Chapter 192 I'll Take You to a Place

Chapter 192 I'll Take You to a Place

Olivia knew Cameron was angry now, and his words shouldn't be taken seriously. She first called the doctor to come check on Cameron, then opened the food she'd brought.

"Eat first, then take your medicine."

"Of course, if you don't care about your own health, you can keep sulking here right now."

Cameron shot Olivia a resentful glance and said mockingly, "That's right. If I don't care about my own health, no one else will feel sorry for me."

Recognizing the dig, Olivia pretended not to understand and served him some food.

Seeing this, Cameron picked up his utensils.

"Did you make this?"

"No," Olivia answered honestly.

But Cameron didn't believe her and thought Olivia had cooked for him.

Olivia added, "I just had dinner with Jared, then got this packed for you. The restaurant is a Michelin three-star, better than my cooking."

Learning that Olivia had dinner with Jared, Cameron immediately lost his appetite.

But Olivia kept serving him food.

He had no choice but to keep eating.

"Why were you having dinner with him?"

"That's my business," Olivia said flatly.

Cameron was left speechless, looking frustrated but helpless. "I just think that since you work at the Foster Group, you should keep some distance from Jared to avoid people getting the wrong idea."

Olivia slowly took a sip of water.

"Only people with dirty minds see everything as dirty."

Although Olivia didn't name names, Cameron felt he was being criticized, too, and lost his appetite again.

Olivia served Cameron food again. "Try this dish. I just tasted it, and it's pretty good. I chose it based on your taste, you should like it."

Cameron perked up a bit, his mood improving.

He eagerly took a bite. "Indeed, it tastes great."

"Of course, your beef stew is still better."

Cameron thought praising Olivia's cooking would make her happy, but instead, she gave him a withering look. "Even if my beef stew is good, I won't make it specially for you just because you said that, because I'm not your personal chef."

"If Sophie hadn't said she wanted beef stew yesterday, I wouldn't have made it."

"After I made it, she got tired of it, so I brought it to you rather than waste it."

In fact, Olivia had made the beef stew on a whim, not quite as she described.

Learning that the beef stew he ate was Sophie's leftovers hurt Cameron, but he quickly accepted it. After all, compared to Sophie, Sophie was definitely more important.

He said nothing and ate quietly.

Olivia thought her words would anger Cameron and was surprised by his reaction.

Seeing Cameron looking so down, she felt a bit regretful about what she'd just said.

But what was said was said.

Both fell silent.

After Cameron finished eating, Olivia brought up Justin. "I think what Jared said makes sense. As a suspect, Justin should cooperate with the police investigation right away, shouldn't he?"

Cameron frowned.

"You told Jared Foster about this?"

Hearing Cameron use Jared's full name didn't surprise Olivia, as Cameron sometimes called him that way.

What was strange was how Jared had used Cameron's full name earlier.

Seeing Olivia's silence, Cameron stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. "So now you don't trust me? You trust Jared."

"Makes sense. Ever since you left the Hayes family, you've been very close to Jared, even planning a... fake death. Shows how much you trust him."

"I really don't know who your husband is supposed to be."

Olivia glared at Cameron's back with displeasure.

If not for Justin, she would have left already. Actually, she wouldn't have come here at all.

"It's not about who I trust more. According to normal logic, shouldn't Justin turn himself in voluntarily?"

"Has the police issued a warrant for Justin yet?" Cameron asked back.

Olivia paused. It seemed the police hadn't issued a warrant for Justin yet. She shook her head. "Why not?"

Cameron turned around. In the dim light, his features looked somewhat stern. "The police haven't issued a warrant, which means there's insufficient evidence. Justin is a suspect, but there's no solid evidence proving he's the killer. If he rashly turns himself in now and gets exploited by someone with ulterior motives, things could get very complicated."

After hearing Cameron's explanation, Olivia found it equally reasonable.

For a moment, she didn't know who to trust.

Cameron walked over and sat beside her.

He tentatively reached out and gently held Olivia's hand, saying softly, "Let's wait for further police investigation results. Meanwhile, I'll also send people to investigate and see if we can find any new leads."

"Don't worry, I absolutely won't let anything happen to Justin."

Olivia felt Cameron holding her hand, her attention somewhat diverted. She was certain she didn't feel any disgust, but why had she felt so repulsed when Jared merely touched the back of her hand earlier?

She quickly figured out the reason.

No matter what Cameron was like now, she had once shared such beautiful intimacy with him. Jared naturally couldn't compare.

Seeing that Olivia didn't pull her hand away, Cameron felt relieved.

"It's getting late. Let me take you home."

"Aren't you still busy?" Olivia came back to herself and subtly withdrew her hand. "You do your work. Jared left a driver for me downstairs."

"No, I'll take you." Cameron was very insistent.

Olivia didn't care either way and let Cameron take her.

Downstairs, she explained to Jared's driver, then got in Cameron's car.

"If you're really busy with work, you can put Justin's matter aside for now."

Based on what Cameron said, Olivia felt Justin was safe for now. Even if he wasn't hiding at Charlotte's place, it probably wouldn't be a big problem.

She didn't want to have to bring Cameron food again tomorrow.

"It's fine, I can handle both." Cameron steered with one hand. "Tomorrow's the weekend. Let me take you somewhere."

"No." Olivia refused without thinking. "I've taken on quite a few projects recently, so I need to get back to work. I've rested enough these past few days."

She'd taken on the Hayes Group project but hadn't finished it yet.

But Cameron changed routes on his own. "You'll definitely like it, and it'll help you focus on your work, and you'll be much more productive."

"Anyway, just close your eyes and rest for a bit now."

"When you open your eyes, we'll be there."

With Cameron controlling the steering wheel, Olivia had no choice but to go along, even if she didn't want to.

She was also afraid that opposing too strongly would make Cameron suspicious.

An hour later, they arrived at their destination.

It was a villa built in the forest, surrounded by peace and quiet, with only occasional bird songs, like a hidden retreat. The villa had a wooden exterior that looked rustic yet warm, surrounded by all kinds of flowers and plants that gave off a faint fragrance in the moonlight.

With just one glance, Olivia fell in love with the place.
