with Tony.

She suddenly realized something.

She'd been neglecting this man's feelings.

"Amelia, I'm starting to think you don't care about me at all!" William's tone was accusatory, like a wronged child demanding justice.

Amelia couldn't help but laugh.

Who would've thought the lofty, aloof CEO William could act this childish?

"You're right. That was my fault." Amelia apologized sincerely, though her tone carried a hint of playfulness.

"I should've considered your feelings. I should've explained that photo to you sooner. And today, I shouldn't have left you alone at the hospital. Next time, I'll discuss things with you first…"

Before Amelia could finish, William leaned in and brushed his lips against hers, light as a butterfly.

Amelia laughed softly, her eyes teasing. "Is one kiss really enough for you?"

William's lips curved upward, his gaze thick with affection. "Of course not."

His voice was low and rough.

Deep into the night, even the moon shyly hid behind the clouds.

The next day.

Amelia woke feeling sore all over. The other side of the bed was empty.

Before leaving, William had left word that he had an early meeting at the office. If she needed anything, she should contact Jason.

Amelia stretched lazily, freshened up, ate breakfast, and headed to the office.

The moment she entered, Hannah walked in behind her.

"Ms. Wilson, I've got intel. Someone's selling the final version of our cloud program."

She'd only handed the file to Tony yesterday, and today it was already on the market.

The man certainly worked fast.

Amelia smiled faintly. "Did you track down the seller?"

Hannah shook her head.

"The asking price is too high. Very few companies can afford it. So it's just been sitting on the black market with no buyers."

After all, this was Wilson Corporation's painstaking creation.

Naturally, it would go to the highest bidder.

"Hannah, find someone. Offer a billion dollars. Buy that classified file back."

Hannah's eyes went wide. She thought she'd misheard.

Was she serious? Spend a billion to buy back their own company's classified information?
