Chapter 126

Chapter 126

"Mr. Finnegan Schmidt is in critical condition right now. The family should prepare themselves mentally as soon as possible. Also, there's something about Mr. Finnegan Schmidt's body that seems..."

The doctor stopped mid-sentence when he saw Zander signal him to halt.

"Family members, please come with me. There are some details I need to discuss with you."

Ophelia and Zander went together. Cameron was about to follow when Blake stopped him just in time.

"Wait, Mr. Cameron Schmidt, didn't you say you wanted to talk about cooperation? I think now is a good time."

Cameron was confused. Blake was the one who said earlier that now wasn't the time to discuss cooperation, and now he was the one saying they could talk about it.

But as long as he could cooperate with Blake, he didn't care either way.

"I see there's a café downstairs. Should we go there?" Cameron said.

Blake nodded.

In the doctor's office, Ophelia and Zander sat down together.

The doctor looked very worried. "Actually, I called you both here because..."

"Doctor, we already know. My father has been poisoned, so just tell us directly. What are the chances of curing my father?"

After she finished speaking, the doctor looked shocked. "I'm sorry, Mr. Zander  Schmidt. I can only say it's extremely difficult."

Ophelia and Zander exchanged glances.

"Is there really no possibility at all?"

The doctor shook his head. "Unless we find the antidote, but I imagine whoever poisoned him won't easily give it up."

The doctor had analyzed the poison in Finnegan's body and believed that whoever poisoned him must hate Finnegan deeply to use such a potent toxin.

Ophelia asked through gritted teeth, "This damn poisoner, can you confirm who it is now?"

Zander nodded. "The moment I saw Cameron, I was pretty sure. Besides Cameron, no one else would have the guts to do this."

When the doctor heard Cameron's name, his hand trembled involuntarily.

"Doctor, whatever you hear today, don't tell anyone."

"I understand, don't worry."

Zander and Ophelia went to the ward.

Seeing Finnegan lying in bed looking haggard, Ophelia felt terrible.

She sat by the bed and glanced at the machine at the bedside.

"The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet. He's still unconscious." Zander reminded her, and Ophelia nodded.

"Is it because of me?" She asked.

Zander paused what he was doing. "What?"

"Is he lying here now because of me?"

"What are you thinking? Ophelia, don't think like that. Dad was actually happiest when he found you."

"Really?"

Zander looked at Ophelia's profile, feeling somewhat anxious. "You don't need to do anything, just stay by Dad 's side."

Ophelia didn't want Zander to worry, so she pretended to agree.

But she had already made up her mind.

After leaving the ward, she immediately went to Debra's house.

At that moment, Debra was chatting with Isla and Mia. When they saw Ophelia arrive, they all rushed over.

"Ms. Hayes, you're finally here! Are you okay?"

Ophelia reassured Isla and Mia, then looked at Debra. "I need your help."

"Tell me."

"Come with me to kidnap Cameron."

When Debra heard Cameron's name, she paused for a moment, then agreed without any hesitation. "Okay, when?"

"Now."

Ophelia and Debra changed clothes and drove to a road Cameron had to take on his way home.

Debra parked the car by the roadside and rolled down the window. "Based on what I know about Cameron, he's cowardly and lustful. So if we want to make a move on him, all we need is a little bit of feminine charm."

Ophelia frowned. "I'm sorry for making you seduce Cameron."

"What are you saying? We're friends. This is nothing."

Ophelia smiled and watched Debra get out of the car. Soon after, Cameron's car passed by.

When he saw Debra, he had his driver stop. "What's a beautiful lady like you doing here?"

Debra gave him a seductive look and traced circles on Cameron's arm with her finger. "I'm here waiting for you, of course."

"You know me?"

"Of course, who doesn't know the famous Mr. Schmidt? But you definitely don't know me."

Cameron was completely captivated by Debra's every move. "Good, we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other. Get in the car first."

Debra smiled and turned around, giving Ophelia a look.

Ophelia realized Debra had succeeded and drove down the mountain.

Then she waited at the foot of the mountain.

After what seemed like forever, Debra's phone rang.

Ophelia quickly answered, but unexpectedly, it was Cameron's voice on the other end. "I don't care who you are. Get to my villa right now. Otherwise, this woman will be pushed into the sea to feed the fish."

Ophelia's heart jumped.

Debra had failed.

She hadn't expected that besides being lustful, Cameron was also very cautious.

But that made sense; only someone like that would fit his position.

After realizing this, Ophelia immediately changed her voice. "If you dare touch a hair on Debra's head, I'll kill you."

"Miss, such big talk. I'm at the villa, waiting for you to come."

Ophelia hung up and immediately called Blake. "Blake, Debra was taken by Cameron."

When Blake heard this, he immediately spoke up. "This is reckless! Who told you two to approach Cameron? That man is not as simple as he appears on the surface!"

"What do we do now?"

Blake frowned. "Where are you now? Come back immediately, and we'll discuss this together."

After Ophelia returned to Pine Ridge Estate, she met with Blake. "Debra was captured by him."

"I already know. Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to Debra. But you need to take care of yourself too."

Ophelia nodded absentmindedly.

Seeing this, Blake grabbed Ophelia's chin. "Did you hear what I said?"

Ophelia quickly nodded. "I know, just think of something fast."

Only then was Blake satisfied. He brought Ophelia upstairs and forced her to rest. "Leave the rest to me."

Ophelia was about to say something when she suddenly smelled a very sweet scent, then quickly fell asleep.

Blake looked at Ophelia on the bed and smiled slightly. "Sleep well, baby."

He kissed Ophelia's forehead and left the room.

Downstairs, Lucas had already obtained surveillance footage from Cameron's villa.

In the video, Debra was restrained by chains.

Her face looked haggard.

Cameron stood not far away with an evil smile on his face, holding a whip in his hand.

"I heard your name is Debra, and you used to be at Oak Haven Retreat?"

Debra looked up at Cameron and spat. "You don't deserve to say my name. Today I fell into your hands; that's just my bad luck, you bastard."

When Cameron heard this, the smile on his face gradually disappeared.

He suddenly swung the whip in his hand.
