Killian:
“What the heck are you talking about, you, dickhead?” I roared.
I tried to attack him, but I was starting to feel weak. I didn’t really understand what just happened, but I was certain it had to do with the thing he injected me.
As far as I knew, Mavy had a major and a specialty in biochemistry. He must have formulated something to control me. That must be the reason why Sabrina couldn’t transform and was feeling weak too.
I looked around, and I saw Yzabelle, lying beautifully in the heart of the lawn, not so far from us. What was her body doing here?
“D*ckhead you were saying? That was supposed to be your nickname, dumb prince.” Mavy spit.
He proudly walked towards me. I couldn’t understand why he had the guts to act this way.
“What did you do to us?!” I roared angrily.
He stopped in front of me, smirking. “Well, the fluid in this thing,” Mavy turned to his syringe. “...will temporarily prevent you from using your skills. It could even fend off your animal for a little while.”
He threw away the syringe and continued approaching me.
“Do you even know how long it took me to formulate this poison?”
I didn’t answer. And I didn’t care. What I was more concerned about was, why was he doing all this? And why Remus?
The poison he injected me seemed to have its full effect. I felt weaker as the seconds passed. It seemed my strength was starting to drain away from me, my knees bent over, and I fell to the ground just like Sabrina and Alaric.
The other Remus soldiers kept on fighting to defend their pack. Women and children were wailing from different directions. Some areas were burning and some were practically turned to ashes.
I just couldn’t believe how Mavy was able to do this. And where did he get the courage to do all this?
“You’ll surely pay for all of this, Mavy!” I growled at him.
To my great anger, he kicked me to my side. I refused to wince at the pain it brought me. I would never give him the pleasure of hearing it.
‘Dax! Where the hell are you?!’
But I could not get in touch with him.
I suddenly heard Mavy’s mocking laughter.
“I doubt it, your highness,” his tone laced with insults. “Did you really think the one behind all this would be on your side?”
I hissed under my breath. What did he mean by that?
“Oh! I guess you still don’t have any clue what was going on.” He kicked me again.
I tried to get up but I could not. His formula was one heck of a potent way to disable shapeshifters like us. Why the hell weren't we alarmed by this impudent act of his?
And who the hell was behind all this? Who the heck was the traitor that led a rebellion?
“Well, since I was going to finish you anyway, let me do the honor to tell you who’s my partner in crime. Oh, I’ll give you a hint. He was so close to you. You and your family even believed everything he said because he was gifted.”
Gifted? Everyone in my family was gifted. Who the hell was he talking about?
Mavy twitched his eyebrows. “You still don’t get it? Oh well, here’s another one. The king relied on every reading he had.”
Readings?
I gritted my teeth in great anger.
The only person I knew who had the gift of reading someone else's future was Seer Ronnie—my father’s half-brother.
My eyes were burning with anger.
No, it could not be!
How would I know if he was telling the truth? Even though the king and Seer Ronnie were half-brothers, they never came into dispute. They may not be the best of friends, but I know they had proper respect for each other.
It could not be. He was just bluffing.
“Stop it, Mavy. You’re just making things worse for you. Once the king finds out what you did—”
“Oh, it would never happen. Once I finish you and destroy your mate’s body, Ronnie will do his part to finish your father, the king. And he will be the new king.”
“What?!”
I was furious to hear that. What was he talking about?
“Seer Ronnie would never do that!” I roared at him despite the weakness of my body.
I glanced in Yzabelle’s direction. Why did he have to ruin Yzabelle’s body when she was already dead?
“You really don’t have any idea, poor lycan prince.”
“Don’t you know that your readings have changed from four decades ago? And just last night, he saw another reading about you. Surely Ronnie would never tell you. It would hinder plans that we’d been cooking for such a long time.”
Ugh!
I wasn’t sure if I should believe him. Everything he said wasn’t making any sense. Why would Seer Ronnie hide it if he really had a new reading about me?
Wait… four decades ago?
It was the time when I came back from time traveling. Could it be possible that he knew?
No, no one knew about my travel aside from the king and my beta.
“Looking so confused, huh? Aren’t you curious about our great plan?” he mockingly asked.
“What plan?” I was buying time while trying to figure things out.
If it was true that Seer Ronnie had new readings about my fate, then, it must be because I changed the future. I was supposed to be killed by my mate. But what happened was a total opposite.
I killed my mate and my supposed luna! Was that why Seer Ronnie got a new fate reading?
I glanced at my beautiful mate’s body, lying in her coffin.
Could it be…
“Well, Seer Ronnie and I agreed to take over the whole government. He is going to be the lycan king, and I am going to be the king of all the alpha werewolves. And since we were going to be both kings, he'd separate lycans from werewolves. It would be two different realms. He’ll never have any say in my governance, unless I do something that will affect his governance.” He followed that with annoying laughter. He even pressed his foot harder on my neck. I tried to let go but I couldn’t.
I hated it that my body turned weak! I had this intense feeling of killing him right now. But I could not move, damn it!
Argh!
