Chapter 734

Chapter 734

"I won't let Elodie off the hook when the time comes."

Raymond was stunned. He had been about to say they could finally be together without any reservations, but he never expected Margaret to say that.

But then again, why should Margaret let Elodie off the hook?

Back then, Elodie had hurt Margaret so deeply that her life was turned upside down. There was no way Margaret could let that go.

"Maggie, you gotta trust me. When the truth comes out, I won't let Elodie off the hook either."

Margaret snorted, glaring at Raymond.

"Raymond, come on. Elodie's your only family now. How could you turn against her for me? If you really believed my parents were innocent back then, how could you kick me out of the Seymour family?"

Margaret had never understood why, when she was still in the Seymour family, trying her best to make amends, Raymond and Elodie had never forgiven her.

At that time, she even believed her parents were guilty and had no intention of investigating the matter. It wasn't until after she was kicked out of the Seymour family that she decided to look into it.

Thankfully, she hadn't given up on the idea all these years; otherwise, her parents would have died with their names unfairly associated with the crime.

Raymond's body trembled at Margaret's words. He knew the events of that year had been a huge blow to her.

But so many years had passed, and Margaret still hadn't let it go?

"Maggie, I had no choice but to kick you out of the Seymour family. Elodie was like a madwoman after my father's death, convinced your parents were the murderers and refusing to listen to reason."

"In that situation, if I hadn't kicked you out, Elodie might have killed you in a fit of rage."

Back when Margaret was still in the Seymour family, Elodie would constantly torment her, subjecting her to cruel punishments. Margaret, being the stoic person she was, never cried out or asked Raymond for help.

Raymond was worried that with Elodie's temperament, she might eventually make Margaret pay an even heavier price.

So he had let Margaret leave.

He had thought that once he had solidified his position in the Seymour Group, he would bring Margaret back to stay by his side.

But he never expected that after leaving the Seymour family, Margaret would disappear as if off the face of the earth.

Raymond searched not only all over Harmony City but also every corner of Crystaland, yet he found no trace of her.

He even used the company's resources to search globally, but still, he couldn't find Margaret.

Margaret, however, found Raymond's explanation weak.

Elodie had already subjected her to brutal torture in the dark room. Although Raymond didn't know this, if Elodie had really wanted to kill her, she could have done so long ago.

The only reason Elodie didn't dare kill her was because the evidence was incomplete. If a murder occurred, Elodie would be held accountable.

Margaret let out a bitter laugh.

"Raymond, can you honestly say that kicking me out of the Seymour family wasn't for your own selfish reasons? Elodie kept pestering you for revenge. You didn't know how to deal with it, so you sent me away to avoid facing her, didn't you?"

Margaret's laugh grew even more cynical.

"Should I be thanking you for kicking me out of the Seymour family? Actually, I should. If it weren't for you and Elodie, I wouldn't be as accomplished as I am now. I wouldn't have learned all these skills in Rainbowland or fought my way to where I am today."

Raymond's heart sank. He knew the events of that year had left an icy barrier in Margaret's heart, and he had no idea when that ice would melt.

But now that Margaret had returned to him after all these years, he wasn't going to let her go again.

"Maggie, don't worry. Once the truth comes out, I'll make sure you get your justice and a satisfactory answer."

With that, Raymond turned and left.

Margaret sat alone in her office. After Raymond left, she let out a breath, deflating like a punctured balloon.

She slumped on the couch, feeling utterly exhausted, her mind a chaotic mess.

Her parents had borne the blame for so many years, and she had endured Elodie's hatred. Now, with the truth about to come out, even she found it hard to accept.

She wanted her parents to be innocent, but the thought of their wrongful deaths and her own suffering filled her with turmoil.

If this had happened to anyone else, they would have been crushed under the Seymour family's pressure, giving up and living aimlessly.

But Margaret was stubborn enough to bring Liberty to Rainbowland and carve out a future for herself.

Margaret left the Seymour Group and returned to her villa. When she got home, Liberty was already asleep.

Feeling down, she sat alone on the couch, trying to distract herself.

She didn't want to overthink and drain herself mentally, but she couldn't control her thoughts.

Margaret took out a photo of her parents and looked at their faces, tears streaming down her cheeks.

She sat on the couch, talking to herself.

"Dad, Mom, the truth is about to come out. But why am I so anxious? I don't even know what I'm anxious about. Are you happy? After all these years of bearing the blame, you won't have to be seen as murderers anymore."

Margaret cried and lamented. After all these years, she could finally clear her parents' names.
