Yzabelle:
‘Wake up… wake up, Yzabelle.’
I heard someone calling me.
Who was she?
What just happened?
The last thing I knew, I was in a dark forest with Killian, and I was trying to endure the pain. But there was no pain anymore. All I had was serenity inside me.
‘Wake up. Our mate is in big trouble.’
I heard the powerful voice again.
‘Where are you?’ I answered her with a question.
I could not move. It was very dark. Where was I?
‘And who are you?’ I added.
‘I was inside you, Yzabelle. I am your animal. Milley… my name is Milley, your wolf.’
‘What?!’ I had a lot of questions, but I was too dumbfounded to ask everything out.
‘Come on, wake up. We need to save our mate.’ The voice sounded hasty.
‘Killian. He needed us.’
After hearing the name of the man I deeply loved, I felt my blood rushing through my veins, raging and pulsating.
I was able to open my eyes and found out I was outside a wide lawn. Milley got wild inside me. She wanted to go out.
And from a distance, I saw a gray wolf start to attack Killian. The latter wasn’t moving and it confused me. He was the strongest of all the shapeshifters that I knew. Why was he not moving? He seemed like he was paralyzed or something.
I wasn’t able to analyze everything. I was too worried about Killian and I felt Milley got the same feeling also. She wanted to take over and came to my forefront.
I quickly got up and jumped out of the coffin. And when my feet landed on the ground, I scuttled on all fours, aiming to destroy the animal who was about to lunge at Killian.
Milley took over control. We threw the animal towards the big tree almost a kilometer away from us. The gray wolf couldn’t move, and I was surprised how I did that.
‘No one dared to touch our mate!’ Milley roared.
Just then, I realized how I did it when I saw my reflection from Killian’s surprised eyes.
Enormous wolf with soft, thick sparkling white fur. Streaks of gold in my entire body and even the golden lining around my ears made me shine through the darkness of the night. Or was it that light that came from the moon?
‘Is that you, Milley?’ I asked myself.
‘It was us, Yzabelle. We were one when the moon goddess blessed us. It took a long while and a hard way, but I was happy we finally met,’ I heard Milley in my head.
I smiled to myself. ‘I was so happy to meet you too, Milley, my other self,’
We were about to step towards Killian when I saw his eyes break in fear. Everything was too fast, and I wasn't able to catch up. The next thing I knew, he hurriedly got up and dashed towards me. No… it wasn’t me.
I was stunned at his actions and when I turned around, I realized what had just happened. He transformed into his Lycan form to attack the gray wolf I just threw away a while ago.
As I looked around the whole place, I realized a war was currently happening. I suddenly felt the urge to stop it. I let Milley take over me. The second she roared, an imaginable force quickly took place, killing all the wolves with dark auras. Fire consumed them and turned them into ashes. It was satisfying. I wasn’t sure how we did that, but it felt just right. It felt natural.
And finally, I heard peace around. No more animal growling. No more innocents crying. The place turned to pindrop silence.
I saw Sabrina was too stunned to move and so was Alaric. They seemed to be busy watching me in awe. Everyone was looking at me in so full admiration.
‘Mate!’ I heard from behind me.
And when we turned around, we saw a deep pair of blue eyes with golden specks around them. His fiery eyes were glowing in the dark. And his immaculate black fur was glistening against the dark night.
‘It’s me, Dax. And what about you?’ We heard him in my head.
‘Milley… my name is Milley.’ My wolf answered.
He stepped towards me and moved his head to curl on Milley’s neck. I enjoyed the way he seemed to sniff my scent. And how I loved his scent too.
He was so big. I thought Milley was already big, considering that she was bigger than the gray wolf, but I found out he was bigger than Milley.
‘You are so beautiful, Milley,’ his eyes were staring back at us, he seemed he could not get enough of just watching.
He suddenly transformed into his human form. And there he goes. Killian was standing in front of us. It seemed Dax gave him the chance to appreciate us.
‘I’ve been waiting for you for so long, my Luna. What took you so long?’ Killian was still in my head.
‘It’s your turn, Yzabelle…’ I heard Milley.
I felt my body starting to change too. I was transforming back to my human form.
In one swift movement, Killian grabbed me and enveloped me in his warm big arms, against his wide chest. I could feel an animalistic desire awakened inside me. A powerful pull suddenly kicked in. I could see a glowing string of red energy revolving around us. That must be the matebond. A gift from the goddess. I didn’t know how I was able to see it. But I was happy I did.
Killian was breathless when he let me go and so did I.
Someone handed us something to cover ourselves. We were busy dressing up when I realized something was cut from me… from my very self, in my innermost. It was always there before, but now, it is gone.
‘Corbin!’
I quickly turned to Sabrina when I realized it was Corbin who had been cut away from me.
“Where is Corbin?” I asked, confused and worried.
What else would cut me from my other mate? Was it because the weight of my feelings for Killian was greater than anything and anyone else?
Without warning, Sabrina broke into tears. My fear worsened. Something bad might have happened to Corbin.
“What is it, Sabrina? Why are you crying?” I anxiously asked.
“Corbin, my sweet boy… I guessed he was dead.” Sabrina broke out.
“I felt it too. The moment you jumped out of your coffin, I felt Corbin was gone. His link was gone. He was not with us anymore.” Alaric sadly said.
I saw Matteo from a distance. He was kneeling on the ground, staring into nothing.
“H-He was gone?” I uttered the words slowly as if they didn’t want to come out of my lips. “No…”
It could not be possible. How did it happen? Why did it happen?
I might not have felt a great feeling as much as I felt with Killian, but Corbin was still my mate. He still managed to create a great impact on me. And knowing he was gone, an unexplainable pain drew through my chest.
I was yet to process everything when I felt Killian step away. I quickly grabbed his arm.
“Where are you going?”
I was certain the fear was evident in my eyes. I just reunited with him. And Corbin was gone. I could not afford to lose him either.
“Stay here, I need to finish something.”
He didn’t give me a chance to ask. After giving me a quick kiss on the lips, he immediately went for a run.
What was going on?
