Chapter 65
*LUNA*
At the sound of the triumphant announcing Alpha Kayden's arrival, part of me was overjoyed while another part of me was terrified, Rebekah stood up putting some distance between us. When I come to think of it, I couldn't deny the fact that she wanted to help me despite the fact that I lied and kept the truth from her. Honestly I didn't deserve her after what I did.
Few minutes later Kayden strode into the court room with his council members behind me, Damon and Darren were among the crowd too. I risk looking up and around the room, but he was too busy listening to what one of his councils member was saying until he seat down the throne, the room was quiet and without looking I could feel several eyes burning holes in every part of my body. Scarlet had also been woken up by the loud noise of the triumphant.
"Anything I have missed?" I heard him ask Hunter in a tired voice.
"A recent sad but confusing events happened recently, I knew it would be best if you judge the matter and decide to do whatever you want to the culprits" He started waiting for Kayden to give him the go ahead to continue.
"I think I shall have to pass this one down, All I need is enough rest for a while, if you don't want to pass the judgement, hand it over to Darren" He responded coursing my heart to drop in my stomach in fear, did he not see me or he choose to ignore it? Even if he saw me there was no guarantee that he would believe I didn't kill Sophie, after all she was one of his mistress if not favorite. That's correct, I don't trust or believe people who think I'm the Alpha's favourite, Scarlet even went as far as lying to me.
"We cannot allow him to handle the case over to someone else. Do something" Scarlet snarled softly at me in order not to attract attention to herself, I ignored her completing acting like I didn't hear what she was on about.
My head jerked in surprise as Rebekah stepped forward, fear froze me for a second. I opened my mouth to stop her but nothing happened. Is she trying to take the blame? I can't let her do that! I cried I inwardly as I struggle to get out only to be reminded of my current situation, my wrist were tied to my legs from behind. I was kneeling down and that was to make sure I didn't bend, squat or even stand up.
"I promise you Alpha, she did not do it. Luna would never hurt another human being, you have to trust me" She said, and I let out the breath I was holding. Her word didn't only catch Alpha Kayden's surprise but his councils as well.
"Rebekah!" Darren scolded holding her back, I couldn't hate him at this point even if I wanted to. Rebekah happened to be his mate so it's only naturally he would try and protect her at all cost. He cares about her.
"What are you talking about?" Kayden demanded and one would actually think he cares a great deal about what happened to me.
"Over there" Rebekah gestured towards where I kneeled down with Scarlet. "She has been accused with killing one of your mistress, Sophia because she was found in the pool of her own blood outside Luna's bedroom. She had been on punishment since yesterday and will be on it until the day you were supposed to arrive to pass their judgement" She explained.
I looked up in time to find Kayden watching me, an unreadable expression on his face. The councils began to murmur and I bowed my head again wishing there was a way for me to shut them all up.
"I told you to let me handle this!" Darren growled at her angrily.
"Handle it? How has that been working since yesterday? You may not care for her but I do. She is my friend! What if it was Beta Damon in this position would you have stand by and let him be accused of something he didn't do?" Rebekah growled back.
"What in the world has been going on around here" One of Kayden councils interrupted.
"Enough! All of you out! Out right this instance" Kayden's growl louder than the rest of them, everyone begin to scurried out of the room expect the court guards who stood firmly in their position. After everyone left, he instructed us the guards to freed us out of our normal chains.
"Also, all of you get out" He ordered Scarlet and the rest of the guards, as each person left so did my heart beat until I was certain I would pass out from fear. Closing my eyes briefly I prayed he listened to what I have to say.
"Luna, I want you to stand up on your feet" This order was obviously directed at me so I stood up slowly, still looking down at my bear fit. When his hand reached out to touch me, I flinched before relaxing as he brush a lock of hair away from my face. No words were spoken as he spin me around, examining all the wounds that were inflicted on me.
"Tell me what happen" This time around, his voice was calm.
"I don't know, I finished having a talk with Scarlet and went to my room. I was only there for a few minutes before I heard a commotion outside my room. Sophia was laying down there and everyone said I killed her" I burst into tears before I could stop myself. I hadn't cried since I had been accused of killing her but the thought of Alpha Kayden not believing me was tearing me apart. What does it matter anyway? The councils want me to help them kill him so it shouldn't matter what he thinks of me right?
Maybe I'm only reacting this way because I was afraid of dying and never getting my freedom. Nothing makes sense anymore and I wanted to scream in frustration, I jerked away from my thought as he pulled me towards him, in the next second his lips captured mine in a slow, passionate kiss that made me melt.
When he pulled away few minutes later, I was panting and trying to catch my breath. "I will handle this. Wait for me in my bed chambers" He instructed as we pull apart completed, I nodded before hurrying out of the court. Rebekah and Scarlet were waiting outside, Scarlet had guards position around her.
"I knew he would never let them hurt you" Rebekah smiled pulling me into a hug, I stare into the distance as I untangled myself away from her. This wasn't going to be easy, everyone believed I kill Jeremy without any prove but now they had proof that I did it even if I didn't.
They weren't going to let this go. I couldn't help but wondered what Alpha Kayden had in mind.
