Chapter 111 Benjamin Is the One She Chose
Matthew had watched Sophia grow up.
He knew better than anyone how innocent Sophia was.
She and Benjamin were from completely different worlds.
What's more, the White Family, a wealthy and powerful clan like that, was just a big mess.
He had looked into Benjamin's background.
Benjamin's birth was unwelcome - neither of his parents acknowledged his existence as their son.
Although Lachlan's family appeared calm on the surface, they had always been eyeing the inheritance rights to the White Group.
He couldn't bear to see Sophia spend her whole life in such an environment.
Over the years, their master and the three senior brothers had showered all their love on Sophia, hoping she could live a carefree life.
"Matthew, I know you all care about me. Marrying him was my choice," Sophia said, looking down.
"I've been searching for him for over ten years. I finally found him. I don't want to let go just like that."
Matthew frowned in surprise. "What are you saying? Benjamin is the person you've been looking for?"
"Yes."
"So the poison in his body is the same as yours?" Matthew immediately became alert.
"Not exactly. He was poisoned while still in his mother's womb, and later that organization captured him for experiments."
As a disciple of the miracle doctor Robert, Matthew naturally understood medicine too.
Hearing this, his heart sank.
"No wonder there are rumors that Mr. White of the White Family is destined to die before twenty-five. So you plan to treat him?"
"Yes."
"Sophia, are you crazy? Do you know the poison in Benjamin's body is dozens of times harder to cure than yours!"
Matthew slammed his water glass on the table. The ceramic collided with the wooden surface, making a dull thud.
Sophia's heart jumped.
She said, "I know, but my mind is made up. Whatever consequences come later, I'll bear them all. Matthew, just let me do this."
"Sophia, of all the people you could like, why him!" Matthew rubbed his temples, his eyes full of helplessness.
"Love doesn't make sense, does it?" Sophia bit her lip and quietly argued back.
Matthew smiled bitterly.
"But do you know how hard the road ahead will be when you love someone who doesn't have long to live?"
"I know." Sophia's gaze was calm, but her eyes were especially determined.
Benjamin was the one she had chosen.
No matter what happened in the future, she would never give up.
Matthew looked down, his eyes full of bitterness. "If Master comes back and finds out about this, he'll definitely break my legs."
"I'll protect you! Master loves me the most!" Sophia stood up with a smile and sat down beside Matthew.
Matthew pressed his lips together, silent.
His handsome face looked gloomy.
"Please! Senior brother, good senior brother, my very best senior brother..." Sophia gently shook Matthew's arm, acting cute and sweet.
"Fine!" Matthew rubbed his temples wearily, his eyes full of resignation.
He wasn't afraid of anything in this life, except Sophia acting cute.
After a long while, he sighed softly.
"You can help him with his treatment, but I have one condition."
"What condition?" Sophia's eyes immediately lit up, sparkling with excitement.
"Don't get too happy yet. My condition is that no matter when or where, you cannot hurt yourself for Benjamin's sake. And when you run into trouble, remember to come to me first."
"I promise!" Sophia agreed without hesitation, her eyes shining with light. "You're so good to me."
"Good that you know." Matthew glanced at Sophia, then raised his wrist to check the time. "I should go. I have a meeting later."
"Remember to eat lunch. Don't work on an empty stomach anymore - it's bad for your stomach." Sophia showed an understanding smile.
Matthew paused mid-step and couldn't help complaining, "Heartless girl, I never saw you being this considerate before."
Sophia smiled awkwardly and touched her nose.
After Matthew left, Sophia also got up and left the café.
She randomly hailed a car on the roadside, planning to return to the White Manor.
However, Sophia didn't know that after she left, someone suddenly emerged from the corner.
That person stared hard at the direction the car left, eyes full of malice.
"Sophia, you made me lose all face. Finally, I've caught you red-handed, haven't I?"
Celestia looked at the photos on her phone and couldn't help smiling.
She could already imagine Preston's fury when he saw these photos.
Since Sophia came to the White Manor over a month ago, she had been constantly pampered by Benjamin and Preston.
While she had been ignored by everyone.
She was clearly the White Family's only daughter, yet she lived like Sophia's sidekick.
Sophia even humiliated her in public, making her lose face in front of everyone!
She would definitely make Sophia pay the price she deserved!
After putting away her phone, Celestia snorted in the direction Sophia had disappeared, then turned and walked the opposite way.
After returning to the White Manor, Sophia yawned tiredly.
Emma quickly came forward to greet her.
Seeing the many bags in her hands, she hurried to take them.
"Mrs. White, why didn't you bring a servant when you went out? Carrying all these things by yourself must have worn you out."
"A bit." Sophia smiled and rubbed her slightly sore shoulders.
She went out to see Matthew today, so it wasn't convenient to bring anyone along.
Shopping was probably just a woman's nature.
Sophia had bought quite a lot of things.
Emma quickly took the shopping bags upstairs, then went to the kitchen to pour a glass of warm water for Sophia.
"Mrs. White, drink some water. It's the hottest time of year right now - you must be overheated?"
Sophia nodded with a smile.
Actually, she had a naturally cold constitution. Even with today's temperature over thirty degrees, she didn't feel much.
Winter was worse - she wished she could stay curled up under the covers all the time.
Her master and senior brothers always teased her for being as lazy as a little kitten.
After Sophia finished drinking, Celestia came back.
As she passed through the living room, she glared at Sophia mockingly, then went upstairs without looking back.
"Sophia, your good days are about to end."
Watching her retreating figure, Sophia looked puzzled.
Over the next few days, every time Sophia encountered Celestia, she noticed her looking at her strangely.
Like she was gloating, or mocking her.
But Sophia didn't think much of it and continued busying herself with the lab work.
Perhaps because everyone in the lab had raised their guard, no one had touched the latest sample data.
But Sophia still didn't dare let down her guard.
The enemy was in the dark, she was in the light.
The other party was like a venomous snake lurking in the grass, ready to strike at any moment.
Three days later, at dinner, Preston quietly announced, "I'm going abroad tomorrow to handle some business. While I'm gone, the White Family will be managed by Benjamin."
