Chapter 15
Sofia's POV
What the heck have I done?
Everyone in the restaurant was staring at us like we were some piece of trash. No, not us.
They were actually staring at me.
I had thought that maybe I was recognized by some but no, that wasn't the kind of stare I received.
I think everyone was staring at me because they easily and would always recognize the man I'm with as Alexander Rutherford, the CEO of Alexander's Fashion world, some women had started swooning over him already.
"Who's she?
" Maybe some lousy girls who wants to get into his bed and make him sleep with her. "
"That's right. And later rope him down saying he got her pregnant. "
I wanted to scream at them, telling them to shut up but that would be the dumbest thing I can ever do.
I would not only ruin his image, I'd bring shame to myself.
Murmurs filled the whole place.
Again!. I'm treated like a piece of trash.
I stared at him as tears formed in my eyes.
Yet another humiliation.
Without wasting another time, I picked up a tissue using it to dry up his damped face.
"You don't have to do that." He took the tissue from me and dragged me up my seat while we walked out of the restaurant.
"Uhmm, you haven't paid for the things we ate." Or does he own this restaurant too?
"I really do not have to. " He got into the car and was about starting the car engine when a knock came to his window.
Looking up, disheveled Marie came into view.
"The heck, Marie!" He glowered and a frown appeared on his forehead.
"Sir, I'm sorry I need your help." She stated and immediately looked at me.
Wait a minute.
Few minutes ago, I saw three women standing together an the other kept threshing her clothes and scattering her hair. I paid less attention to t because I found it cringe and stupid for any woman to do that in public.
So it was Marie?
What's her plan this time?
"And how should I help you?" Annoyed Alexander was getting agitated already.
A mad looking woman holding his rear view mirror in public. Ordinarily, he would drive off without giving a damn but no, he can't do that.
Marie schemed this up very well. She knows that he couldn't possibly tell her no to whatever she said in public.
"Sir please, I have no where to go to.... I got robbed along the road." She cried and it wasn't convincing enough.
A very imperfect lie.
How stupid can anyone be? Or is she that lame to not understand that Alexander is very observant? She has been working with him for years so why wouldn't she know?
"Get into the car!" Bringing the car to life, he zoomed off the moment Marie was inside the car.
I had thought Alexander would go to the house but I got shocked immediately when he took another route.
Marie noticed this too.
"Sir, w— where are you driving to?" Squeezing the hem of her dress, she patiently waited for his answer.
"I am drive you back to your house."
Wow!
Smart move. He would never fail to surprise me would he?
I wonder if Marie takes him for a fool or there is practically something wrong with her brain.
" I thought....." She trailed off when she received a death glare from him.
Her heart sank.
" What were you thinking? That I would take you to my house? Why would you think that? Are the robbers in your house too?" Taking a U–turn, he glanced at me.
" Yes, yes... They are in my house too." Marie's eyes shone bright not untill she realized how stupid her answer was.
Desperation!
I face palmed, tired of all the lies she kept putting up.
After a long time of silence without anyone speaking about anything, who will? Marie asked the dumbest question anyone would.
"Did you go to the office? I can come tomorrow if you want and if deducting my salary would pay off, fine by me."
She received no answer and she kept talking.
Damn!
Where is her dignity?
She's currently hitting in Alexander right now.
"Yes, I went to the office with my WIFE to finish up some work and she really helped me." The car came to an abrupt halt, I guess we've arrived Marie's house.
Alexander laying emphasis in calling me his wife brought up different emotions in me.
I can't tell what I feel but I know it accentuates as happiness.
"Get down!"
The shocked Marie looked at me and just like she's hypnotized, she got down from the car without uttering another word.
Why the hell is she glaring at me? I swear with my life that if eyes could kill, I'd be dead already.
"You've got yourself a hater." Alexander started off the car engine with a slight smirk at the corner of this lips.
I half shrugged because I felt it was time to put Marie in her place.
I don't know what her next plan might be but whatever she has in mind would never work out.
After few minutes, we drove into Alexander's mansion.
I got down from the car first and started running inside, I never wanted to look behind but curiousity took the better part of me.
I looked behind I saw Alexander staring at me with hands akimbo.
If I'm being asked what chased me inside, I'd definitely go tongue tied.
Getting into the house, I sprinted towards my room and ran into the restroom.
Okay I admit... I'm pressed.
I heard muffled voices outside my room, my door was shut so the voices were almost inaudible.
"What's wrong with her?" A female voice— oh, Alexander's mom is around.
"I don't know but I think she needs to make use of the restroom." He replied.
"Why are you both not sleeping in the same room yet? I need grand children....." His mom winced.
"Oh mom, please don't start. I'm exhausted and I need rest.
Damn!
