Killian:
“Isn’t it a win-win for both of us?”
I didn’t answer. I wasn’t sure if Mavy was sane and understood what he was talking about. Ronnie would never do that. I needed to see him. Where was he? He was supposed to be here already since he traveled earlier than I did.
Wait… was that the reason why he came here without telling anyone from our pack?
“Why aren’t you asking anything, your highness? I’ll be honored to answer all your questions before I kill you.”
I heaved a deep breath and gave him a feisty look.
“Are you kidding me? Do you think it would be that easy?”
I didn’t know when his poisonous formula would wear off, but I needed a lot of time to figure out what I should do or how I could get in touch with Dax.
‘I swear, once I get back my strength, I am going to tear Mavy apart. I’ll turn him into ashes!’
“Oh, yeah. It would be as easy as one, two, three.”
He looked down on me. And how I wanted to punch that smug face. He was only acting like that because he had paralyzed me.
‘Wait until the effect of the injection wears off. You should pray hard for your safety, a**hole Mavy!’
Mavy continued laying out his plans, “… Ronnie was so cunning. He didn’t tell you about the readings because you’ll only enjoy your triumph. Do you even know what your new readings would be?”
Though I was curious about the new readings—if there was really a new one—I didn’t give him the joy of seeing it in my face. I just let him talk.
“Oh, you seemed like you didn’t want to know it, huh? But I will still let you know.” He turned to Yzabelle’s direction. “Do you know that your mate played a big part in your success?”
I threw a warning glare at him.
“Don’t you ever lay your hand on her!” I roared.
“Oh… but that was one of the three steps that we planned to take, I’m sorry, your highness. I can’t grant your last wish.” He faked his regrets.
“You idiot! Don’t you dare!”
I was trying my best to move my body, but I really couldn’t.
“Oh, I dare! I dare you to stop me from ruining your mate’s corpse. If I wasn’t able to stop her birth, then I would make sure I would stop her from getting back to life!” Mavy’s eyes turned into raging red. I could sense his great determination to do what he said. “I’ll never allow the Remus to bring her back. That will definitely ruin our plan.”
I turned to Sabrina and Alaric, who were crawling on the ground as well. They could not afford to stand, or maybe their legs were numb just like how I felt right now.
“I-I don’t know how he knew. No one knew about it.” Sabrina tried to explain. “It was Corbin who found a way to do it.”
I tried to mind-link Sabrina for a more private conversation but as odd as it may seem, I couldn’t do it.
Fck! Mavy’s poison was too powerful. If he could cut our ability to transform, it wasn’t a surprise that it could also cut even our ability to mind-link.
“And where was Corbin?” I asked. I had no choice but to blurt it out.
“We couldn’t contact him,” Alaric answered, almost breathless. He sounded like he was in great pain. Whatever Mavy did to them, I’ll make sure they will get the justice they deserve.
“And I think that was for the better.” I heard Sabrina again.
And I understood what she meant by that. If Corbin was there too, there was no way he could do what ways he had, to bring Yzabelle back. He must have been paralyzed just like us.
“I can't agree with that. Because Ronnie must be on his way to finish him too.” Mavy grinned evilly.
“You!” Sabrina roared. Her voice was laced with desperation.
“Yeah. What would you expect? Anyone who will prevent our plan will be killed. That’s the reason why I took Eva from your pack. Not just because his parents killed her, but also, she was destined to give birth to the lycan prince’s mate. Four decades ago, Ronnie saw the future of the lycan pack and the Remus. Prince Killian’s destiny had changed. So, he changed his initial plan too.”
“What initial plan were you saying?” I hissed at Mavy.
I felt like my chest was about to explode every time his mouth opened. I didn’t like what I heard from him, but I needed to know it.
“It’s waiting for your death at the hands of your mate. But for an unexplainable reason, it changed. You’ll never be killed by her, but you’ll be mated with her and your power will be enhanced. Because that mate of yours was the moon’s favored luna. And he didn’t like it. So, instead of you having your mate, he instructed me to hinder her birth. But what a lucky b*tch Eva was. She was still able to give birth to your mate.
Now I understand. Ronnie never told me about this new reading. And everything Mavy said was making sense. I can understand now why Mavy was that eager to destroy the Remus pack. Because he and Ronnie were both greedy a**holes!
“Oh, enough of catching up. It was about time to finish the first step.” Mavy growled at us. He then turned to me with great fury. “And that is to finish you, your highness.”
As the moon started to appear, Mavy shifted into his animal form. He wasn’t that scary enough to have that great confidence to plot all these evil things.
It made sense now why he had the audacity to throw a rebellion against us, lycans.
Because Seer Ronnie was behind all this.
I tried all my might to move, to fight against the poison he injected into my body. Mavy was on his way to attack me and I readied myself. He was about to lunge at me when something big and shimmering suddenly banged on his animal. He was sent flying towards the trees. The impact was so strong that Mavy’s animal couldn’t get up.
And I was amazed by the wolf that I was looking at right now.
Oh, no… she wasn’t a wolf. Must be a lycan? Or probably more… because something strange radiated in her.
And she was… so very… very beautiful.
‘Mate!’ I heard Dax trying to get to my forefront.
