Chapter 64

*LUNA*

Fortunately, Scarlet and I weren't put in the same dungeon cell instead our cells were side by side, there wasn't much I could have done even if we were in the same cell, I was bleeding, in pain and my wolf was howling in pain. My skin felt like it was on fire and despite lying down on the cold floor, it didn't help.

I thought of shifting to keep the pain at bay but I have never shifted on a normal day before, back at my pack, slaves were only allowed to shift on the full moon, plus I couldn't shift the pain was too much attempting to shift will just result to permanent damage if not death. They knew what they were doing.

"This is all your fault" I heard Scarlet hissed at me from her own side of the cell.

Not believing she was blaming me for this, I crawled away from the view of everyone, hiding behind the shadows. "You killed Sophia and blamed it on me! Was I suppose to stand there and let you accuse me of something I didn't do? I brought this upon myself, that is one thing I cannot blame you for" I snarled at her, wincing as the chain dig into my wrist.

"Me?" She sounded surprised. "You really think I killed Sophia? Why the bloody hell would I do that? She is older meaning she is more of an experienced Omega than me. I cannot kill her even if I want to" She reported, I almost agreed with her but I decided against it, telling myself I wouldn't trust her or give her the chance to get into my head. I mean if she didn't kill Sophia then who else did?

"Luna?" Rebekah cried interrupting the angry accusations going back and forth between Scarlet and I. Standing in front of my cell and making sure she isn't in contact with the sliver bar, she waited until I came to view. "How did this happen? Is it true that Sophia is dead?" She inquired pausing for me to reply her.

"I don't know what is going on, Sophia was found bleeding in front of my bedroom door, I...don't want to die, please Rebekah help. It's hurt so much" I pleaded falling to the ground.

"I will talk to Darren, he will get you out of here" She promised before hurrying away. Apart from the sound of my heavy breathing, I could hear Scarlet cries from the other side, I forgot my own dilemma in that moment as I pitied her. Recalling what she said, I couldn't help but wondered if she was telling the truth meaning someone killed Sophia, someone who wanted to frame me? But why? I crawled back towards the wall, resting my back on it to steady my breath.

Minutes turned into hours and there was no sign of Rebekah, I was getting more weaker by the second, keeping my eyes open was becoming a much harder job. Scarlet had stopped crying over an hour ago making me think she had passed out or something worse.

Just when I thought I would died from it, my cell opened, Rebekah stood behind the guard that untied me. I almost wept with relief to be out of the chains. Scarlet too was also freed and we were taken to the court. Kneeling in front of the high throne with no one present, I hated the fact that I thought about Alpha Kayden and how much I missed him. Knowing that before he returns there is a possibility of me dying course me to react in an odd funny way.

"I managed to get her out of the cell Bekah but I'm afraid I cannot do anything about this" I heard Darren whispered to Rebekah behind me.

Damon was nowhere to be found, a few minutes later everyone begin to leave, only Rebekah and Darren stayed behind. "You both have been charged of murder" Darren said cutting into the silence in the room. "Since Alpha Kayden is not around, the duty falls on Beta Damon to carry out your punishment. You are ordered to stay in the court until your judgement is passed" He concluded before walking away, I blink back the tears in my eyes as Rebekah kneeled in front of me.

"I'm sorry" She whispered coursing the word I wanted to say to her died down my throat, I frowned uncertainly at her wondering what she was talking about. "I killed Sophia" I darted a look in Scarlet's direction to see she had passed out from the pain of being chained to a sliver for so long.

"What do you mean?" The frown on my face deepened. "Are you trying to blame yourself for something... Wait, you think I did it so you are trying to take the blame for me?" I jerked my hand away from hers not believing she would believe the rest. If Rebekah also believed that I in fact killed Sophia then I was good as dead. "Please leave me alone"

"No, no!" She shook her head desperately. "I'm not trying to take the blame. The truth is, I heard what you and Scarlet were talking about. I know you work for the councils in exchange for your freedom" She declared making my eyes go wide with shock. "I also know Sophia heard you talking to your maid about leaving so I went to talk to Sophia. I only went there to talk to her, I taunted her about the fact that Alphas love you and everything, she got angry and attacked me. I left her bleeding on the floor of her room. I had no idea that she died or she was outside your bedroom".

It took a few minutes for me to finally process her words. I stared at her in stunned silence, closing my eyes I let the tears rolled down my face. Nothing matters anymore, I can't let Rebekah take the blame. She had a mate, she had freedom something I would never heard. "Everything will be okay" I reassured her, letting out a breath when she nodded her head in agreement.

"As soon as I say the truth" She added.

"No! You will do no such thing! Rebekah, you can't say anything" I pleaded grabbing her hand, I opened my mouth to convince her further but was interrupted by the loud triumphant sound announcing the arrival of Alpha Kayden!.
