Chapter 185: A Good Man at Home

Chapter 185: A Good Man at Home

"What's going on? Who's bullying my child!"

The troublemaker's parent, seeing the crowd gathered here, had no choice but to show up, looking all fierce. "You're all adults, and you have the nerve to argue with my son?"

Now that he had backup, the troublemaker got up and ran to his parents' side.

He pointed at Olivia and Cameron. "They're the ones bullying me! They were going to hit me, too. Mom, Dad, you need to teach them a good lesson!"

Everyone present knew what had actually happened and thought the troublemaker had gone too far.

Even those who had initially helped the troublemaker felt embarrassed.

Clearly, they had all gotten it wrong.

To make up for their guilt, they all stepped forward to explain to Olivia and Cameron. "It was your child pushing the shopping cart around recklessly, and he almost crashed into them. They didn't even do anything to your kid, so how can you turn around and blame them?"

"That's right, you're the child's parents. You should apologize to them first!"

Olivia thought this would resolve things easily—just an apology would do.

However, the troublemaker's parents' faces darkened. Not only did they continue to blame Olivia and Cameron, but even the bystanders who tried to help got caught in their wrath.

"Isn't she standing here just fine?"

"Since nothing happened, what's there to fuss about?"

"Don't any of you have kids at home? Don't you have any compassion for children?"

"My child isn't as rude as yours." Someone stepped out from the crowd. "It's the parents' responsibility when children lack proper upbringing. Now you're still making excuses for him—are you trying to raise a murderer?"

Things escalated quickly.

But the troublemaker's parents still didn't care, continuing to think that Olivia and the others were deliberately blowing this out of proportion. "Alright, it's not that serious. You're just wasting our time."

"Let's go, no point arguing with them."

Just then, the supermarket manager arrived in time. Seeing the troublemaker's father, he quickly greeted him respectfully. "Oh, it's Mr. Gilbert Harvey. May I ask what happened?"

Seeing someone recognize him, Gilbert became even more arrogant.

"What else could it be? Some stupid people insist on making a fuss with me."

"You call yourselves a high-end supermarket, so why do you let these people in? I think you should screen your customers better, so they don't drag down your supermarket's image."

Cameron's expression grew stern. He walked to Olivia's side and gently shook his head.

"So you're going to insist on not admitting your mistake?"

"Whether it's your fault or Mr. Harvey's family's fault, I can still tell the difference!" The manager quickly raised his voice, trying to show off.

The next second, Gilbert panicked, his voice trembling. "Mr. Hayes! How come you're..."

Cameron ignored Gilbert and took out his phone, pressing a few buttons.

Soon, Gilbert received a call that left him completely desperate. He went ashen-faced. "The partnership with the Hayes Group is canceled? Canceled..."

Hearing this, Olivia understood what was happening.

But she wasn't going to plead for this troublemaker's father.

It was their own fault to begin with. Regretting it now was too late.

She glanced at Cameron, then turned and continued pushing the shopping cart forward.

Sophie quickly followed, lowering her voice. "Olivia, I have to say, money and power really are the best things in this world. No wonder so many people love them."

Olivia took Sophie's words to heart.

Who doesn't want to be at the top of the pyramid?

But most people can only become stepping stones for those at the top, or they can't even become stepping stones—they can only be little pebbles on the ground.

"Mr. Hayes, Mr. Hayes, please give me a chance!"

"It's my fault, I didn't teach my child properly!"

Behind them came Gilbert's pleas for mercy, along with the child's wailing after being hit, but none of this made Olivia turn back. She only quickened her pace to leave.

Cameron said coldly, "Move aside immediately, or it won't just be about canceling the partnership."

At those words, Gilbert's whole body stiffened, and he didn't dare say another word.

Cameron quickly caught up with Olivia. "Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"

"No." Olivia didn't even look at Cameron, focusing instead on selecting fresh ingredients. The fridge at home was basically empty.

Seeing that Olivia didn't want to talk to him, Cameron sighed inwardly, but he still followed closely behind.

Sophie sneaked a few glances but didn't say anything.

When Olivia finished shopping and went to pay, Cameron came over again. He was the first to hand over his card. "You and Ms. Guest go to the car first. I'll carry the things."

Without realizing it, Olivia had bought a lot of stuff—three big bags in total.

She agreed and pulled Sophie outside.

Sophie was confused. "Olivia, don't you want to divorce him? Why are you letting him pay and drive us back now?"

"Since he wants to pay, let him." Olivia didn't care. Since Cameron liked doing it, he could do whatever he wanted.

So the two of them went to sit in the car.

After a while, Olivia saw through the car window a tall, handsome figure carrying three big bags of groceries out of the supermarket, attracting many passersby's attention.

Some people were even taking photos with their phones.

"Oh my god, what a great family man! He even goes to the supermarket to buy groceries himself!"

"His wife must be so lucky!"

"I wonder which woman is so lucky."

Sitting in the car, Olivia couldn't help but roll her eyes when she heard these comments. What do they mean by "goes to the supermarket himself"? What's so unusual about men doing grocery shopping?

She completely disagreed.

After Cameron put everything away, he sat in the driver's seat and started the car.

On the road, Cameron observed Olivia's expression through the rearview mirror, but Olivia basically had no expression. She just sat there, looking at the scenery outside the window.

This left him unable to find opportunities to speak several times, so he could only remain silent.

After arriving home, Olivia opened the door first and let Sophie in. She glanced at Cameron. "Just put the things in the kitchen."

Cameron thought Olivia was letting him into the house.

Little did he know that Olivia was just treating Cameron as a delivery person. After Cameron brought everything in, she handed him a glass of water as a thank you.

Cameron happily accepted it.

He thought he could stay for dinner or something.

Instead, Olivia told him to take out the trash on his way out.

Cameron paused. "Take out the trash now?"

"If you don't want to, that's fine. I'll have Justin do it later. Just remember to close the door when you leave." Olivia put the ingredients in the fridge one by one, not even bothering to look at Cameron.

Cameron understood what Olivia meant.

He sighed helplessly. "Olivia, can we sit down and have a proper talk?"

Olivia's eyes flickered.

Just as she was willing to have a proper conversation with Cameron, he suddenly received a call from Jennifer. Jennifer had an accident and was currently being rushed to the emergency room.

His face darkened. "The baby might not make it?"
