Chapter 16

Sofia's POV

After having daily blast with Alexander on different occasions, I finalized the Alexander was a nut case.

Home was boring with no one to talk to but finally.... The suspension was over. I woke up very early to prepare for work. I instantly got super excited. I don't care if Marie would trouble me as I've taken a mental note on ignoring her.

All I wanted right now was to be at the office and... Working.

While humming Tag, you're it by Melanie Martinez, I brushed my teeth while looking at my self in the mirror and making some funny faces. My happiness knows no bounds.

After bathing, I went into the walk-in closet and picked a dark brown straight skirt and a black V neck blouse that hugged my body and exposed just little of my boobs.

This was definitely nice.

I used a light brown hair scrunchie to toe my hat up in a pony tail and picked up my milk coloured back after wearing my shoes and sparing some light perfumes— I hated the ones with much scent.

I sprinted outside carefully and couldn't find Alexander or his car outside then it dawned on me that he had already left for work... I over heard him telling his mom he had a meeting with the board members and some other CEO's.

"Sofia, don't you want breakfast." Alexander's mom asked as she stood with hands akimbo at the entrance of the house.

"I am not hungry, moreover, when I get hungry I'd grab a bite at the cafeteria. " I assured her while she nodded, smiling at the same time as she walked into the house and shut the gigantic door behind her.

She's an amazing mom... Unlike my own mother who was reckless and care about no one but herself.

I got into the car and the driver sped off immediately in not time, we arrived at the Alexander Fashion world.

Opening the car door, I hopped out quickly and could see some workers staring at me weirdly.

"She's looks stunning."

"She's more radiant than before." I heard different murmurs concerning my looks but I didn't even think of listening or accepting their compliments as the next thing they'd want to do is make friends with me.

I walked into the company's building like a queen— of course I'm one.

Annie kept looking at me with mouths wide open.

"Close your mouth so a fly won't go in." I walked passed her and she jerked like she was in a trance.

The next minute, she ran up. I'm sure she's going to call Marie.

"Hey dear." Someone called to my attention and it was a man's voice. I controlled not frowning and forced a smile on my face.

"Good morning...." I greeted but immediately got disgusted by the way the man stared at me.

"Good morning damsel...." Still giving me that creepy look, he replied.

Is he nuts or something?

"Sir, ho can I help you? Or have you lost your way?" I looked at him and wondering why a man as responsible as this would decide to misbehave.

"Oh dear, I just got carried away by your beauty." He stated.

Yuk!

It sounded disgusting to me.

An idea stroked me immediately I saw Alexander with a lady, walking towards the staffs hallway.

"Oh, thanks alot." I replied and moved a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Let's take a walk beauty...." He requested but I didn't want to.... I feel disgusted by this man and I wanted to act to his beat.

"I've got something to finish up, so I don't think I can take a walk with you." I rejected politely.

Oh yeah!

Here comes Alexander staring at me like I stole something valuable from him. If eyes could kill this man would be dead right now.

"Mr Alaric, I believe you're here for her meeting!" Alexander started coldly.

I turned around and walked upstairs. When I got upstairs, everyone stopped whatever they were doing and began staring at me.

I didn't spare them another glance as I immediately sat in my cubicle.

"Why would you wear something like this to work?" Marie came in shouting like a mad dog.

"I was instructed by my husband." I stated and everyone gasped.

" Sofia?" Fina called out and I stared at him.

"Sir Alexander requested to see you in his office now." Fina stated.

What for? I controlled asking.

"Oh... I think they are getting ready along now." A co worker stated and received a death are from Marie.

"Come in." Alexander voice rang.

I sat in front of Alexander's desk, feeling like a child being reprimanded by a parent. I knew I had made a mistake, but I still felt like the dress was appropriate.

Afterall Marie wears whatever.

"It's not that revealing!" I protested. "I didn't think it would be a problem."

Alexander shook his head. "You work for my company, and you're a representative of me. You have to dress appropriately, or it reflects poorly on me. And on the company."

"But I'm not even meeting with clients today!" I argued. "It's just a regular workday. And besides, other women in the office dress like this all the time!"

"That's not the point," Alexander said. "You're my wife, and you're held to a different standard. I expect you to dress with more class and professionalism than the other women in the office."

What the heck does he mean?

Is he accepting it now?

I felt a flash of anger. "I'm not a child," isaid. "You can't tell me what to wear!"

The dress was a simple black sheath, with a modest neckline and sleeves that covered my shoulders. The skirt hem hit just below my knee, and I had even chosen to wear tights underneath. But the dress did cling to my curves, and I could understand why Alexander might consider it too revealing.

"I'm not trying to control you, even if I am!!! I own you!!!" Alexander said, his voice loud.

"I don't think you should say that Alexander. What makes you think you own me? Who gave you that slight inkling?" I shouted trying to stop the tears from flowing out of my eyes though they had begun to itch like crazy.

"Did you just talk back at me in that manner, Sophia?" Alexander asked twitching his brows as he stood to his full length, staring down at me.

"I did and there's nothing you can do about it other than what you've always been doing. Reply to the tweet that Marie made on the company... Tell them that your wife is stupid and needs a donation of fabric. That's right!" I yelled stamping my feet and straightening my dress, I walked out of the office making sure to bang the door shut.

As I shut the door, it seemed that the sound of the door made the tears that I was holding in roll out.

Ive been crying too much lately resulting in my eyes always been puffy and red.

I thought of going back to my office and continuing my work but I decided against it. It was already terrible for me with the way the workers stared at me normally but then seeing me crying right in the office?

That would heighten everything.

"I thought your husband permitted it but the tears says otherwise." One of the workers commented and I didn't know why but I began running at impulse with the tears threatening to blur my vision.

Running down the stairs to he as far away as possible from every human being living and breathing, I accidently bumped into something, someone or was it a wall?

Staring up to realize that I actually bumped into a human being after all, I immediately apologized.

"I'm so sorry." I pleaded and was about sprinting off when his firm hands grasped my arms.

"Apologies but please why are you sprinting off that way? You might eventually hurt yourself;" The man who I finally recognized to be Mr Alaric said and I looked away so he wouldn't see the tears that had formed a lake in my eyes.

"It's nothing, I'm fine." I said trying to sound as casual as possible though the fact that I was crying wasn't to be hidden in my voice at all.

"Are you okay?" He asked and slightly used his finger to swivel my face and now he was looking directly into my eyes.

It felt weird that a stranger was staring at me with so much passion and intense emotion in his eyes and though it felt inappropriate, it sent a kind of warmth to my heart.

"Here, you can have this." He said and handed me a handkerchief that I used to wipe out my tears from my face.

" Thanks a lot. " I said sniffling.

Even clients were much more admirable than people that have known me for a long time now.

" Do you mind having lunch with me, Sophia? " He asked and i knew the height that would extend the whole issues to and i wasn't even ready for the whole chaos so I declined.

"It's very much appreciated but unfortunately, I'm not sure I would be able to do that sir. I have some projects to attend to. " I said looking for an escape route but his expression showed that he wouldn't let me of so easily.

"It's lunch time Sophia, you can continue with your work right after that. Please I insist. " He said and i had no other thing to say.

It wouldn't hurt to have just one meal with someone who had done so good to calm me dow or would it?
